Origins is a fun excursion into the not-so distant past.

Still, this minimal-frills two-pack is definitely entertaining while it lasts. [Holiday 2012, p.76]

As a compilation itself, Marvel Vs Capcom: Origins makes no sense since it is not showing any true origin to the beloved franchise. Both game have not aged very well, still showing the same balance issues from the past. It's a well done package, but designed only for nostalgic gamers and curious people.

As copies of the modern versions can be picked up for a comparably low cost, with a still existent online community, I cannot recommend this to anyone but an old school fan looking to revisit some memories.

Marvel vs Capcom: Origins is a bland and unexciting update of a couple of classics that have long been superseded. [December 2012, p82]

It's an excellent port that reintroduces to an era before the Marvel Cinematic Universe when Marvel and Capcom were constant collaborators in the arcades.

Pros? Excellent HD remodeling of the character sprites and stages, however, the additional arcade skin helps retain the retro aspect of the games; excellent online experience; nostalgic.

Cons: Dated appeal to anyone outside Capcom and Marvel's most devoted gamers; an underwhelming experience in comparison to more successful Capcom ports such as Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Street Fighter III: Third Strike; for $15 (USD), there's not enough to justify the price tag.
