Magic Ball is a great PSN game, with a bright and vibrant look, an endearing sense of character and some wholly addictive, if rather derivative, gameplay.
-
If you’re a fan of games like Breakout and Arkanoid, Magic Ball brings a refreshing new approach to that genre that most developers have avoided until this point.
-
Magic Ball isn’t quite as innovative as other PSN games out there and it certainly won’t test your brain, but it’s a decent downloadable title that may deserve your attention.
-
Magic Ball is a streamlined, simple game that's fun to play. There aren't many frills, there's no story to speak of, and it's not incredibly long, but if you feel like a good brick-braking game, purchasing this title should be an easy decision.
-
Magic Ball is fun enough while it lasts, but it'll only last you a weekend or so at most.
-
While the 3D facelift is nice and the stages are extremely cute, the lack of level variety and short gameplay may have you forgetting about it in the long run.
-
With only two themes you'll soon grow tired of blasting knights and pirates, and the two-player modes will only be of interest to a small number of people. Most definitely worth a look, but not quite up there with the best available on the PSN.
-
A fun, simple and at times compulsive game which is worth a look if you’re a fan of the classic Breakout.
-
Magic Ball is a charming title that will appeal to a much wider range of gamers than most PSN downloads. It’s a little short, but younger gamers will appreciate the smooth learning curve and the two online modes will provide a little extra life, especially as they come complete with leaderboards.
-
Magic Ball's short-lived thrills are anything but magical, but they make for a decent distraction.
-
The actual game play is practically bullet proof, as one would expect. It’s the lack of themes or even additional modes that holds back Magic Orbz from being a must have purchase.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKIt loses whatever grip it has on your attention too quickly. [Mar 2009, p.103]
-
All together, I found Magic Ball to be pretty bland, and to top things off the game tells you that it's to be continued, with spots already reserved for additional episodes, obviously meaning that there's some DLC down the road.
