    While I was part of the minority who thoroughly enjoyed the first Killzone, I have to say that Killzone 2 is a major leap forward for the franchise. Guerrilla has taken their FPS & made it a gritty, visceral experience that gave me an honest sensation of uneasiness about entering its fields of combat (yes, I almost felt afraid to enter the game it immersed me that much). Guerrilla has taken their FPS & made it a gritty, visceral experience that gave me an honest sensation of uneasiness about entering its fields of combat (yes, I almost felt afraid to enter the game it immersed me that much). They have achieved this not only with incredible graphics & environmental detail (from lingering dust in the air & your rifle scope after close explosions to rebar seen under bullet shattered concrete pillars), but they have succeeded in fleshing out the Helgast enemies. They are no longer just the 2 dimensional cardboard cutouts that pop out in fixed locations for me to shoot. From the opening speech of Helghast leader, Emperor Visari (again masterfully portrayed by Brian Cox) I knew this wasn't going to be any ordinary arcade shooter. Guerrilla has given us an enemy as tenacious & fanatical about fighting off invaders of their homeland as the SS was in the later days of World War II. They run & duck under cover when shot at and they cry out in pain when shot. The have become actual characters for me to know & fear. People who have long forsaken any diplomacy (I say people because I felt like I was fighting people, unlike other games such as COD4 online, while a superior game, still felt more like a game of tag) Alas, there is a little bit on the down side. Some of the in game dialogue did get a bit repetitive (Nice shot! yadda yadda) & somewhat juvenile. But even that wasn't enough for me to drop the score down a whole point. This is a game that deserve every one of its five stars from Playstation Magazine. To me, well worth the new release price.… Expand

    This game is seriously the BEST FPS i've ever experienced. The online is awesome, the story is amazing. The graphics are jaw dropping. What more do I need to say?? If you own a PS3 then you MUST get this game, you won't regret it. If you don't have a PS3 then I feel bad for you LOL! KZ2 for the win! Great job Sony & Guerilla Games!

    I love this game great action great story and the battle feel like real battles even tho i love this game some people wont cuz how the shooting is it not like COD4 or Resistance those game are fast pace shooter this is kinda more slow pace your guy dont move as fast as you wud in COD4 of Resistance but i love this game if you have a PS3 give this game a shot you might like it still.

    If you are debating about buying this game then dont cause it is worth every penny. The graphics are better then anything i have ever seen there are some parts in KZ2 that look better then crysis and pc fans said a console could never look better then crysis bull crap. The AI is really impressive so if you try to hide they will flush you out anyway they can. The story is pretty dang good also not better then MGS4 but it is good. The music what words can i say to describe the music other then the best in any video game to date if you dont have a surround sound system get one cause the music is amazing.     This game is amazing, the sounds effects are incredible and the level of immersion is unmatched. Graphically, I've never seen anything like it on a console game. Gameplay takes a bit of getting used to, but once you've played an hour or so you realise it is top draw. I had heard the storyline was weak, however I found it solid and got engaged in the characters.     Fantastic game. some cant get over the controls but stick with it. its the whole package. Worth owning a PS3 for this one.

    The BEST FPS on the PS3. PERIOD. I own both Resistance 1 and 2, Bioshock, Half-Life: The Orange Box, and more..and Killzone 2 blows them away!
    If you're a PS3 owner, you need this game to show to you all your friends. If you're a FPS fan, you need this game.

    This is some of the best FPS gaming I've ever experienced. Multiplayer doesn't get stale. Warzone should be incorporated in some extent to every game a constant objective change is the way to go. Hours and hours of fun. Highly Recommend this to anyone and everyone with a PlayStation 3 and if you don't have a PlayStation 3 get one Just for this game.

    If the rating on this site can go higher than 10, this game would be it, the graphics are amazing, the moving is realistic, the gameplay is NOTHING like other fps's, in this game you have to actualy THINK. i do not know why people complain about the controls, you can change them to match CoD. This is the best game i have ever owned.

    This game is rock solid. The action is intense. The strategy involved is phenominal and not found in any other FPS I have ever played. I have been playing since the original wolfenstein. If you love FPS games, you will love Killzone 2. This game simply kicks ass. P.S. The single player was decent and had it's moments but lets be real, games these days are rated based on the multiplayer.

