    The game is called an "ACTION" "ADVENTURE" "STEALTH" game.
    None of those words should be applied to this game.
    First off, there is little to no action. Watching action take place in a cut scene does not make an action game. Now there is a level of adventure as you are sort of exploring Salem but you're clearly on a linear path that is obscured by some objects you can pass through and    The game is called an "ACTION" "ADVENTURE" "STEALTH" game.

    First off, there is little to no action. Watching action take place in a cut scene does not make an action game.
    Now there is a level of adventure as you are sort of exploring Salem but you're clearly on a linear path that is obscured by some objects you can pass through and many you cannot.
    There is absolutely no level of stealth in this game. The enemies are few and far between as it is making the game feel so empty. The actual people themselves feel no different than ghosts considering they have no personality and might as well just be mannequins. Now, not only are there almost no enemies you can always see them regardless of where you are. On PS3, pressing R1 reveals all ghosts and demons in the area. There is literally no challenge here. Just wait for the demon to turn around and you're golden.

    Now if this game was marketed and presented as a mystery/narrative type game it really would be hitting the mark on the head. The cases seem interesting and overall most of them I felt I wanted to discover the truth about. However I'll admit even this misses the mark sometimes. One sidecase has you collecting hidden wood saws. Then a story can play after you've collected them all which essentially ends with the mystery being unsolved anyway all you learned by "solving the case" was that someone heard crying and found a dead body that appeared to have been left there 40 years prior. Maybe it gets elaborated on later in the game but after collecting 10 Wood Saws, like Im playing an MMO or something, all I learn is a contracter got the heebie-jeebies from a voice he heard.

    I really wanted to like this game. I found enjoyment in times the game got it right. When searching for clues seemed less like an easter egg hunt and more of a legitimate investigation. Every time I thought the game was going to get better, I found that I was still being guided through a linear path with a semi-open area in between.

    Don't bother buying, you'll beat it sooner than you'd want to. Theres no replay value I could see since all the trophies could be completed in one playthrough. Theres no extra bonus for being smart and getting the solution on the first try and even lets you keep trying till you get it right. Should you die, although its unlikely, you don't lose anything. You start right back at the beginning of the last checkpoint, which there are plently and everything you've picked up is saved. Dying in this game is only a minor setback which is even more frustrating to think that its so easy to stay alive.

    TLDR: The game will hold your hand through the main story and the side cases aren't interesting enough to really warrant the time spent hunting for any spot that allows you to use abilities you're unsure why you even have.    … Expand

    I LIKED this game (8.5). One of the big reasons is that it was something NEW!! (A welcomed breath of new originality and not just another sequel of sequel of sequel...). I thought the story was interesting, especially when you find out just why Ronan was killed (not a spoiler as that is what the whole story is about.. note the bullet holes in Ronan on the cover). I thought the graphics were awesome, the environment somewhat spooky, voice acting was top notch, and the facial expressions done rather well... Don't miss Ronan's facial expression in the last scene as he turns to someone calling his name. I thought it was priceless. It was a bit short, but it took me more than just a couple of days as I really tried to take in the environment and story trying to connect various dots. Sure, it could have been a lot more with difficulty levels, more side quests and all, but for what it was, I enjoyed it. (biggest wish would've been for a map, but not having it did lead to more exploration and discoveries). I hope the developers get to read this to know someone does appreciate their work... nicely done in my book. Thanks for the time and effort that went into this game for our enjoyment.… Expand

    This game is amazing graphic design and detective work remind me of La noire but only thing is wrong bout it is........... it too dam short took me 2 days to finish i mean really come on that was no challenge in it

    guessing return this game get another game expected to be more challaging

    After struggling with the deeply flawed mechanics (not bugged but flawed in design,) dragging myself through an uninspired & tiny Salem, and generally trying to find something good that outweighs the overwhelming bad that makes up this title I simply don't care who the killer is or what their motivation is.

