    this game caused my ps3 YLOD 4 years of gameplay the disc was living inside the console for almost all the time "war has changed" just the beginning of the game alone is so epic old snake is now using the octocamo technology and holding the siaxixs dualshock 3 to control the Mk. II robot when needed in battle the gameplay is so rich the controller was exploited to the max here there are different types of cqc with and without weapon depending on the position of old snake, switching the weapon view from left and right shoulder depending on the situation in battle, laying on your back throwing nades, side rolls standing up or laying down, sensitive L1 touch for throwing nades, knife stunning, 3 slots for weapons inventory and 3 others for items and the use of different kind of traps or magazines you can take side with guerilla fighters if you want to you have the choice to go all lethal or using non lethal weapons and cqc against pmc soldiers or deafeat bosses with non lethal way to get their octocamo, all the classic characters are here, revisiting the shadow moses and hearing the ost "the best is yet to come" playing in the background was one of the best part of the game along with psycho mantis controlling your dualshock 3 cutscene so much nostalgia in this game and they've included the online mode wich kept me playing for 4 years non stop until the servers shutdown and doing the final salute to the game causing my ps3 to die, it was so addictive, this game is by far the best ps3 game of all time hands down.… Expand

    Amazing conclusion to the series. I didn't mind the cutscenes one bit as it offered balanced segments of great gameplay and deep story. I think the game looked stunning for its time and it's still one of the best spectacles to behold in gaming. This IS my favorite MGS game.

    Excellent game that follows the same pattern of the previous metal gear, only improved. Without adding, it is the best ending to give a saga as long and emotional as this one is.

    My favourite game. Perfect blend of story telling and game play. With each play through I discovered hidden features I had previously missed. Even the cut scenes are interactive. Definitely a “guys” game, female players might be offended lol.

    As incredible as it sounds, this is my first metal gear solid to play, I was fascinated with the story, the gameplay, the visuals all seemed amazing, this game is a masterpiece that is mandatory to play.

    Martin A. - A masterpiece! A work of Art in the form of a game!

    This game had the whole weight of the world on it's shoulders and still proceeded to make Metal Gear Solid Online as a free game mode (at the time). There is nothing to say about 10/10 games. Go in knowing as little as possible about this game and have the time of your life!

    I’ve recently finished this game and it’s nothing but unforgettable and extraordinary. It’s an emotional conclusion to the Metal Gear saga which holds a special place in my heart and it’s simply amazing.

    Llegue 13 años tarde pero aún así quiero opinar sobre dicho juego, porque la verdad merece la pena. el trabajo esta muy pulido mas allá de que sea un juego de una consola salida en el año 2006.

    Much like the titles that preceded it, MGS 4 has become a landmark in the video game sphere through its transformative uses (and sometimes, even instances co-dependence) in regards to in-game cinematics. It's exceptionally hard to find a game that could justify such an overwhelming amount of non-playable segments when compared to your average gameplay, but because of the attention to detail and genuine love for the series pouring out of every proverbial pixel, you can't help but admire what the team at Kojima Productions has created here. Through countless development troubles (and even death threats) they managed to create one of the most beautiful send-offs to such a legendary character. There may have been some rough points gameplay-wise or narrative-wise, but when looked at as a whole, this game is a product of its time... and a legendary one at that. It serves as a reminder of simpler times in the gaming industry, when creativity could still shine through. Where it wasn't about blindly following trends, but sticking to your vision and trusting that the team you're in will make something worthwhile. Nostalgia is certainly playing a significant role here, but even as a stand-alone title, MGS 4 is a remarkable example of unyielding ambition that resulted in a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This was supposed to be the last Metal Gear Hideo made and it pulled all the correct stops. Unfortunately the community attacked him to make more and we got Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain in which Hideo’s story was far and beyond whatQuite a deep and lovely game. I played it from 2008 to this year MGS 4 without exaggeration.. so I keep to this day the Blistine 3.. Just to play MGs4 I was surprised by Konami She succeeded with mgs 4, 3, 2.     A wonderful experience, this is the perfect ending for solid snake, and the franchise overall, the game play feels like a evolved-new generation metal gear, the story is nostalgic and incredible, the characters conflicts are fantastic, and I also the story arc for snake, the fact that he is dying is sad, and is a nice touch, 10/10

Graphics, controls, sound, gameplay... all done to meet an extremely high standard. I also liked the fact that you are now not forced to sneak as much as in some of the other titles in the A masterpiece.     This game is absolutely amazing. If you own a PS3, then you need to have this game in your library. Fans of the series are the ones who will find the most to love about this game. But even if you are a newcomer to the series this game will get you hooked into the Metal Gear mythos.