    Best PS 3 game. GFX are spectacular in single player smoke, dust, explosions, cut scenes and player/ai anamations the best ever. Multiplayer also fantastic classes range from engineer with auto turrets to sniper with invisibillity cloak. AND yes i am PS 3 fanboy 4ever.

    Highly polished and full of white-knuckle action, Killzone easily becomes what Halo 3 is for 360 and Crysis for PC, for PS3 - a benchmark. Graphics are out of this world, the sense of fighting against a ruthless enemy in a very hostile world is overwhelming, the atmosphere is dark and moody, and the AI is cunning .     I have not had so much fun with a console FPS in a long time. The online component is simply stunning and I have a feeling I'll be letting my XBL account deactivate because of this. With lack of a better ability to describe it this game is just that much fun and it amazing.

    The story has been great so far, graphically its stunning and the physics work as they should, just like real life objects. The MP badges system its deep and the maps are great, combining tactical and gun and run. Love this game and can't stop playing it :D I'm writing this from work 'cause at home all i do right now its play killzone 2.

Its not cod4, its not meant to be cod4, n if EVERY game were exactly like cod4 thered be no point for anyone to make any other fps's.     Killzone, although not perfect, is a fantastic game. The visuals are the hand down current champion in the console gaming industry, the score is perfect for the tone of the game, and the multiplayer is deep and challenging.

KZ2 offers the best MP as well as the best SP experience. The online WARZONE is just a blast . The SP offers the most intense campaigns along with the hardest boss fights ever seen in a game.     What can you say about a game that in all reality brings nothing new to the genre? You can say that it has perfected so many aspects of the typical FPS that it defies description, and that's not an easy feat! Did I say perfect? I think I did! Is it the same "save the world" type story? Sure. Still a FPS that tells you where to go next (take out that tank, go down that ladder)? You What can you say about a game that in all reality brings nothing new to the genre?     What a great game!!! Graphics are like none other you truly need to experience it for yourself to see what i'm talking about. Game play is excellent, very gritty and aggressive, has a very good pace. Online is the most fun i have had in an online FPS shooter, i won't be putting this one down for a long time to come.

    By sound and graphics alone this game deserves a 11/10 it is the best game to have ever graced a console to date. I care less about the story but the game play was very fun, specially the desert level with the bolt gun, best fun I've had since Goldeneye on the N64!. I LOVE the mech suit or Exo whatever it's called I hope to see it in multiplayer. The multiplayer just brought it By sound and graphics alone this game deserves a 11/10 it is the best game to have ever graced a console to date.     I havnt played the story yet but the Online alone is worth 60$. Epic fun and well balanced classes. The thing that i love most about this game is: It takes skill. You wont succeed if you camp, the lack of auto aim is also a plus and best of all: you cant throw grenades 2000 feet across the map!

    Stunning game. Ranks up there with Call of Duty 4 for the title of best ever FPS ever made. Co-op mode would have been a great addition as you spend most of the game working with a team mate. But other than this It is truly stunning game.

Some people have moaned that the aiming is bad and it could have been better in places but this is mainly from jealous xbox owners who are gutted that it can never be made on there systems. All i can say to the people who don't like it for what ever reason or find the aiming to difficult is to stick with COD4 or 5. ZZZZZZZ. There's never any variation; there's no way to really change what has already happened and call your game a "WW2 Sim". Now, what's wrong exactly with Killzone 2's storyline in similarity? Isn't this story EXACTLY the same thing? Country (in this case, another planet; Helghan) invades another country (also in this canse, another planet; Vekta), tries to take over because they were agitated / annoyed / pushed too the limit / feeling oppressed / find themselves inheritantly superior / the people they're invading are the 'real oppressors'. Invaded country holds off as long as possible before finally pushing invaders away. Invaded now become the invaders. New invaders do what they went to do, but get stomped in the process. Ladies and gents; this is a war game. If you don't like war, this isn't for you. This game is what all war games dream to be, just in year 4010. The gameplay is extremely immersive, the level design in singleplayer and multiplayer is not only intense, but never boring, and the animation / graphic / sound performance is unparalleled. Where in the Halo franchise, I felt like i was playing something akin to a cartoon with guns, with this I feel like I'm in the middle of a war. And I freaking love it. It's a top notch game with better multiplayer than I've ever been in. It's not gimped to the point of being an entirely new game - everything is exactly the same, except for the removal of cover-taking, which is a bonus to forwarding gameplay. Love this game, will likely play it for as long as the servers are up. Which I predict will be up until Killzone 3 is released.… Expand

