Jan 18, 2011It doesn't excel in all areas and actually disappoints in others but it's still a lengthy, turn-based fantasy RPG that has it where it counts, especially where fans of the genre are concerned.
-
Feb 9, 2011For every good point there is a bad. It's definitely an opinion splitter, and some will absolutely love it and forgive its problems, whilst others will pick it to pieces in a matter of minutes. Personally I enjoyed the story and could live with its old school origins, add in the fact it's a rather lengthy affair for a downloadable title and you have something that is worth playing.
-
Jan 18, 2011The massive character customization also makes your faery or elf feel unique, so if you enjoy leveling up and finding loot, you should check out Faery: Legends of Avalon.

Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)Mar 17, 2011Not much else about Faery is deep or soulful, but for a modestly priced PSN download, it's a decently entertaining way to flitter away a dozen hours. [April 2011, p.75]

Feb 13, 2011Faery: Legends of Avalon isn't exactly a fairytale. The fact that you can make your own fairy is one of the few hightlights of this game. The campaign is simply too short and the audio and video are very mediocre.
-
Feb 2, 2011The music is pleasing, and the art style is impressive. But with a weak story, bland fetch quests comprising the majority of your campaign, and absolutely no voiceover work whatsoever, this game is hard to recommend to anyone but fans of this genre of games.
-
Dec 19, 2010Still, Faery is commendable for being among the first foray of the core RPG genre in the downloadable space dominated by twin-stick shooters and bite-sized platformers.
-
Dec 19, 2010The battles are rarely gripping and are so few and far between that you start getting bored waiting for something to actually happen.
-
Feb 9, 2011How utterly average-sounding can you get, huh? With a little sprucing up, perhaps some voice-acting and some real, game-changing decisions to make, Faery: Legends of Avalon could have been a hidden gem. Instead, it's the kind of RPG that developers try their best not to create.
-
Jan 25, 2011Far from being a void attempt at the genre in digital form, Faery is charming thanks to its freshness and classic world revisiting the forgotten tales and legends. But it will will quickly show its limits to the RPG fans, because of its not-so-deep gameplay. Despite its limitations, Faery remains an interesting proposition, if you have already consumed all the must-have games of the downloadable offerings out there.
