  1. Mediocre multiplayer aside, Burn Zombie Burn is still a very fun to play and has an impressive amount of complexity for what it is. The zombies are charming, funny caricatures with outlandish behavior which are sure to bring a smile.
  2. Although simplistic on the surface, Burn Zombie Burn does have hidden depth that’ll keep players engaged.
  3. Burn Zombie Burn is one of the best zombie games ever done in terms of fidelity with this genre. But as a game it has a fair amount of problems that show little ambition in making a better game.

Pandering to the shmup and zombie crowds, there is enough genuinely good game to win a following. Beyond torching the undead, however, there isn't anything truly remarkable in the title. Despite the varying modes and simulated goals, the underlying objectives don't change, which manages to make zombie fires downright pedestrian.
  5. It's short on variety, but an innovative risk-vs.-reward scoring system makes Burn Zombie Burn an intriguing entry in the top-down shooter genre.

Overall this is a great value game, which will last longer than most other arcade games you buy either from the PlayStation Store, or Live Marketplace. There is something frustratingly addictive about the game, meaning you want to come back for more and beat that high score you’ve just posted.

The trouble is, this gets old very fast. [Jan 2009, p.104]

Burn, Zombie, Burn’s serving of arcade chaos is instantly gratifying, if a tad trivial, and its nods to deadsploitation flicks should tickle those not yet tiring of Crypt Keeper chic. [Feb 2009, p.97]
  9. If you’re a zombie freak and really like the sub-genre then this might be worth an investment, but for the rest of us there’s not really a great deal here that will pull us away from Super Stardust HD, Flower or PixelJunk.
  10. With three modes and six levels each, ten challenges, a local multiplayer option, and tons of unlockables, there is plenty to do in this ten dollar package if you can get past the frustrations and don't mind a challenge.

I'm still trying to figure out how to further maximize scoring capability, as my scores and medals would suggest there's still much room for improvement. The points and earnings will keep you playing for more. It's a particular blast in two player mode, only because it's fun to share the action - the game itself doesn't get a major gameplay shift from multiplayer mode. It's a blast and a welcome bargain. Bang-per-buck alone was worth an extra point. Full Review »