    I got this game as a birthday gift. I'd been up all night so when I installed it it was about 1 in the morning. By t he time I managed to unplug myself it was almost 8:00 AM. that should speak volumes about how compelling this game is. A mixture of unbelievable graphics, gameplay that manages to feel somehow heavy and visceral and an utterly believable scene and storyline combined to I got this game as a birthday gift.     Some people may find that the controls are "bad" but I think they feel like this due to the realistic game physics. You can actually feel the heavyness of your character unlike other FPS where you just feel like moving a camera around. And they are such imposing tagerts too, red eyes, deathly voices and a unqestionable willingness to die for helghan and to take you down with them as they die. Its INTENSE. The story is actually great, if you read it on KZ.com, but its not expressed right in the game, leaving many to feel there is none, especially those who have not played KZ1. Online is where I think it shines. Frantic battles, chaos, grenades going off, ATACs shooting from above, turrerts from below, invisible snipers on your tail, saboteurs disguising themselves as your team, tactical insertion points..... its just amazing. Sure, the controls are a bit heavy, but give it a week. Once you get used to them, you wil love them. Turn up the sensitivity on the options will ease it up even better Any FPS fan should own this game… Expand

    Where it lacks in an indepth and gripping story it makes up for in beautifull visuals, The Enemies AI is incredibl tactfull in their approach at war while your allies AI is less so it still manages to pull the attention of your enemies from you making it a nice change from the norm where you the player are not always walking around with a target on your forehead. Other then that the Where it lacks in an indepth and gripping story it makes up for in beautifull visuals, The Enemies AI is incredibl tactfull in their approach at war while your allies AI is less so it still manages to pull the attention of your enemies from you making it a nice change from the norm where you the player are not always walking around with a target on your forehead. Other then that the Gameplay is much of what we've seen from other great fps Its just been done better and extroadinarly so by killzone2. The Multiplayer is a beautifull hybrid of Battlefield badcompany, call of duty and team fortress 2 and it works amazingly so class systems and levellng up strategically make it one of the most enjoyable online experiences to date.     This is by far the best FPS ever to grace a gaming console. Never before have i played a game where you feel so much in the middle of complete and utter chaos. The enermy AI is brilliant, making the game even more realalistic.

    The controls are tight and the multi-player is sick. Even the story, contrary to what all of the critics are saying, is somewhat decent. The ONLY downfall is no co-op. Oh this game could've been perfect-- I'll give it a 10 even though it's deserving of a 9.5.

Killzone 2 doesn't exactly innovate, instead it just makes sure that everything blends together properly to make sure the experience holds your attention.     I was in th beta for this game, so when i heard every one on the interweb how good or bad it was going to be, i just laughed. Because this game is not only the best FPS on the PS3, but esely one of the best FPS's on any console. the online was better than i remembered in the beta. The singleplayer has a great story compared to other fps', and I felt that the ending was just magnificent with the help of Rico. Elite mode was sick, and attempting to beat it without losing any lives proved the hardest gaming goal I have ever achieved.     Epic game indeed. The visuals are outstanding and the intense enemy AI will always keep you on your toes. Using cover in this game is essential to your survival. The class based multiplayer is very intense. The dialog is kinda stale and the story is competent for a first person shooter. The voice acting is good but don't expect oscar worthy performances, its a video game after all.

    the single-player is fun, with great weapons, different locations, and many bosses. The Multiplayer is the best part: very chaotic, strategic, and FUN!
    This game is a must have for any shooter fan.

