    There's nothing quite like Champion Jockey on PS3, and Tecmo Koei is to be commended for an in-depth portrayal of the horse racing world: what could have been a cheap throwaway is instead a surprisingly lengthy pursuit. The Move controls are enjoyable without being essential and the career mode would have seemed out-dated five years ago, but if you want something original and don't mind a gamble you could find yourself backing a winner.

    If you're a fan of horse racing or interested in getting into the sport, Champion Jockey is without doubt a must-have; it's technical, it's in-depth and you're guaranteed hours upon hours of replay value. However, if you happen to be a gamer looking for a quick burst of casual fun, Champion Jockey's myriad of intricacies and learning curve may be enough to hinder your enjoyment.

    This is a very solid game and a good successor to previous titles in the series. It is quite difficult, especially at the "pro" level, andThis is a very solid game and a good successor to previous titles in the series. It is quite difficult, especially at the "pro" level, and after a few hours playing I'm still getting the hang of timing on the critical stretch drive. But when you win a race it's a pretty awesome feeling. On the other hand, get too aggressive and you WILL fall off the horse and be injured for a week or two. Or you might commit obstruction and be suspended for interfering with other horses. Riding a winning race is tricky and much more difficult than previous versions where there was pretty much a set pattern to follow for different kinds of horses. The "story" mode has a lot of cheesy dialogue with other characters, but you can click through all that quickly enough if you don't like reading the banter amongst video game jockey characters, journalists, trainers, etc. Overall it's a deep game, and it's quite difficult, but a lot of fun while the race is going on--if you can avoid colliding and falling off your mount!… Expand
