This is the Call Of Duty experience in High Definition. You also experience the cinematic intensity through 24 epic missions.

Call of Duty Classic is what you expect from a HD remake, same game as the original with a better resolution. But other than that I'd say it's worth buying and here is why. The campaign is challenging and fun. It's also very long with up to 24 missions. The multiplayer is fun as well. While is doesn't do anything different from other WWII shooters, it's still very enjoyable. This game is indeed a classic since it started the Call of Duty series! The game play is pretty solid and the campaign is lengthy enough that it was an entertaining experience. Call of Duty in its simplest form , To be honest I didn't enjoy it I'll probably is that because it is the first just doesn't really feel that fun to shoot anything, I can respected it for being the first but I cannot say I was entertained

First of all, I must say this is the only Call of Duty I have ever played, so I cannot compare with the others. I have played many first-person shooters from many different generations, though.

Overall, I did not enjoy the game. I actually had to make an effort to finish it. I guess all the Call of Duty games are this difficult, but this difficult is just insanely hard even on Regular. And it is not that it is just hard, but that I think it is badly calculated.

I just did not enjoy it. Guess dying just because of one or two shots is very realistic, but that mechanics does not work properly on a game, in my opinion; I hate realistic games and simulators, with the exception of FIFA (for I love football). I will keep on playing a lot of first-person shooters, but definitely not Call of Duty.

the game has 26 missions, some are really short whilst some are really long. i had a hard time staying alive even on regular mode, and i have played every single call of duty console campaign exept for finest hour wich i am going to finish someday. some times you need to hold out in an small house to wait for backup, a good example of this is Pavlov's house, where they expect you to takethe game has 26 missions, some are really short whilst some are really long. i had a hard time staying alive even on regular mode, and i have played every single call of duty console campaign exept for finest hour wich i am going to finish someday. some times you need to hold out in an small house to wait for backup, a good example of this is Pavlov's house, where they expect you to take out 6 tanks wilst also having to kill enemy's that get into the house. also your teammates are really dumb and sometimes get in the way, like when i had to take out attacking plane's the game also lets enemies from the roof next to you shoot on you an you almost don't have enough time to take them both out since your teammate infront of you does almost nothing to defend you. some of the nice things are that you can have 3 guns and 1 grenade wich is nice however you can never swap out your pistol for a diffrent weapon. charecters like captain price and even an russian sargiant called makarov are introduced in this game wich is nice since these names are later used in the modern warfare series. the ending is nice it's almost like the ending from world at war but a bid easier. you have 3 diffrent campaigns, the american, the british and the russian. and after the russian campagin is complete there are still 3 ending missions for each one. i coudnt play the multiplayer since no one was online every time i searched for a match so i don't know how good it was on ps3. also sometimes the game got really laggy for a few seconds and this sometimes also happend with the audio. overal it is hard wich made me wanne stop sometime ,but it was a nice first game to start the series of with. If this game came out in 2003, I would have given it a 9/10 for it's Groundbreaking graphics at the time, very solid FPS gameplay from start to finish, one of the longer Call of Duty game in the franchise.

However, this was a let down and some features and its graphics features were REMOVED and somehow worse than the PC version. PROs; 1.) Included Trophy System for the game. 2.)

    PROs;
1.) Included Trophy System for the game.
2.) Still the same experience as the PC version.

    CONs:
1.) The LACK of MANUAL SAVING makes up being the most hardest Call of Duty game to complete on Veteran, which makes the hardest version to play with. Nothing to do with the fact that it's on the PS3.

2.) Due to the LACK OF MANUAL SAVE FEATURE, they had to include but a GLITCHY CHECKPOINT SYSTEM. Which makes it extremely frustrating that you have to do the part where it is hard to get past a certain section of the level over and over again for Veteran Difficulty playthrough. Many players speculated that having more than 33% of your health will activate the checkpoint. Even though I manage to get past a longer section of that level with full health, It still manage to mess it up where it should give the checkpoint. Sometimes it triggers, sometimes it doesn't. Even so, some level needs you to go far deep into a specific level in order to trigger a certain checkpoint. Which makes some level 95% impossible to get through.

3.) Missing GUN LIGHTING EFFECT for a console which it was powerful than PC's in early 2003 in terms of graphical power. I always tend to tweak the game's graphic option a lot when it comes to PC games. Noticeably a missing muzzle flash lighting was gone while firing a gun.

4.) UNCALIBRATED AIMING CONTROL. Adjusting the Aiming Sensitivity is almost useless at times IF the games has bit higher sensitivity on left and right than looking Up and Down, which makes almost unbearable to aim quicker.

What prevents this review from going lower than a 7 is that the game itself is actually a classic and I am happy to be able to play it finally on console. The port as well is okay enough, with not too many drops in frame rate and no crashes. Unfortunately, my praises end there; as some of the most fundamental mechanics are missing or broken.

The port as well is okay enough, with not too many drops in frame rate and no crashes. Unfortunately, my praises end there; as some of the most fundamental mechanics are missing or broken.
Firstly, there is no button remapping of any sort which requires R2 to be the shoot button. This is unlike any other game in the series on PS3, or even FPSs in general for that matter.
The other issue that makes itself clear when playing in veteran mode is the the terrible checkpoint system. Gone from the PC original is a save at any point mechanic, swapped instead for set checkpoints. Which would be perfectly fine, if they worked. Unfortunately, certain triggers are required and they're up to you to figure out. Some say they require a certain amount of health, other suggest you do a dance in place, "2 steps forward 3 to the left". Whatever the truth may be, they are entirely unreliable, with a dozens of occurrences in my play through. But ok, say you got lucky and it did trigger, from there it is not certain if it will notify you of it with a "saving game..". These two bugs led to one instance of making it almost entirely through a level only to be sent back to the beginning.
Finally, I find it amusing that PS3M Magazine, in their review said, "some inventive Trophies". I can only assume they were referring to playstation.. trophies? Which is mind boggling as there is one for each mission, as well as for each difficulty. Again, unlike all others in the series, the difficulty specific trophies do not stack and I refuse to believe that was intentional.
I should mention that the multiplayer, while novel, has long been dead. Although this hardly matters as anyone getting this game is buying it for the stellar campaign. And really, the campaign on this port plays without a hitch on most difficulties, which stops me from being too harsh. Unfortunately, having not played the PC original, I cannot comment on the difference in audio. However, being an award winner in Sound Design, I'm inclined to believe that it has been toned down for the platform. But this another minor complaint.
It is truly unfortunate that such minor stability issues and lack of basic button mapping prevent this port from capturing all the magic of the original game. It is still incredibly fun on PlayStation, despite these issues.

Call of Duty is still an enjoyable game, but it doesn't really shine in this downloadable version.
  2. Go back 5 years and you'll realize why the Call of Duty franchise is so incredibly popular. The first Call of Dity game became an instant classic with its epic story telling and intense gameplay. Now it's back, with polished HD graphics and the same amazing multiplayer. A must-have in your collection if you, for some reason, missed the mother of all CoD games.

Although the graphics are outdated, it is still a game to enjoy. People who play the CoD-games a lot, but never played the first part on the PC, now have the chance to play this first Call of Duty game.
