Oct 8, 2017Atrocious game. I would rather spend 48 hours listening to Justin Bieber’s “Baby” on a loop than spending a single minute playing this dull and boring game. They should’ve made a Def Jam Fight for NY remaster for the PS3 rather than making whatever tf this game is... Now we’re talking about remasters; I’m still sitting here waiting for the Def Jam Fight for NY remaster for the PS4!

MickP.Jun 15, 2007bought this game 2 days ago already broke a control pad in frustration. The controls are a nightmare seeing as i played it 4-5 hours straight and still the right stick wouldnt do what i wanted it to. Apart from that the grathics are ok and the storyline is brilliant.

SkylerF.May 7, 2007Although a rocky start, once you get the game going it can be very fun. The create a character is very realistic and the story to the game is new, even though multiplayer is now only two player.

Aug 26, 2022O What the developers had in mind when they invented producing this crap

Aug 8, 2023This was made during the period where EA hit the 52 Fake Out on audiences long waiting on new entries to their beloved "BIG" series of games, & rolled out a couple of severely half-baked games. NBA Street & the Def Jam fighting series were huge winners on the previous generation. These games, especially this one, were massive disappointments. Lazy cash-in efforts.

Game InformerAfter a while, the recycled environments and repetitive battles start to feel like a chore rather than a reward. [Mar 2007, p.96]

Play MagazineThere's no way to imagine these fights as anything but someone's absurd rap fantasy that was somehow shoehorned onto a fighting game. [Mar 2007, p.53]

Too bad the slow-as-molasses combat (and too-savvy computer-controlled opponents) keep this fighter from rivaling classics like "Tekken," "Street Fighter" and "Soul Calibur," but the innovative use of music, as both an aesthetic and a weapon, adds depth.