    The breaking point finally came when I went to the third floor of a building before completing an Investigation on the 2nd floor and accidentally jumped into a new cutscene. After that, there was no way to re-trigger the 2nd floor investigation or hold onto the progress of the 3rd floor investigation after being "killed" by a Demon and could progress no further in the story no matter what I tried. Even changing locations and trying to force the game to move me along or let me go back & re-do something didn't work. This is due to an unpredictable and lazy check-point save system that doesn't let you hold onto some progress while seemingly randomly allowing you to hold onto progress in other areas.
    The game had so much potential that it actually is painful as an avid gamer to see what they turned out.    … Expand

    A really nice game with some great ideas. Yet feels a little unfinished and bare at times.

    Visually it looks great. Backgrounds are stunning, animation is good and characters detailed. However, the whole world feels a little lifeless (excuse the obvious pun, considering the theme.) It almost feels like a story board with moving parts at times. Story is great, nice nice twists and was    A really nice game with some great ideas. Yet feels a little unfinished and bare at times.

    Gameplay was a little barren and I found it a little cheap that the most of the collectibles were just needless back story and filler documents, that were in text form only. It would have been nice if each piece would have been narrated.

    Overall:
    It's a nice fun game that feels a bit incomplete and lacking in the grander scheme of things. Definitely worth a try for the story alone, but don't bother paying full price. Rental, discount or used should suffice. Only took me a weekend to get 100% completion.    … Expand

    This game had potential. But a lot of bugs make of it a frustration. First I got it on PC but it was so much full of bugs till the moment when my controls become unresponsive. I was stubborn and than i got it on PS 3. Must admit that PC version is very superior regarding graphics :).
    Game is OK, I like the atmosphere of Salem ( reminds mi somehow on Thief ;) ). Story is the main thing    This game had potential. But a lot of bugs make of it a frustration.     Game is OK, I like the atmosphere of Salem ( reminds mi somehow on Thief ;) ). Story is the main thing here and it was the story that draws me to endure trough all those bugs. Investigations are interesting, and that chilly atmosphere of surrounding death add to the enjoyment. Main and almost all side quests are good.
    Demons in my opinion are unnecessary ( feels like filling the gap ) and in my opinion the game should be just investigation oriented. Stealth segments are clunky and annoying.
    So it is good game until before the very end my PS 3 version of the game did not allowed me to trigger one cut scene. Another bug ( I was mad ) .
    Somehow I manage to go trough that part and I solve the Bell murders. Salem is now peaceful place again even if i am frustrated.
    Game is not bad just unfinished and unpolished.
    So I think that I am generous, because it has it good sides    … Expand

    For me, I felt Soul Suspect had potential. Unfortunately it was let down by it's lack of true open-world, annoying navigation and it's reliance upon it's antagonists, the Demons, to step into your path as an obstacle when you were making progress.

    Relic and object finding was a chore and the lack of red herrings during investigations was another let down. The story was great and the    For me, I felt Soul Suspect had potential. Unfortunately it was let down by it's lack of true open-world, annoying navigation and it's reliance upon it's antagonists, the Demons, to step into your path as an obstacle when you were making progress.

    Relic and object finding was a chore and the lack of red herrings during investigations was another let down.

    The story was great and the plot twist unforgettable, but that doesnt carry well with too many gamers in an age where games like GTA V and Halo are brought back on next-gen consoles to blitz titles like this.    … Expand

    Interesting game. I think there are an awful lot of collectibles which is a good thing as you can see into the lives of other beings in the game, but they are easily missed without a guide so those just playing through may miss out on good extra stuff. The story behind it I think it is quite good as it is mysterious and keeps you interested.

    Murdered: Soul Suspect was certainly not a bad game but it didn't use the full potential it really had. The town of salem felt boring. The story was interesting enough to push through to the ending, it managed to be original but it failed at being memorable.
