Killer is Dead is yet another Suda masterpiece! Or is it just a childish misogynist slayfest? [Sept 2013]

Your ultimate goal is to slay your enemies with your katana in the most stylish way as possible. Just like in No More Heroes. Killer is Dead is actually surprising similar to No More Heroes. It is all about dodging and countering at the right time. [September p.78]

A unique experience embedded in a disc format. A must-play action oriented game for veteran/experienced players.

Bizarre moments and a great combat system, mixed with a psychological thriller that raises more questions than it gives answers; Killer is Dead is a typical Suda51 game. The game is therefore only suitable if you’re open to an anime-style of storytelling or if you have an unquenchable thirst towards hack and slash action games out of Japan.

Killer is Dead is a hymn to the multifaceted creativity of a game designer still capable of enhancing the vision of the Japanese video game industry.

Those who enjoyed Grasshopper’s previous work or are tired of repeatedly being spoon-fed the same game should check out Killer is Dead before it’s rightfully put on “most underrated game” lists in several years by the same people who criticize it now.

This is what Suda51 fans want. It's fresh, unique and very, very fun, even though we think it could have used some extra weeks of development to erase that feeling of being a little bit rushed, and become a better game.

Just don't play it around any significant others if you value the future of your relationship at all. [Issue#235, p.80]

Killer is Dead has an excellent technical department, but it's short duration, alongside certain graphic issues, prevent it from sticking out of the crowd. Fans of Suda 51 will love it, while the rest may very well hate it or just be overwhelmed by it's particular gameplay.

This is definitely one hell of a weird experience. The art style is magnificent, the combat exhilarating and the soundtrack interesting. Interesting is also an apt word to describe the humor in the game. However, the level design is rather repetitive and the much advertised 'gigolo' missions are rather limited in options. If you liked similar titles like No More Heroes and Lollipop Chainsaw, you might just like Killer is Dead, if you're willing to overlook its flaws.

Critics are bashing it and critisizing it for what it's not. This isn't your next DmC or Bayonneta. If you're a Suda 51 fan then you already know you're gonna love it. It is very enjoyable. The story is all kinds of anime style crazy and the gameplay is simple yet very fun.
This is the type of game that you can just sit back, relax and play the hell of.

It's notDon't let the white knight reviewers fool you into thinking Killer Is Dead is a bad game due to the sexualisation of women in it. It's not perfect, that's true. The combat isn't as deep as Devil May Cry or flashy as Bayonetta, but it's incredible over the top Suda51 fun. Fighting enemies is fast paced and enjoyable, and on higher difficulties, requires serious skill. I don't use the word often, but Killer is Dead is just awesome. The art style looks amazing, genuinely artistic. Colors are vibrant and flashy, and make Mondo Zappa and co. really come to life. The characters aren't necessarily fleshed out, but it feels like a Tarantino movie in the sense that they don't have to say a lot to know their life story.
As for Gigolo Missions, they're great too. Before everyone starts screaming MISOGYNIST, get off your high horse and enjoy Killer is Dead for what it is: a flashy, over the top game that's about fighting robots/monsters, and banging buxom babes.
Killer is Dead is my favorite Suda51 title yet, and I highly recommend it.

To condemn a game for such a minor feature that they deem to be sexist is laughable, at best. When people like these are reviewing games based off features that irk them instead of focusing more on gameplay, art direction, characters, and story, it really makes me fear for the gaming industry as a whole.
"B-but, the Gigolo mode is perverted and gross!"
To this, I ask, "Who cares?". It's an optional mode anyway, you don't even have to play it if it really irks you so much. Besides, I sincerely doubt that any of the (This comment is mostly aimed at the males) critics have any qualms with watching porn. Not one of them shudders at the thought, telling themselves "No, porn is perverted and gross!" Then why the would they apply this to Video Games?
Ignore the moronic reviews of critics. This is an excellent game, with enjoyable combat, a great soundtrack, and a fantastic art style.