    Great game. Amazing storyline that gets confusing at times, but worth it. The cut-scenes are long but that makes the game so much better. I gave it a 9 instead of a 10 because of my inability to watch the epic Raiden vs. Vamp battle. The whole splitscreen that goes on is cool, but what use is it if all my attention is directed at not dying and killing a bunch of robots. Awesome game.

    This was the first metal gear game I've ever played, and while it was a little hard to follow not knowing the back story to it, I thought the game was unbelievably entertaining, and well worth the full price. I would recommend this game to pretty much anyone who enjoys stealth games and anyone who enjoys 3rd person shooters.     Metal Gear Solid 4 is pure genious, from the graphics to the gameplay which come together to create a very intense experience... crippled only by the fact that you almost don't need the controller due too an enormous quantity of cutscenes from the very start to the awesome finale...

    Great game, not quite up to the hype but never was going to live up to it. The gunplay has been vastly improved by adopting the option to use a gears of war or call of duty perspective. The camera is now free to move like in portable ops which is much better and the octocamo is fantastic, so many options on how to play the game depending on your tastes.     In all honesty, I found the 1up review best for accurately summing up my feelings for this game. The first two chapters feature some of the most stellar moments in video gaming that I have ever experienced. As you hit the 8 hour mark however, the game steadily takes control away from the player in exchange for absolutely massive cutscenes which are for the most part, very engaging. But I couldn't help but feel cheated when I watched an hour of cutscenes only to have control of Snake relinquished unto me for 20 minutes. I think that Hideo Kojima was a little too concerned with answering every single question posed by the previous three games, and unfortunately made some of those explanations too convoluted and long-winded. Don't get me wrong, I think that some of the later moments of the game are fantastic, but none of them are ever quite as extraordinary as those first two levels. I walk away from this game a satisfied fan of Metal Gear Solid with what are overall positive feelings about MGS4: Guns of the Patriots. I give this something between a 9 - 9.5.… Expand

    There are two plots in Metal Gear games. The cyperpunk G.I. Joe in Die Hard 1 individual stories and the epic Lost meets anime Metal Gear universe. Being the end of the series, this game seems to be more concerned with pulling together loose ties by any means possible and with 30+ minute "briefings" to every Act, it suffers from it. I look back at various parts with mixed feelings, but There are two plots in Metal Gear games. The cyperpunk G.I. Being the end of the series, this game seems to be more concerned with pulling together loose ties by any means possible and with 30+ minute "briefings" to every Act, it suffers from it. I look back at various parts with mixed feelings, but when the game is good its literally "BEST GAME EVER" good--in the same way the original was. While the original games stuck to humble basic stories in one location, for better or worse, MGS4 is all over the map and feels more like an Indiana Jones then a Die Hard. I can see many places of improvement but I can still easily call it the best game of this generation. Presentation wise, this is where we all wanted videogames to go a decade ago. With no pretention, I can see it is a more creative and fulfilling effort then any 2008 summer blockbuster. There are so many great moments that pay tribute to the previous games in a way that is more satisfying than in any other medium (don't want to spoil anything) and Kojima, while he plays many old tricks, finds ways to interact in ways that only the medium of video games could pull off. It might be flawed, but its still a masterpiece.… Expand

