    + Fun Gameplay
    + Good Story
    + Nice Characters
+ Once unlocked, being able to play as ANY character in the next chapter.
+ Button remapping. Not completely custom, but a great feature none the less.
    - Cut-scenes are of poor quality. They appear murky and turbid.
    - Voice acting quality is quite poor too.
    - Voice acting is not great, especially on AI enemies.
    - Boss battles are not special. At all.
    - Missions are repetitive at times.
    - Minor graphical bugs.

    As a game, I give Killzone a 7.3, but as a remake, I give it 6.2.

But since this is the only way that I've played Killzone, I will give it the collected score of 7 (since gameplay and story outweigh the visuals in my opinion).

Believe me, it didn't. The game was marred by a shaky framerate and terrible AI. However, the was still very enjoyable, with a great storyline and a great selection of weapons. Rather than rehash a review I've already written of the PS2 version, I'm instead going to list what makes this version different (and in some ways, much better).

The PS2 version obviously looked too good for the hardware, and when you start up Killzone HD, you can see why. The game is beautiful. Sure, it's dated by todays standards, but it still looks damn good. The animations are still as impressive as ever. Gone is a lot of the pop-in, and the game runs at a steady framerate, feeling buttery smooth compared to the original. The textures are crisp, and so are the models. The facial features for Templar, Luger, Hakha, and Rico are outright amazing during the menu selection. You'll probably wonder how this even ran on the PS2 at all (it barely did). The smooth framerate is a HUGE step up from the PS2 version, because not only did it make the game LOOK bad, it also made it PLAY terrible. Now, the aiming is corrected and you don't have to endure slow-motion gunfights and cinematic setpieces.

The AI is still broken. Most of the guys just stand there, waiting for you to pump bullets into them just as they did in the original. The difficulty spike is still there in the later missions (as in, grenade launcher Helghast out of nowhere killing you right before another checkpoint). The awkward animations are still there for your allies and enemies. It's good that they fixed the problem with the aiming, but the AI still being dumb still hurts the gameplay a lot. Still, nothing is as bad as...

No Online multiplayer. Yes, you can still splitscreen with a friend and take on the AI, but the AI is so braindead that you'll just be fighting for more kills instead of actually trying to stay alive. Multiplayer servers wouldn't be populated, but at least, if you wanted, you could hop online every now and then and maybe find a game. The multiplayer is impressive because it has a good variety of game modes and maps, but without online, it just seems pointless. After beating the campaign, there just isn't much else to do since online is gone, which kills the replay factor.

So, overall, the HD improved the visuals, framerate, and aiming, but kept the bad AI and took out the multiplayer. If that sounds like a fair tradeoff for $15, have at it. It's still a good shooter. Great, even. Just held back by the AI and lack of online. I would suggest playing it, definitely, but do expect the problems I have listed. If you can live with bad AI and a game that's over with when you beat the singleplayer for $15, then by all means, get this game.

    +Sharper visuals
    +Less pop-in
    +Smooth Framerate
    +Smooth Aiming
    -AI still sucks
    -No Online Multiplayer

    Overall: 8/10

Killzone HD is a decent experience. Back when it was made, the game was fun, yet not spectacular. The game is still fun, but just feels somewhat outdated.

The first Killzone was very good at its time, but even then there was some very annoying mistakes. There were bugs everywhere, and the one player campaign was too monotone, so it got boring really easily. Of course, they couldn't change the gameplay itself, so I don't consider it a mistake, but they should have fixed at least the graphic bugs.

Shooter en primera persona que no destaca en nada ademas de ser muy basico. Fue muy sobrevalorado en su momento.

Not as good as the original, easier on the eyes though. There are little things which make gameplay awkward such as the night vision being way too bright and the sniper rifle being near impossible to use in some parts due to how bright the orange is.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m not sure if this contain spoilers, that’s why I add a warning just in case.

Killzone is developed by Guerrilla Games and it’s published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, and it’s about people who had rebuilt their planet, Helghan, and attacks ISA (Interplanetary Strategic Alliance) by invading the planet Vetka and Captain Jan Templar has been assigned with Shadow Marshal Luger and Rico Valasquez to find an ISA operative named Gregor Hakha. I like how the story of the campaign was made, and how the visuals were designed; however, no matter which difficulty you’re on, the way the game was played is disappointingly hard unless if you play one of the characters once you unlock them later. My biggest issues with the game is the way how to play it. You know how in Halo and Call of Duty, you have to either press the A button if you’re playing both Halo and Call of Duty on the Xbox, or the cross button if you’re playing Call of Duty on the PlayStation, Your character jumps? Well, in the first Killzone game, you can’t do that. Why? My other biggest issue with the first Killzone game which really annoys me and almost bores out of my mind, until I played only one character throughout the campaign, is how you have to reach the checkpoint when you get to the middle of the level you’re playing on the campaign. I feel like that was unnecessary. It should’ve had more checkpoints the same way as Halo and Call of Duty did. On a positive note, if you’re planning on playing the campaign and once you have unlocked all 3 of the 4 characters, I highly recommend picking Rico throughout the campaign, because he is easy to play and easy to beat the game. In the end, it’s a fun game in the way how the story was told aside from the poorly script writing that I’ve heard about, and I’m looking forward to playing Killzone: Liberation if I get a PS Vita, and Killzone 2 sometime soon and I hope that they’re better than the first one as far as I’m playing those games in my own experience.

I'm not that big of a fan of the Halo series, but this game is honestly just a mediocre attempt at making a Halo game.

It's just a really generic sci-fi war shooter. And a very average one too. Everything about it is generic and average. The shooting, the environments, the enemies, the story, the characters. Would still rather play this than Halo, though. This "Halo killer" didn't kill Halo for me, because it was already dead to me.

_not a simple feeling from passing KIllzone Classics HD, most likely it is comparable to watching an outdated action movie on a VHS cassette, with the same translation, cut scenes in order to save space on the film, distorted sound, picture, and there is nothing wrong with that. I sincerely wanted to know how it all began, I found out, I liked it, in the passage of the following parts - definitely, to be

"The first Killzone is highly controversial: the most hyped shooter on PS2, the game turned out to be overly complicated, drawn out, and just plain crooked." - Kirill Perevozchikov from Kanobu (Kanobu.ru is a Russian-language infotainment website about computer games and other types of entertainment), awarded Killzone the lowest score (below average) of all publications, namely 4 out of 10. The most criticized by the author was the indistinguishable graphics of the HD version of the game, an excessively difficult level of difficulty and incorrectly placed checkpoints.

_the first first-person shooter in the KIllzone universe will remain in my memory as a complex and atmospheric world, invented from scratch by the developers, old and clumsy in the best sense of these words. This is how it should be, it's always hard to start, especially when it's the starting line in such a troubled exciting series
