Feb 22, 2011There's quite a bit of platforming. All together, the levels could take over fifteen hours, which is about normal for a game of its type. More importantly, the experience is top notch all the way.
-
Mar 21, 2011It can honestly be said that de Blob 2 will be fun game for any age gamer. Whether you want some colorful platformming or just want a fun game to veg-out to after work - de Blob 2 will fit the bill!
-
Mar 3, 2011Unique platformer de Blob 2 delivers a fusion of colour and sound that awakens the senses and lifts your spirits.
-
Feb 26, 2011de Blob 2 has a unique look and its addictive gameplay makes it a title well worth checking out regardless of your demographic.
-
Feb 27, 2011De Blob 2 is not just a better game than its predecessor, it's also a very competent platform game with many appealing elements for both the young and the experienced audience.
-
Apr 18, 2011This is definitely more of a refinement than a reinvention, but everything we loved about the original game is here in spades. If you're willing to look past its occasionally-repetitious gameplay and excessive hand-holding, you'll find de Blob 2 to be one of the wittiest, most intelligent and innovative platformers around. What's more, if you've yet to experience the joys of the timeless original, then you absolutely owe it to yourself to pick up de Blob 2. This comes highly recommended.
-
Mar 8, 2011Improving on the original in many ways, De Blob 2 is a funny and colourful platform experience.
-
Apr 6, 2011I was surprised by how much fun I had with De Blob 2, considering I had never played the first. It's catchy, easy to pick up, and pleasing enough to the eyes and ears to continue playing for hours at a time. It's not without flaws, however, including some niggling camera complaints and the checkpoint system that gets worse the further you play. Still, while these do affect the end result, it's hard not to recommend the game to someone who enjoys a light, color-filled platformer to spend time on.
-
Mar 27, 2011It's de Blob as you might expect, but it's the best damn Blob money can buy, and an exceptional game in its own right.
-
Mar 9, 2011Although the basic idea has remained, the sequel introduces several new things.
-
Mar 7, 2011A success in its simply-stated goals, and worthy of a play for anybody looking to zone out and relax for a while.
-
Mar 7, 2011In the end, de Blob 2 is a laid back arcade game that offers good gaming for both younger and older players.
-
Mar 4, 2011My hope after playing through de Blob 2 is that it's not overlooked like its predecessor. Although not a perfect platformer, de Blob 2 is a game that reminded me of experiences I had when I was first just getting into video games over twenty years ago. For anyone who may have missed the original or even for those that didn't this is a game that is at the very least worth a rental.
-
Mar 3, 2011De Blob 2 can feel a bit simplistic at times, but it's still an incredibly rewarding and fun game with a great style. I just wish it were a little more complicated.
-
Feb 28, 2011There is no doubt in my mind that this is an exceptional title, one nearly any gamer can have some fun with. The problem is that it just isn't all that memorable.
-
Feb 26, 2011This sequel isn't the leap forward the concept deserves, but it's a testament to the original that it remains a standout personality over two years on, at a point when quality platform games have become thin on the ground. [Mar 2011, p.99]
-
Feb 25, 2011Although it doesn't shine for complexity, De Blob 2 proves to be an excellent game that will surely appeal to both core and casual gamers.
-
Feb 22, 2011Fun, innovative, and surprisingly deep, de Blob 2 is bright spot in a sea of gray games and iterative sequels.
-
Feb 18, 2011That's de Blob 2. It's just a charming and fairly straightforward platformer that wears its all-ages appeal on its kaleidoscopic sleeve. Everything is bubbly and bright and freewheeling – and the gameplay is largely very good.
-
Mar 4, 2011de Blob 2 is a fun game with a great style. A game that will surely appeal to both core and casual gamers.
-
Mar 1, 2011Entertaining, beautiful and charming, de Blob 2 may become too easy for some players, but it is also a relaxing game with colorful environments, a feature which is scarce nowadays. Its main problem is the repetitiveness of elements and gameplay, which can be felt after some hours of play.
-
PSM3 Magazine UKApr 10, 2011Its simplicity is the key. [May 2011, p.92]
-
Mar 14, 2011Overall, de Blob 2 is worth checking out, but it wasn't as great as it should have been. If you missed the original title for any reason, de Blob 2 is a very unique platformer with some great design sense.
-
Mar 8, 2011There is one huge disadvantage to de Blob 2, the game gets really dull, really fast. That being said, de Blob is an amusing game that can make you happy within a second.
-
Mar 1, 2011The real star of the presentation, though, is the sound design.
-
Mar 1, 2011The upbeat atmosphere, colorful levels and absolutely hilarious cut scenes make this game well worth playing even if the inflexible save system requires some planning to work around. Even with this limitation, seeing the cities transform from bleak cityscapes to colorful bastions of good cheer and frivolity is like nothing else in gaming today and should be appreciated as such.