The controls take some getting used to but that's because of the weight of the weapons and the lack of an Aim-Assist (in games like CoD and RFOM when your crosshair is close enough to someone it automatically targets them). The controls are fine, work great. It was the complaint about latency (lag) when trying to aim or move. Cross Color Filter Reduction is causing havoc for many gamers. Turn this off and BAM! Problem solved, controls feel more responsive. Graphics: Best in class. Best of the Best. At first, they didn't seem to be that great. In some ways I felt Gears of War 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 looked better. Until I moved past the first 2 levels. Once you get to the 3rd stage, wow. Unbelievable. Everything really begins to pick up and you are in for an outstanding visual treat. It is truly a stunning game that will amaze anyone with the high level of detail and thumping crisp sound. Oh the sound. It's an overload of the senses. Innovation: Many people say the game did not innovate. I would happily challenge anyone to debate on this topic. Sure many things included are standard FPS features. Level styles, turret and vehicle segments, cover system, destructible environment, online class system, and proximity chat. Yet, not many games have been able include all of this within one title. Actually, I can only think of one game that has done all of these in one installment; Killzone 2. The developers made the cover system work well for the first time in an FPS while remaining in First Person View. F.E.A.R. dabbled at it, but it felt tacked on and weak. Rainbow Six Vegas has a working version, but changes to 3rd person to make it effective. There is far more destructible environments than I initially expected which really adds to the immersion of a great title. Story: Not Oscar winning dialog or story. No. People complain about the fowl language used in the game. To those people who complain about it; How many military branches do you know of where, when they are at war and are in the heat of battle talk like a college professor? If I'm being shot at while on the battlefield of a war, you better be %$#-@#$% #*$^&@#! right I am going to get fowl mouthed. Its your typical macho men war style talk. What do you expect? Dialog found in Driving Miss Daisy? I hope not. Multiplayer: Community. Deep. Addictive. Fast. Chaotic. Everything you want in an online shooter. Class system with customizable options (similar to FFXI sub-jobs) really flesh out the online space and turn it into an FPS/RPG. Leveling up hasn't felt so rewarding since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. With so many classes, weapons, badges, ribbons, and trophies to unlock. There is plenty there to keep everyone busy for many many months (or years) to come. Complete with leaderboards, stat tracking, Clan system, Join friend/clan options. Doesn't get much better than this. Co-op: Minimal co-op options, but with the option to have online bots what's so different from this and Gears' Horde mode? Sure a co-op story would have been nice, but I am happy the team behind Killzone 2 remained focus on creating one of the best multiplayer experiences on any platform. This game will be bested, but it is going to take some time. Regardless of your current console persuasion. It would be a shame to miss playing this game.     this game has 2 b the best 1st person shooter EVER. I brought some friends over to my house 2 play Killzone 2, ( mind u, these friends love Gears Of War 2 ), & they fell in love w| Killzone 2. It is definetedly better than Gears, & anythin else the 360 has to offer (which is all 1st person shooters) I can`t wait till Killzone 3!

    This game plays like a dream and looks fantastic, I have read that some people have had problems with the controls, I have had no such problems, only one sore point, Helghast all have british accents and the hero's all American, movie cliche or what? To sum up, best fps ever.

Jeesh a company reinvents the typical A.I. to more than just running out in the open and dying to an A.I. that dodges grenandes, flanks your position and isnt afraid to rush. Killzone 2 draws a line between casual gamers and hardcore gamers, you beat this game on expert, every shooter after it will be a cake walk. This game is a masterpiece and it sets the bar for shooters in the years to come, and like Vinny B said, if you can't figure out the controls or don't like the aiming, stick to COD4, Killzone 2 is out of your league.… Expand

    Obviously, the people who said the controls dont work are either the same person or Xbox 360 fanboys, because Guerrila patched the controls about 2 weeks ago. They also allowed you to customize it anyway you wanted.

Players are forced to think intelligently (something unheard of in COD/Halo/Resistance), with impressive AI and devastating aiming (especially on Elite mode), the SP is not a mode to be ignored or looked down on!
    Now onto the star of the game. The multiplayer mode of Killzone 2 really >makes< the game. A well made set of game types combined with balanced weapons and classes allows for an enjoyable experience not often found. This is down to two main reasons, the maps - which allow fair and competitive play for both sides equally - and the longevity - each game you play will be different, not once will a game play out the same. Combined these allow the game to thrive into one of the best shooters on the market (if not >the< best).

    DLC is something always on gamers' minds these days, and GG has not left Killzone 2 alone. The Steel and Titanium pack recently released has given 2 maps, Vetka Cruiser and Wasteland Bullet, adding new levels of tactical gameplay which were perhaps missing in the original maps. Perhaps the real bonus though, and music to old fans ears, is the possibility of maps from the originall Killzone, as "retro" maps have been confirmed. Not only are more maps being introduced, but GG are always making patches, improving gameplay and fixing any errors.

    Of course the game >does< have some problems. One that irks many gamers is the Assault Class, your standard, double armour, rocket launching, health regenerating fellow. While this is definitely something gamers are not happy about (generally speaking), a well aimed headshot does the job! And the fact they are allowed does not ruin gameplay (and often servers ban this class as well as rocket launchers). The only other issue is the occassional error seen caused by network problems. These have steadily decreased since launch and GG is continuing to patch these.

