Driving in Cars 2 feels fantastic, and the somewhat original mechanics offer an experience you'll not find elsewhere. It's definitely more engaging in multiplayer however, and I'd recommend you play it with at least one other person.

The shooty racing is good, clean fun. [Sept 2011, p.112]

A decent enough racing game that should please the younger gamers.

The course design is perhaps a little bit too traditional and reserved given the somewhat over the top racing and weaponry, but it's all nicely rooted in the Cars universe so Pixar fans will lap up the fan service.

Cars 2 shows us that a game based on a movie isn't always bad. Both young and old will be entertained with all of the different modes and cars. But we just can't wrap our head around the fact that there isn't an online multiplayer available.

If you want a genuinely ambitious video game based on a movie license, check out Toy Story 3. If, however, you or a family member really loves Lightning McQueen and the movie's cast of characters, this simple but fun arcade racer won't disappoint.

Another victim of the "Ancient Tie-in Curse"? Not this time. Despite the lack of online multiplayer, Cars 2 is a satisfying arcade racing game with a lot of fuel down the engine.

A game that is enjoyable for the whole family, from the smallest to largest. A tie-in that captures perfectly the style of Cars universe. The only flaw is the lack of online, which could affect the longevity.

Based on the new Pixar film, it's an accessible racer with a distinct Crash Team Racing aftertaste. [Aug 2011, p.83]

This is sort of a mixed bag. Younger players will find lots to do here while more experienced players might find the career to be a bit tedious later on.

Sluggish but sweet. The perfect choice for some parent/child split screen bonding. [Oct 2011, p.85]

Don't let the license fool you: this is actually an enjoyable racing game that will appeal to all. [Issue#208, p.92]

Avalanche did a commendable job capturing the feel of the animated film, while piling in enough game modes to make Cars 2 feel like a "real game" and not a throwaway licensed money grab.

Cars 2: The Video Game is all about racing on circuits and to win by irritating other players with different weapons and more. It is fun for the younger gamers, but the difficulty can be really easy and hard at the same time. There isn't a real balance and the speed of some cars are pretty low.

Cars 2 is no Mario Kart-killer, but it's an okay game for us who don't have the Wii and Marios cart-racer. The game is challenging, has a good turbo-system and is great fun when played with a couple of friends.

Cars 2: The Video Game is superisingly my favorite video game ever. Battle Race Mode is so fun to play in & hunter mode is challengingly good.

+ lot's of colorful locations from the movie.
    +lot's of playable characters
+decent handling for a kids game
+Fun trophy list with a way to track your progression. (remember this is a ps3 title, while tracking your trophies is now a selling point for the new ps5) -rubberbanding, just shouldn't exist in a racing game at all. -some modes just aren't polished enough or are just boring. This being a kids game is no excuse to just half a** it. -This being a pretty old ps3 title means of course that the graphics haven't aged to well.