    As much as I am a fan of this game, I would never give it a 10 as for a game to be given a 10 I would want it to be serving me beers while playing it (never gonna happen.) So I will give it a 9.5. Anyhow the game itself is great, graphically, audio is spot on. The gameplay, though improved, is still your typical MGS fare albeit with over-the-shoulder shooter elements - but we've already seen this done MGS4 is a fantastic game when you add up all the elements; but the story, unfortunately, is a disappointment. There has to be more gameplay than cutscenes, kojima has to step down as a DIRECTOR. I want the rerelease of MGS4 to be on DVD rather than a BLURAY DISC, ID rather switch disc in 10 seconds rather than wait a 5 installation process, takes about 3 to 8 minutes installation on every act, and when you finished the game, i have to install it all over again WTF. BLURAY DISC IS A DISADVANTAGE. COMPRESS THE AUDIO. I LOVE METAL GEAR SOLID but please kojima step down and focus more on gameplay than incredibly long cutscenes. OBVIOUS consequence: 20-minute cutscenes here and there, and between them, classic MGS gameplay (i.e. perfect for the real MGS fans). The people that aren't happy with this formula, the length of the cutscenes, and the story-line (which is and always has been the core of all MGS games) are simply not enjoying the game for what it is. The transition from MGS1 to MGS2 was a let-down for many, as I'm sure this one will be too. For me personally, it worked fine. You either accept it or you don't, it's as simple as that.     Loved it, thought the gameplay, graphics and gameplay were awesome, the story line was good as well except the fact that Snake was around 60 and yet able to run around shooting... i know it kinda explains it in the story but i dont think that was a good move by Hideo Kojima !

The main point of complaint was how there were 8 hours of cutscenes (which is actualy how many there are) when realy 6 hours grips you by the balls and keeps you interested while 2 do actualy bore you. But 3 years later, another generation passes, and this is how I am rewarded. Now I just hope Final Fantasy 13 can deliver like this title did and my Xbox 360 will be a permanent paperweight. I even found myself skipping some scenes because they were so long and I just wanted to get back to the gameplay. I liked the game a lot, I just wish the cut scenes weren't so long.     I never played the earlier games, but this game was just awesome. Fun combat with lots of stealth, lots of ways to play and a futuristic and dynamic storyline. Fantastic cut scenes and voice acting. A must have for any action game fan. One of the few games I've finished.

One must be warned though that every Metal Gear game contains many references to previous games in the series and you are losing a lot of fun if not playing them in correct order.

There were a few "cheesy" moments in the story if you ask me that didn't add much but as far as the scope and magnitude of this effort it is right up there with Grand Theft Auto IV. This brings stealth, action, weapons, upgrades, and a fantastic story with epic bossThis game truly was magnificent...     Fantastic graphics, a great story (which is heavily tied in with the other Metal Gear Solid games) and excellent stealth gameplay round out the last of the MGS games. The biggest issue is that the game simply doesn't let you play it enough; it'll probably take a little over 20 hours to beat, but expect more than half of that to be taken up by cutscenes.

    Moments after the introduction, I quickly noticed that you'll be required to learn the controls on your own. Many games released after the PS3 went on market has tuned it's gameplay to focus on accessibility for those that have an inability to memorize control functions. Aside from that, the gorgeous cut scenes really place a deep tone that will follow throughout. It's a wonder how they pulled everything off in time for Guns of the Patriots release.

    Stealth is available to purist and gunners alike. It just depends on how you, yourself, will want implement it. Just keep in mind that you will not be able to rely on one type of gameplay. Your arsenal will not only consist of various types of weaponry, but also futuristic camo suits and even an ipod to change the mood of a firefight. The AI are something short of fantastic, but more than mediocre. You'll find them waking up their comrades that you have tranquilized and they can even become suspicious when you follow them whilst hiding under a box. They didn't give me much of a challenge, but enough of one to make it interesting.

    Action sequences in this game are unbelievable and sometimes jaw dropping. I found myself putting the controller down distracted, only to find out that I was still playing and was being killed. It's a game that will put you at the edge of your seats. The extremely deep plot may have many confused, and it may well be because this sequel is so tightly interwoven with its predecessors. I have only played MGS2, and was introduced to an overload of information that will only be mentioned once... SO PAY ATTENTION if you want to FULLY understand what is at stake in the game.

