inFamous: Festival of Blood

A fright-filled ride worth sinking our fangs into. [Jan 2012, p.79]

Between the game's story mission, collectibles, secondary goals, and the pure fun of flying around town, there's a pretty decent amount of content here for a downloadable title. Overall I had a blast with InFamous: Festival of Blood, and hope that we see more PSN offerings like it in the near future.

While Festival of Blood is more of a bite-sized take on the Infamous experience, it's a great Halloween treat. If you're a fan you'd have to be batty not to pick it up.

A short, but entertaining stand-alone halloweenesque action-adventure for the electric superhero Cole. Kill the vampire queen before dawn. It's a bit too easy for inFamous-veterans, though. [Dec 2011]

inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood is like a streamlined, more horror-themed version of inFAMOUS 2, and it serves as a nice extension to the proper game and as a good starting point for those who never got around to actually playing it. It's definitely worth checking out if you have an interest in the series or the vampire-themed story and gameplay.

inFAMOUS 2: Festival of Blood is an enjoyable adventure that fans of the will thoroughly enjoy. It is a tongue and cheek side-tale in an already entertaining world. If you love inFAMOUs, you will love this chapter as well.

May be a little short in length at about 3-4 hours to complete the story and grab all collectibles and trophies, but the pacing and story feels just right.

It's rare to see a piece of DLC that's crafted with such care and attention to detail, and given that it's a standalone title, there's no reason why you shouldn't sink your teeth into it. [Christmas 2011, p.105]

Festival of Blood represents what a DLC should offer. It's a different experience, a bit like what Rockstar has done with Undead Nightmare.

inFamous: Festival of Blood is way too short. That truly is a shame because you don't want it to stop. It's fun, it's cool and there are no sparkling vampires. What more do you want?

Infamous 2 builds on the idea Dead Rising started and released a great downloadable game that was a toned down version of the main game but still has a lot of great content. Never before has it been so much fun to be a vampire and on top of that, a vampire with electric powers.

A satisfying, occasionally exceptional romp through half of New Marais. In a lot of ways it's the best aspects of inFamous 2 without the fuss of karma decisions, experience points or tedious side-quests.

inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood is a great addition to the series and a solid game for Cole fans or even someone looking for a taste of his power without taking the plunge into his previous adventures. Even with many of the features being recycled from the previous games in the series, Move support and user-generated content help keep the game fresh for the die hard fans.

As short as it is, InFamous: Festival of Blood is enormously fun while it lasts. The Shadow Swarm power is a ridiculously enjoyable addition, the Halloween plot is interesting (and spiked with a visually arresting shadow-puppet cutscene) and the new UGC features make it a must-have for mission-builders.

Whether you're curious about trying Infamous for the first time, you wanted more after finishing Infamous 2, or you're just looking for a quick experience in a well-constructed Halloween setting, Festival of Blood is worth a look.

It's quite simple really: badass vampires are awesome, inFamous is brilliant and a combination of both makes for a short but sweet adventure. Cole's "Demon of New Marais" tag has never suited him more and, for as short as it is, Festival of Blood is definitely worth sinking your teeth into.

An absolute blast to play. It retains the core gameplay of the series and streamlines the experience to a fast and action-packed jaunt into New Marais.

inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood is a great title for long-time fans and newcomers to the franchise. It's worth every minute and dollar you spend on it.

Thanks to the hit series True Blood and the Twilight-movies vampires are hotter than ever and the people from Sucker Punch have just delivered their own festival of blood. This is a nice extension to the main game, even if it only lasts for about four hours. [December 2011, p.100]

If anything, this seems to be a great way to see how inFamous 2 plays and feels by only spending 10 bucks rather than the full 60. It's a cheap entry point into some of infamous 2's core mechanics without committing to a full price open world.

Festival of Blood is neither awesome nor awful: it's just a sidestep from the inFamous formula that doesn't always work.

Even though it's fun to return to New Marais and battle vampires as the now extra powerful Cole McGrath, Festival of Blood feels to much like a last-minute afterthought to inFamous 2 to receive a higher score. Still, inFamous fans should not hesitate to buy this.

Vampires are still in, and they are seasonally appropriate. For a small investment you can see what a vampiric superhero would be, and it's a decent time. Don't expect it to last too long though, or to break any new ground.

At just under two hours of story here, it's kind of hard to recommend this to someone looking for an engaging narrative, even with some improved mechanics. However, if you've got 100 percent of everything in InFamous 2 and have the itch to collect more then Festival of Blood should be up your alley.

I was disappointed that the experience was so short, and that Sucker Punch decided to explore an avenue like this when there are so many other stories just begging to be told within the Infamous universe.

The game is very playable and is an absolute bucket-load of bloody fun. And who doesn't fancy joining the undead for a night, or sending a few of the blood-sucking freaks back to their graves for good?

Festival Of Blood has plenty of ideas, very few of which are its own, but such is the way of the open-world superhero game. Where it succeeds is in casting aside the main game's mechanics in favour of fast, graceful movement around one of the most generous worlds available on the download services.
