DJ Hero 2

DJ Hero 2 may not make major steps forward, but the additions, refinements and minor tweaks that FreeStyle Games have made really build on the solid foundations that the first game laid down to make DJ Hero 2 an even better experience then before and in my opinion, currently the best music game around.

With its numerous additions and improvements supported by an amazing list of remixes, DJ Hero 2 isn't only an automatic buy for those who loved the first one but also a definitive must have music title for all music genre fans.

DJ Hero 2 is at every part better than the previous one. The gameplay is still the same, but the music got more variety. One of the new features is that there are many more mix-techniques and the online section of the game is way better than before. A great music game.

DJ Hero was my favorite music game of 2009, and I'm happy to report this sequel bests its predecessor in nearly every way.

Along with FreeStyleGames critical examination of every bit of DJ Hero and their effort to improve everything, they have succeeded beyond measure and created a title that no music fan should pass up.

As always, the music and the mixes make or break this package. The reuse of tracks is nowhere near as abusive this time around and, honestly, if you can't appreciate the overwhelming majority of tunes here then you're probably squarer than Spongebob. Drop these morbidly obese beats into some new multiplayer modes (that are actually worth playing this time), or let them run forever in the GH5-inspired jukebox mode to create one hell of a party apparatus. Dj Hero 2 is in every way improved over last year, with a better balanced tracklist, new gameplay mechanics and a more than decent multiplayer. The career mode should be improved more tough, but the game is highly recommended for rhythm games fan.

In every way, DJ Hero 2 is an exceptional successor, and a great rhythm game for this year.

DJ Hero 2 improves upon its predecessor in every way.

DJ Hero 2 has what people want from a well made sequel, enhancing the better parts of the original, broadening what has to offers, and at the same time having its own personality while mantaining the essence of the previous game.

While the turntable may never be as ubiquitous as a guitar, DJ Hero 2 continues to push the boundaries of music gaming and improves upon the original with features that make the game more lifelike than before. Beyond that, the music is what will draw you in and keep you playing, even if you aren't familiar with turntables or DJ culture.

DJ Hero 2 is the perfect example of the "bigger, better and stronger" theory. Despite a more commercial twist in the track list, the presence of new gameplay elements, a better multiplayer experience and the awesome party mode, all grant this game great value.

DJ Hero 2's multiplayer modes might not strike as anything special, although it is a social and accessible game, but the robust content is tailored to be the most hypnotic single-player rhythm game on the market.

DJ Hero 2 acts like Activision have listened to feedback from the first game and the good points read like a checklist of improvements. Better music? Check. More single player modes? Check. More freedom to influence the audio? Check.

DJ Hero 2 really is a party in a box, and one of the best the music/rythym genre has to offer.

DJ Hero was always worth a spin in the right crowd but, with so many new ways to get everyone involved, it's no longer just a living room curio - it's a genuine, bona fide dance floor-filler.

Small issues aside, DJ Hero 2 is a solid music gaming experience from top to bottom, even more enjoyable than the current iterations of Activision's other cash cow, Guitar Hero.

DJ Hero 2 is a significant improvement on last year's original title.

Unlike a lot of music games, DJ Hero 2 is more than just an extended track pack with a few tweaks; it's a totally new and improved game.

It's certainly not a drastic update, but it's good value for money nevertheless. [Issue#198, p.92]

So for all those wondering if you should upgrade, by all means 'DJ Hero 2' still has the beat. If you love the rhythm based genre and haven't tried out DJ Hero yet, shame on you, DJ Hero puts it together with substance and flash. I can't tell you how much fun this game is. Its something that needs to be tried to understand.

It nails down its position as a multiplayer-oriented (and thus, party-oriented) game and succeeds beautifully. Still, there's a part of me that resents the lacking single-player campaign, and the learning curve may prove frustrating (or maybe it's just me).

Even when considering the aforementioned caveats, DJ Hero 2 is a very good game, and it is surely a nice step up from the original title.

The people at Freestyle Games definetly gave a new spin to the DJ Hero gameplay. The Freestyle sections are very cool and the new option to sing or rap is great if you don't want to spin the records. A guaranteed party hit!

If you're into console music gaming, DJ Hero 2 is definitely your game. Beginners will appreciate the great tutorials and the good playability.

DJ Hero 2 is a unique rhythm game that won't disappoint with music fans, and certainly makes you look like you know how to be a DJ.

It is a great example of what this genre can offer.

This is still the best soundtrack of any music game, though, and the mash-ups remain impressive as hell.

DJ Hero 2 adds a thick coat of polish to an already brilliant original, and as a result is the best music game on the market for those looking for something a little unique.

DJ Hero 2's gameplay procedures are as good as it were in its first iteration, and there are some brilliant add-ons in the core mechanics too that make this another great game.

Dj Hero 2 has an impressive tracklist, some interesting game moders, and a redefined gameplay that stresses the player's creativity. Too bad the "career mode" is still quite boring.

Catchy mixes, impressive visuals, and a much improved career mode make DJ Hero 2 worth checking out.

A great sequel. It takes the best stuff from the first game and improves it exactly where it was needed.

DJ Hero 2 picked up a formula which had an instant success, not risking too much, but it gives us a fantastic setlist, very varied, and the introduction of Freestyling, where we introduce our finger of creation, with faders and Scratch that leaves us screaming for more.

DJ Hero 2 is an excellent music-game thanks to the solid gameplay and fantastic music in the game. Who doesn't want to scratch on hits from Justice, Dr. Dre and Salt N Pepa? Before you know it, you'll be behind the turntables like a professional DJ again.

The dancey track selection gives the game a more up-tempo feel.

The immense quality of the track selection in DJ Hero 2 gets you by with a pretty solid score this year, FreeStyle and Activision, but that isn't going to last forever.

Djing feels still good, even without a deep single player mode and some flaws in the navigation between the menus. More content and some dedicates game modes should do the trick for the next iteration.

Overall, DJ Hero 2 just feels tight. Everything from the menus to the gameplay has a clean, streamlined look and feel to it. The gameplay additions--with the exception of the weak vocals--are intelligent and really make the game more playable than it was last year. While other rhythm game franchises feel like they're fizzling out, DJ Hero still feels like it's just getting started.

Not as good tracklist as the previous game, but still a hell of a lot of scratching fun.

DJ Hero 2 is fundamentally more fun than its predecessor, but the single-minded track list leaves something to be desired.