    So if you enjoy your FPS games this is one to add to your collection. This may not be the best shooter ever (it may well be), but you're certainly missing out if you don't buy it!    … Expand

    I used to think that Call of Duty 4/5 were the revolutuion of shooters, but, as most gamers do, they get bored. Then Killzone 2 came prancing along. The graphics are brilliant. The gameplay i would give 9.9 and the Story 9.5. Here we get to the multiplayer. It is superb on many levels and so i would give it one of the best games this year.

    I really enjoyed the story in this game. I haven't played Killzone 1 but I will likely play it now. The ending was kind of disappointing only because it made me want the sequel more. Controls need to be adjusted, I set the sensitivity up a lot. Multiplayer really shines. Only complaint is the lack of weapon variety. Plenty of game modes and the way it is set up is great.

    While the single player leaves something to be desired (like a compelling story), the multiplayer is reason enough to buy this game. Some of the best graphics you will find in any game on the market, great controls, a mix of excellent and meh voice acting, and a wonderful soundtrack combine to create one of the best reasons to own a PS3. Highly recommended.

    I had my doubts about Guerilla Games being able to live up to the hype that they started back in 2005, but my doubt about the title was blown to bits after playing the game in it's completed state.     Simply stunning to play, hectic gun battles, hard as nails enemies, and superb death animations. One helghsast's head was blown off his shoulders by a fellow helghan just as he was a bout to knife me. If you enjoy fps then this is a MUST purchase you will love it.

    Honestly talking, this is an amazing game. Yes the story line is a tad stale, but i dont play games for story so I dont care. The multiplayer is hands down the most "action dense" gameplay I have ever experienced on any console. The graphics are amazing. The gameplay is amazing. The destructibles are jaw dropping. If you own a ps3, get this game.

The controls were clunky at first, but playing through the campaign makes you feel like going from a raw recruit to a grizzled vet. The graphics are SKEET SKEET-worthy, the gameplay is top notch, the physics, interactivity with the environments, and immersive "suck you in" feel makes this my favorite gameKillzone 2 blew me away.     I'll say it again: Killzone 2 is the best console first person shooter ever. It will be bested one day, and that is as it should be, but this game has set the proverbial bar so high we reckon it'll be the king for a good long while... Hail to the king, baby....this game is GOD-LIKE!!!

    This game is amazing. I have never played a more immersive FPS. In some parts of the single player, you are literally fighting for every inch, and sometimes you get pushed back. It feels like a real world. And the online mode is superb. The class system works great with plenty of unlockables. This game will last you for hours on in.

    Outstanding game. Was one of the most amazing gaming experiences in my life. You were thrown into a world of chaos and misery. Blood shed left and right. You felt like you were in the sh!t. The AI was very impressive and would say has set the new standers for a single player experience.

    Awesome singleplayer, addictive multiplayer, amazing graphics and gameplay. By far my fave first person shooter (FPS) out there. What more can i say? Cannot wait till Killzone 3, that will probably be the only game that will surpass killzone 2.

    At first I thought this was just another stupid FPS but after 30 minutes, I knew I was dead wrong. The gameplay mixes your average FPS with other great elements. Xbox may have Halo but Playstation has Killzone.

    One thing I do hate about this website is that spotty teenage Xbox fanboys who did not get enough pocket money from their mommy to buy a proper console for grown ups, spend their time slagging off Killzone. Get a PS3, get a life, grow some balls and hair on them, before you both to comment on ANYTHING in life, let alone a proven AAA game like Killzone 2 ... !!! Muppets !!!

    32 player Warzone maddness! This FPS is the greatest game I've ever played. Even now over 2 years later it's still the king in my book. Even better then Kz 3, which took a huge step back. Every game I play never gets old. Love the custom games! You want to play pistols only match? Check, 30 min warzone mission objectives? Check. Hate rocket launchers and want them removed? Check.     it's brilliant . doesn't have a deep story , or super smooth gameplay , but there are other games that do , KZ2 is different , Killzone 2 gives you a gun , gives a few hard enemies and tells you to unleash hell . it's fun , it's raw , it's on the money and it's the best Killzone game and one of the best ps3 exclusive . this game defines the soul of gaming to the point

Each scene is incredibly well detailed, from the gaps in jerry-rigged cover points letting you sneak in a killing headshot to scarred and scratched textures, the planet feels entirely believable...
