    Multiplayer modes are limited, though the dogfights and team battles for up to 16 players are still quite fun. It's satisfying taking down an enemy plane when you know there's a human cursing you out from his burning cockpit on the other end.

    If you love intense, hectic dogfights, you will not be disappointed by Heroes over Europe. The authenticity of the planes is rendered beautifully, but this is marked contrast with the appalling ground detail. Take the difficult controls into consideration, since they will not sit well with everyone.

    Heroes Over Europe is a nice air combat action game a la Ace Combat set mostly during the World War II, where you can control the Allies airplan across a variety of well known WWII battlefields in the skies over Europe.

    If you are a simulation fan, then Heroes Over Europe is definitely not for you. However, if just like to have fun with a decent action game, you will be happily surprised as the use of bullet time and the breathtaking challenges hundreds of meters in height will be almost worth the while.

    It's a fun arcade experience, and really easy to pick up and play, but the fact that the mundane objectives will start to bore you after a couple hours makes this one hard to suggest.

    If you're a PC gamer that is a bit intimidated by IL-2 Sturmovik and are sick of playing H.A.W.X., then Heroes Over Europe might be worth a look. If you're expecting it to completely fulfill your air combat needs though, you'll be disappointed.

    Where Il-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey brings something fresh to the table in a crowded genre of WWII-flying games, in no small thanks to its realism, Heroes over Europe doesn't. Adding the Ace Kill doesn't change anything about the blandness of this title. Heroes over Europe needs a change fast before people stop caring.

    Pro:
    - Graphics are nice, up close, they're quite pixelated, but you're supposed to be looking at them from a Kilometer up, so it's fine

    - Lotsa planes: 40 (Including variants of 1 plane. ex: Spitfire Mk1, Mk5, Mk9, Mk14)
    - Some interesting missions. (One involving a lone mosquito buzzing around Berlin on the Nazi Party's birthday)
    - Fun Missions in general.
    - Controls are easy to get used to. left stick for basic steering, right stick for speed and rolling.
    - "Ace kills" are fun and satisfying.

    Cons:
    - Not much of a story besides the "Main character" Tom Forester. Even with him, it's just a more detailed backstory than others.
    - Useless wingmen. I've seen my wingmen on the tail of a enemy flying straight and level and not firing. Also, they make no attempt to cover you as you make runs on enemy bombers. They might as well be flying slow, lazy doughnuts around the sky with neon signs saying: "Shoot me!" Also, they will fly into you if you're on the tail of an enemy.
    - Ace difficulty is such a far jump in difficulty from pilot, it's almost stupid hard. In Pilot, your health regens quite slowly, (you have a lot of it anyway. roughly 5x more than Ace), Enemies have a fair amount of health, and everything seems balanced for a nice happy time. Ace on the other hand...Your health does not regen, ever. (you especially feel this in longer "defend *location* against waves of bombers" missions) Normal enemy AI is ruthless. They will hound you constantly, and with your low health, will kill you if you give them half a chance. Friendly AI is still as useless as ever. Enemy health is stupid high, even with if you're using planes with lots of weaponry. Rams on bombers will kill you and they will keep flying.
    - "Invisible" Fighters: Enemy planes that are supposed to give the AI something to fight, (But as stated, they don't) and they don't have target markers over them, making them extremely hard to spot in a furball of Spitfires and Bf 109s, and they will still shoot at you, and will follow you throughout the entire level. They will be your bane on Ace difficulty. I only learned halfway through the game the pressing R2 in their general direction put a little red triangle over their plane
    - Limited HUD: No speedometer, No gun overheat bar, No altimeter. Nothing. All you get is your secondary weapon, crosshair, enemy target arrow, and name of enemy plane and distance to target.
    - Relatively short, only 14 missions, and Multiplayer was dead from the start. So replay value is lacking.
    - All the Bf 109s use the same model. So the G6 looks the same as the E. It's dumb. Why didn't they change it? They changed every other model in the game with other variants.

    TL:DR. It's a nice, fun arcade WW2 flight sim on normal difficulty, but on Hard, the mechanics of this game fail it. Best to buy as cheap as possible or a rental.    … Full Review »

    in this game you have about three things to keep in mind. 1: you're going to get distracted by how BEAUTIFUL everything is. 2:in this game you have about three things to keep in mind. 1: you're going to get distracted by how BEAUTIFUL everything is. 2: you're going to get pissed off because the game is HARD and you're going to see dudes flying in and out of your screen, like in real life, and you can't just press some magical button and make it all OK. and 3: the better you get, the better the game gets. all in all, it's a bad ass experience and i highly recommend it to anyone who is into flight sims and even people who have never touched one.… Full Review »