MGS4 well there is a lot of ground to cover with this game and there isnt enough space to describe the details and wonderful examples of developing perfection along w/ pretty cut scenes and visuals. this is one of those games which i cant help but smile when i think about it. there are many ways to tackle this game, many items to find and plenty of choices to make in regards to how you engage into the next act. stealth is my weapon of choice but can be very challenging which i always welcome in a game, a good but not frustrating challenge. it is a well thought out and designed game. snake has many gadgets and devices which allow him to be able to complete his missions in a tech savvy manner, also has an ipod to help him ease his mind along the way. he does smoke like a chimney but cigarettes help ease his nerves. snake faces the harsh reality of what is transpiring and his hunt for truth is emotional but he is a mans man and faces what ever it may be head on. people often take away from mgs4 because of some lengthy cut scenes , but i loved every moment of them and trust me when i say that the cut scenes do not take anything away from the gameplay or campaign, it adds a compelling story to it and i welcomed the story with open arms and was delighted with every part of this game, as far as glitches or bugs, well i will say this. NOTHING takes away the pure, wonderfully crafted game which i am a proud owner of. i bought this game years ago and to this day i do not see many games that can compare with the overall exp. yes games have new tech hence better capabilities as far as graphics etc, but in my honest opinion this game could be released next week and still would rank as a pure bred contender w/ "next gen gaming" thinking of this game is tempting me to put the disc in, thats how much i enjoyed it after playing through it 2 times already.

    its a bargain bin game by value, but it is a gem by design and always will be.

    I decided to pick this up again after the August trophy patch. It is a beautiful game in my opinion. The controls have been modernized so it took some adjusting to (I had been playing the MGS HD collection). The movies and cut scenes are excessive though well done. My girlfriend will sit and watch and attempt to follow the story, as ridiculous as it is. Overall this is a fantasticI decided to pick this up again after the August trophy patch. The story is the product of a genius and it is even more rewarding if you've played the entire series. While the gameplay may have been short it was still was enjoyable and ran smoothly. No game-breaking bugs or glitches actually I don't believe there were any glitches or bugs. Graphics are so good that even games today can hardly compare them. AI corresponds and adapts to your difficulty with BIG BOSS EXTREME being the most difficult. The only this game a 9/10 is because so many gamers dislike the cut scenes so I do to be fair. This is not a game for people who don't the time to enjoy the story because in the end the story is the supreme feature of this game. Conspiracies, check. Old Snake, check.     For fans of the stealth genera, you will want to buy this game. This game can be hard at times, but for hardcore players this is a good thing. The boss fights are amazing, and the story goes along perfectly. There are some flaws, and some aspects are overrated. One of the biggest points is that there are a lack of checkpoints throughout the game. Overall though for a $10 pre-owned MGS4,For fans of the stealth genera, you will want to buy this game.     This is an amazing installment in the Metal Gear franchise with the return of the lovely hero, Solid, or now known as "Old Snake". The story may be a bit over-complicated at times but it still holds of atrociously well, one of my gripes though, is that the boss battles aren't as good or memorable as in the previous games.

    Metal Gear Solid 4 has pretty much everything you need in Metal Gear. Funny moments, Customization, Gripping story, Stealth Action, and the final chapter in Snake's Life. How can you not love this game.

    A true masterpiece, worthy of being remembered decades from now. It is the pinnacle of cinematic games, not just because of it's nigh unparalleled production values and ingenious narrative, but also because it's got solid gameplay to back it up. I mean it; the gameplay in MGS4 is the best of the series. Aside from some awful boss fights, this game is exemplary.

    This was a very good entry to the series. The gameplay was fun, even if we got to play less then half of the game. The problem is that the game was half cutscene. It got a little boring at times. But, I still think this game is a good entry to the MG series and a fitting end to the solid snake and big boss story.

    Grandioso, Kojima lo hace de nuevo, y cierra de la mejor forma que podría hacer con la saga, el único pero es que redujo bastante la cantidad de jefes, pero lo sabe recompensar con la nostalgia e historia.

    Like Grand Theft Auto IV (also released in 2008), this entry was hailed by critics as being the franchise's best installment on its launch day. While that is certainly arguable, there's no denying that MGS IV took advantage of the PS3's technology. This entry is one of the most impressive looking games on the PS3. It's also loaded with all the nutty features, hidden Easter eggs and eccentric bad guys the series is well known for. Of course, it's not for everyone. But if you're a die-hard MGS fan, you will love it despite all its imperfections.     metal gear solid 4 guns of the la-lei-loo-lei-lo best in series in my oppinion so many memroable moments so many throwbacks this to me is when the metal gear series ended.