-
Feb 25, 2011It makes an excellent addition to households with a wide age-group of gamers, but is entertaining enough that younger siblings aren't needed to justify owning a copy.
-
Apr 18, 2011A relaxing adventure game that's a bit too much like De blob. The camera, repetition, time limit and save system are the major flaws.
-
Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)Mar 17, 2011Exuberantly colorful and open landscapes blend with platforming puzzles to form a union worth getting excited over. [April 2011, p.75]
-
Mar 16, 2011The platforming is solid, even if other parts of the game lacking, and it accomplishes everything that it sets out to do.
-
Mar 9, 2011Let it be known that de Blob 2 is by no means a bad game, just one with enough detrimental flaws to hold it back from greatness.
-
Mar 4, 2011The concept of bringing joy into a lifeless world not only shows in the gameworld, but in the real world as well, as you smile along with De Blob 2 and its colourizing antics.
-
Mar 4, 2011de Blob 2 is by all means an enjoyable game, one that will keep younger gamers happy and probably their parents too. But that constant repetition will quickly - and surely - wear the fun off.
-
Mar 3, 2011At times, everything that is great about video games. Rewarding gameplay, smart visuals and a decent attempt at innovation combine to create a game that can be great fun. However, the modest challenge and increasingly repetitive gameplay conspire to highlight other flaws, meaning most players will soon tire of the saccharine charm of de Blob and his surprisingly adult revolution before the monochrome regime can be toppled.
-
Mar 1, 2011Overall de Blob 2 is a real mixed bag. There is definitely a fun, solid game there but it is held back by a number of frustrating issues. Charming, but ultimately flawed.
-
Mar 1, 2011It actually pains us to be so negative about De Blob 2, as there is plenty here to love or even adore. The visuals are sumptuous; the characterisation of Blob, his friends and the gloriously dastardly Inkies is nothing short of sublime. It is also consistently diverting, the problem being that it only rarely feels essential.
-
Feb 28, 2011One annoying time limit feature less, and this would have gotten an even better grade. Apart from that, prepare for some paint-fueled fun.
-
Feb 23, 2011De Blob 2 has an infectious feel-good vibe, but some frustrations cramp this platformer's funky style.
-
Feb 22, 2011De Blob 2, like its predecessor, is an undeniably cheerful, whimsical, and infectiously amusing venture that's impossible to dislike unless you're Ebenezer Scrooge (pre-spiritual epiphany, that is). It has some creative gameplay and it satisfies that primitive need to finish a page in a coloring book once you've started it. It's not as deep as it wants to be, but it has enough substance to pick up and play after buying it for your kids (or younger siblings).
-
Feb 22, 2011While the game insists on holding your hand a little too tightly and the time limits can cause a lot of unnecessary stress, de Blob 2 remains a solid platform game with an interesting mechanic at its core.
-
Mar 16, 2011You play with a blob in de Blob 2 and you have to paint everything in the levels with different colors to defeat the evil guy that has transformed everything in a sad gray and ugly world. The gameplay is pretty good, but the camera isn't which also count for the useless co-op feature of the game.
-

-
Mar 8, 2011Sadly, its targeting and save point distribution make it tough to recommend for all gamers. If you're a highly skilled player that loves a challenge then you might be able to look past the game's artificial difficulty.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKMar 24, 2011There are some new bells and whistles. [Apr 2011, p.114]

games(TM)Mar 23, 2011For true "chillax"-based experiences, however, there are far less pressured examples available. [Issue#107, p.118]
-
Mar 8, 2011With so many different gaming mechanics, pretty 2D platforming levels and humorous cut scenes de Blob 2 could have been a roaring success. But the end product has far too long and badly designed levels that just feel repetitive. During shorter gaming sessions it still manages to deliver a fun experience, but overall we're a little disappointed.
-
Mar 3, 2011De Blob 2 is a platform adventure game in which you paint grim looking locations in all sorts of funky looking colours. Its luscious details and graceful design make it pure eye candy. That makes it all the more painful when you discover the monotonous nature of De Blob 2. The artificial difficulty in the form of a clock increases this painful sensation even more.
-
Mar 1, 2011Quotation forthcoming.
-
Feb 23, 2011Most troublesome of all is the timed aspect of the levels -- they suck all the fun out of fooling around with paint. I wasn't a fan of the timed segments in the first game, either, but at least those were optional segments and not required gameplay to advance the story.
-
Feb 23, 2011Gameplay concepts this imaginative deserve more thorough exploration than the handful of basic, regurgitated puzzles that populate de Blob 2. Instead, we're stuck with a mediocre platformer that's too easy for adults and too repetitive for most anyone, kids in particular.
