The combat system really improved, and LEGO The Hobbit is very varied when it comes to skills and missions, but it isn't engrossing at all, I'd even say it's forgettable.

This game is with out a doubt one of the worst games i've ever played, for having repeditive gameplay, boring missions anf off-putting voice works. the only good things about this game is the world and the visuals, but that doesn't hold up a game. But this game alone, takes a huge crap of one of my most beloved franchises. Expand

I played it and loved it, just like I loved Lego Lord of the Rings. This means that later in March or April 2015, we should get some DLC arriving for the third installment. At the moment, deserves a 6/10, but because I do not need to bother reviewing it after the DLC comes out, the stunning graphics, fun lego gameplay and casual feels give this an 8 - including the DLC that will please me in the future. Well, what to say about this game? I really liked the movies very much (but the first one is better) but this game wasn't what I was expecting. However, the missions are so repetitive and we use almost every time the same characters and there are not so much different abilities like in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. So, if you are a fan of The Hobbit and/or of the LEGO games and you don't care about the negative points listed here, go there and buy it. If not, just save your money for other games. Expand

It's like they didn't even try. Dull and annoying throughout, that's the best way I can explain it. One thing I DID like in this game was the added glowing circle under the character that you are playing at the time (very helpful in battles), but they probably HAD to do that since every scene was dark and gloomy and many of the characters look exactly the same, plus at times you had so many characters with you tripping over you getting in your way, just annoying. ALSO, there was waaaay too much "story"... I would play for 5 minutes then story, play another 10 minutes and BAM more story and on and on, it was just too much story time and not enough quality playing time. They could have done so much with it being based on the Hobbit but as I already said, it's like they didn't even bother to try. I completed the first round of levels (to the end of the story) but I just couldn't get into it so I am done and will not be playing on. I sneaked my son's Batman 3 he got for Christmas and am playing that now and it's a great game, true to the Lego series. Expand

Another good Lego game. It doesn't take too much skill and is fun and easy to complete. I am kind of gutted they didn't wait to release this after the third film had come out

LEGO: The Hobbit has become the black sheep of the franchise and it's well deserved, mainly due to a poor technical section. It looks like the whole game was made in a rush in every aspect. Not even the humour is as remarkable as in other games of the franchise.

Our advice? Don’t bother picking up Lego: The Hobbit now. It’s a great game, but it’s not a full game. Instead, pick it up later this year when The Hobbit: There and Back Again comes out. It will likely be available at a discount price then and together with its DLC that will probably be at or just under the price of a full game. That way you can enjoy Lego: The Hobbit the way it was meant to be played.
