  • Summary: Max & the Magic Marker will be familiar to fans of platform games but provides a unique twist that allows the player's imagination to literally run wild. The player must use the magic marker to solve puzzles, overcome obstacles, and defeat enemies. On the Wii, the player will use the nunchuk for player movement while the remote controls your marker. At any point the player can pause the action to draw their way out of sticky situations. Max, the game's hero, is a young boy who loves to draw. One day he receives a mysterious orange marker in the mail. As he begins drawing with the mysterious marker he quickly notices it has magical powers. Anything Max draws starts moving on the paper and comes to life. The monster he draws begins messing around with Max's artwork and so Max decides to draw himself into his picture and that is where the adventure begins.… Expand

    A fine example of how pointing technology can add something worthwhile and extra to a platformer. There's plenty of game to get your head around, and it's all delivered with wonderful presentation - including enough colour to fill a huge box of Crayola - and infectious music that stays in your mind for hours.

    Max and the Magic Marker is an innovative and amusing platformer. Even though it's suitable for a younger crowd, older gamers will still enjoy it's ingenious challenges.

    I struggle with claiming the game is great for younger, uninitiated gamers because I cut my teeth on much more challenging, varied, and interesting platformers at a young age, but that audience is there. For the rest of us, Max and the Magic Marker is a cute and fun, albeit simplistic, romp through an upbeat, pretty, childlike fantasy world that does some neat things but struggles to stay consistently engaging.

    Max & the Magic Marker makes for a decent kids game to add to your Move enabled collection, but despite having some interesting gameplay points it stops short of doing anything deep with the mechanics at hand.
