    It's the same old story: Magic fans will find a complete and engaging experience, but investing huge amounts of money in the microtransactions is absolutely necessary to take the best from the game.

    I suspect that Forgotten Wars will be a single player only experience very quickly, and I'm just not willing to pay a premium for a solo player CCG.

    The underlying experience is a good card-based game, but it's way too focused on the "pay-to-win" model. This is somehow understandable when those games are free, but not when paying €9.99 for it.

This is an excellent game which has been broken by poor marketing. Hopefully I will do this game a favor and urge people to pay the $10 and sign up and give it a try. The first thing i would like to say is the game was very poorly marketed. This game has many features in common with Magic the Gathering and I guess the developers just presumed there would be millions of players flocking to this similar game and paying for virtual cards and everyone would be happy. Nope. Dear developers you need to create a fan base before you think people are going to hand over their money fist over fist to you. So in my opinion the game needs to have a following and the developers turned off all potential players by attempting the money pit strategy. This should have been delayed for 2 years or until multiplayer online has developed and enough players stick around. It was way too early to try to lure players into virtual cards at the asking price. Anyway there is good news and that is you can earn free cards in this game and why i recommend all Magic the Gathering fans try this game. Even for $10, the price of two real life boosters you can enjoy deck building 6 different factions with different schools of magic. There is tons of deck customization possible you have to slowly unlock it. There are over 120 single player battles to win and you can unlock way more thru campaigns. In the meantime you are unlocking cards and building decks. For $10 of entertainment money this is a no brainer. Each game lasts 10 to 25 minutes so a lot of hours of (quality) gameplay for next to nothing. Ok, more bad news multiplayer online right now is dead but hopefully this post will help get some followers to bring people back to this game as it is excellent. But, one other mistake the developers made is matchups for online. There are not enough players online to be matched according to rank the developers need to change to a tournament style matchup just as if you were in real life. This way regardless of number of players online there would always be a game available to match up against. Ok, third thing the game crashes about every 3 hrs. This is unacceptable but workable. Ok in sum, this game has some problems mostly that players think this game is dead and is an expensive waste of money but I urge people to reconsider because this game is really good and needs to have more players give it a chance. I doubt the developers will make the changes i recommend but i hope they do because this game is essentially a clone of magic the gathering online and deserves some attention and word of mouth advertising. The asking price of $10 to play and learn the game is definately worth the money even if the developers do nothing but fans of ccgs need to support this game a bit. Don't go buying the virtual cards because online is dead at the moment but maybe with a bunch more people slowly joining this game it can eventually catch on and be just what all us ccg freaks want. I would like to say you can invite friends and earn points from every single match vs your friends or the computer or ranked games. If you have even one ccg buddy this game is a gem of a find.… Full Review »
