LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes

You should give a try to Lego Batman 2: it's a fun and pleasant experience for players of all ages.

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes raises the bar with gameplay, presentation and fun. You will be playing this for hours after you complete the main mission. That's something you couldn't say with complete joy in your voice with previous LEGO titles. This certainly will be tough to top when the next LEGO game is released.

So much has been improved, and with a tightly scripted plot where a gun known as the Destructor makes a perfect weapon for a Lego Joker, cinematic camera shots and a clear love for the series, TT Games has surpassed its previous titles. This is a huge game, with a world fans won't want to leave.

Simply put, LEGO Batman 2 has restored my faith in the ability for a game with these larger-than-life super heroes to be fun and entertaining without resorting to making them evil or just making them punch each other a lot.

All the DC Super Heroes join the party with Batman and his opponent Joker – and this party's in an open world that provides many riddles and fun as well as a wide range of gameplay-options. Once again, there is no online-mode and the loading times are as tedious as some leghty missions. Besides, there are not enough checkpoints to make a break and to save the game. However, the characters engage in discussions and dialogue, the world to explore is huge and the story offers a lot of humour. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is a great game for both young and grown up gamers.

The best LEGO game to date, and in fact one of the best Batman games ever. It becomes a sandbox, but this is not the best of Lego Batman 2. Its level design shines, with great situations and challenges that will keep us playing for hours.

I polished off the story in about nine hours, but I spent the next 11 chasing down bricks and characters -- and I'm still not done.

A step in the right direction for a series that was flirting with stagnation. With 50 available characters, a slew of corresponding skills and abilities, an open world that encourages exploration and discovery, a halfway decent story, and rock solid control, this one is quite the package.

Still, even with its virtual omission of anyone not with "man" at the end of their name doesn't keep LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes from being fun. Watching a beloved hero like Batman fight baddies and his own issues with Superman is a great combination, and it's all presented in the family-friendly LEGO wrapper we've come to expect from Telltale. If you or anyone in your house is a fan of the caped crusader - even the newest iteration - you can rest assured that LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes will be a hit.

LEGO Batman 2 is a magnificent new entry for the LEGO Games saga, offering new game mechanics and lots of hours of enjoyment.

It's a treat to see super heroes nteract with one another. The script is great, the gameplay is strong, and it's a strong step in the right direction. If you enjoy previous LEGO titles, you'll be right at home here.

LEGO Batman 2 may have suffered from the series' collective fatigue in a few places, yet still stands as one of the best, most enriching puzzle platformers to grace home consoles.

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is a fantastic achievement for Telltale Games, the Lego games having been yearly (even bi-yearly) released since 2005 have never really moved forward the franchise, until this iteration and it is a fantastical leap.

The sad reality, though, is that most will probably dismiss LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes as just another block-based kids' game. Don't be one of those chumps, because it's a valiant shot at the stars, built upon a solid brick foundation, which should be applauded. Is it simple? Yes, but often devilishly so, and that doesn't stop it from simultaneously becoming one of the best superhero outings and the definitive LEGO game thus far. [August 2012, p77]

The most ambitious LEGO game to date is an open-world delight that excels in its depth and the satisfaction that each new collectible brings. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is well worth your time, even if it sometimes shows the developer's inexperience with the genre.

LEGO Batman 2 is a true milestone for the series. A brick-made Batman rose up to the challenge and overtook it's predecessor by light years. The game's biggest assets are: an introduction of an open world, an interesting story and surprising plot twists. The new LEGO Batman is almost addictive – exploring the game's world can take long hours, and visiting previously completed levels isn't a strange thing.

The inclusion of a fully voiced cast and the open-world setting of Gotham make this one of the most ambitious games in the LEGO series to date. If you only play one Batman game that comes out this year, it should definitely be LEGO Batman 2.

LEGO Batman 2 will be remembered for two reasons: it's the first spoken LEGO game of all time and it's also an open-world adventure. Not perfect at all, but a very good game indeed... can't wait for the Lord of the Ring's one!

LEGO Batman 2 is refreshingly straightforward, rarely frustrating and tailored perfectly to younger gamers. It also treats adults with respect, with universally appealing humour and gameplay that is relatively free of faff and full of fun. Though it's unfortunately dragged down by some technical hitches, on the whole it's a heroic effort and probably the best LEGO game to date. Thanks to the open world and voice acting, it's certainly the most ambitious.

It wasn't easy to do something new with LEGO Batman, but TT Games surely tried to and the result is a nice game, packed with a lot of puzzles, powers and characters. If you liked the first episode, this sequel won't disappoint you.

With an expansive city to explore between levels, LEGO Batman 2 can easily be a likened to an Arkham City-lite. The promise of playing with other DC Super Heroes isn't brought to its full potential as the story remains laser-focused on Batman, Robin, and Superman, but there's a fun family-friendly adventure for these three leads.

The inclusion of the free roaming open world aspect is a huge step in the right direction, but is let down by the lack of a mini-map and some extremely shoddy vehicle work.
