Aug 27, 2012Overall, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is about as deep as a King of Fighters game.
-
Oct 17, 2012JoJo's Bizarre Adventure isn't a bad fighting game, but it may be too weird for its own good. The 22 characters are hard to relate to and the action is often chaotic for no reason. Worse yet, the game is too expensive for the amount of content. If you can get over some of the imperfections you'll find a good looking fighting game with a lot of memorable characters!

Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)Oct 23, 2012JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a strange footnote in the history of classic fighters, making this HD release a niche game directed at fans of the anime series and nostalgic lovers of offbeat 2D fighting games. [Dec 2012, p.87]
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKOct 9, 2012When a game brands itself "bizarre", I expect something a little more off-the-wall than a 2D fighter. [Nov 2012, p.119]
-
Official PlayStation Magazine BeneluxOct 1, 2012Just around the turn of the century Jojo's Bizarre Adventure HD took the stage as an excellent 2D fighter based on the excellent manga by the same name. An HD upgrade may sound spectacular, but there are very few extras to be found here. [October 2012, p.79]
-
Sep 21, 2012At the end of the day, it's a fighting game in a crowded sea of them - and a niche one at that.
-
Sep 3, 2012Despite it being a game out of time, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure HD is still worth playing, provided you're the right type of player.
-
Sep 3, 2012A genuinely interesting fighting game that was released at a time when accessibility played second fiddle to mechanical depth and combos that demanded a high level of execution. The HD subtitle doesn't add up to a lot in this case, but that shouldn't detract from a 2D fighter that's as much lost treasure as it is bizarre curio.
-
Aug 30, 2012JoJo's Bizarre Adventure HD is exactly what it set out to be; a re-release of one of the most obscure fighting games of our time. The price is really ridiculous, and obviously set to take advantage of the rare group of players who really want the game.
-
Aug 29, 2012But it's disappointing to see this rerelease does not match the quality of content seen in Third Strike Online. Jotaro and the rest of the Stardust Crusaders have earned such attention, but what they got was the bare minimum.
-
Aug 29, 2012Capcom did it again. Such a great game and such a poor porting! JoJo's Bizarre Adventure HD simply isn't worth the money Capcom is asking for. The game is great, but the lack of the awesome Story Mode of the old PlayStation version is a shame.
-
Aug 27, 2012A welcomed release, although it comes in with a stout price tag and is not as robust as fans would hope. Still, fighter-fans should keep an eye on it as it is a nice addition to any collection.
-
Aug 24, 2012It's hurt by having a bare-bones online setup, not including the PS1 version's story mode, and not improving upon the blah soundtrack of the original game. There are a lot of downloadable fighters on the market now available for less money that are better than this. JJBA HD is a top-shelf bizarre game, but not exactly a top-shelf game in its own right.
-
Sep 11, 2012JoJo's Bizarre Adventure HD is a game that fans of Jotaro and Dio Brando can't miss. All the other gamers must be advised, this game needs lot of practice to be mastered and only with that experience it can be fun. Netcode have some problems too, wait a price drop before buying it.
-
Sep 14, 2012Suffering from the passing of time and from a poor porting, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure HD is a title difficult to recommend even to the manga's die-hard fans.
-
Sep 6, 2012It's strange, "bizarre" some would say, but this old fighting game from Capcom still has some life in it. Too bad its way too overpriced.
-
Sep 6, 2012JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a fairly enjoyable fighting game. It has some cool gameplay hooks that you don't see in many fighters, but the game does a very poor job of teaching you about any of this. Because of this and the game's $20 price tag, only those who really enjoy fighting games or JoJo's Bizarre Adventure should consider this release.
-
Aug 30, 2012There's not much that makes JoJo's Bizarre Adventure HD worth the money other than the core gameplay. If getting a chance to play JoJo's Bizarre Adventure again is worth $20 for you, then go for it. Otherwise, this isn't the game for you.
-
Sep 6, 2012At $20, there are way better fighting games with way more polish for less money, making JoJo's Bizarre Adventure HD an incredibly hard sell. Given the rough edges, it feels more as if Capcom is trying to play off of the hype from the upcoming new JoJo's game which is currently in development, rather than give a nod to a classic.
-
Aug 29, 2012For $19.99 there are just far better options available on the PlayStation Network. The lack of modes, special features, and other frustrating aspects of game really pulled the experience down a few notches for me.
-
Oct 1, 2012For a title that many cult followers have demanded others to acknowledge, the disregarding scrutiny on Capcom's part does more harm than good for the cause.
-
Sep 4, 2012Overall, for the asking price, I'd hesitate to say this is worth picking up unless you already know what you're getting into, and have a fondness for the original release. As a new experience, I don't think there's a whole lot here to appreciate without some type of nostalgia for the original release. With a bit more content, and a better online experience, maybe you would have had something here, but JoJo's Bizarre Adventure HD feels a bit like a lazy port outside of the decent HD re-skin.
-
Sep 4, 2012JoJo's Bizarre Adventure HD Ver. is tragic in a way, because while the game itself is still solid and fun to play, there's just too little on offer to justify the price tag.
-
Sep 5, 2012There are isolated moments of the funny and interesting, like one of the 26 fighters being a small dog (I think it's a chihuahua, but I'm not entirely sure). It makes me feel like a bad person, but kicking a possessed dog is mildly amusing… the first time. Then it becomes another cheap and frustrating match with the AI.

Jun 28, 2022I hate Capcom's fighting games just because they are boring, but this one at least doesn't feel like ****
