My favorite Bioshock game, this title is something else. Booker's story is quite compelling and the gameplay is as good as ever.

Final entry of the bioshock saga with the best story so far, the gunplay and the vigors are also pretty good in this game but not as good as in the other bioshocks. Elizabeth is also an amazing character and the Lutece are funny as hell. And the burial at sea dlcs are very good dlcs.

Me imagino a los creadores de Bioshock en una reunión pensando qué hacer ahora que habían reventado la industria del videojuego con un juego bajo el mar, que llegase el becario y dijera "y si lo hacemos ahora en el aire?"

This is a masterpiece on its own. Even if you don't have the background knowledge of the Bioshock world you can still easily get immersed in this story and be shocked at the end. The combat is also fun and challenging if you are going for a higher difficulty. Definitely worth a try for anyone new to the series.

Terzo episodio della serie, migliora addirittura l'ottimo primo capitolo.
Trama intensa e ricca di colpi di scena, personaggi carismatici e tridimensionali.
Gameplay che riprende quello dei primi due episodi, ampliandolo.
Grafica, ambientazioni e comparto audio evocativi.
Uno dei migliori FPS in commercio.

    Warning: Spoilers
Bring us the girl, wipe away the debt is what Booker Dewitt (Troy Baker) has to do in the newest BioShock game. Set in 1912 during the growth of American exceptionalism, former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, is sent to the floating air-city of Columbia to find that young woman known as Elizabeth (Courtnee Draper), who has been held incarcerated there for most of her life in a life style bird cage, protected by a mysterious creature known as Songbird. Though Booker rescues Elizabeth, the two are pursued by the city's warring factions: the nativist and elite Founders leaded by Prophet Zackary Comstock (Kiff VandenHeuvel) that strive to keep the city for pure Americans from their view as un-American, and the Vox Populi, a rebel group lead by Daisy Fitzroy (Kimberly Brooks) representing the minorities. Booker finds Elizabeth to be central to this conflict, and learns that she possesses extraordinary powers to manipulate rifts in the space-time continuum that wreak havoc on Columbia. The City in the Sky leave the depths of Rapture to soar among the clouds. The flying city is a beautiful and vibrant world that holds a very dark secret. It is found by the beliefs of Christianity and the worship of the Founding Fathers as religious figures, while also a police state that enforced racist and sexist attitudes on its citizens. Yes, the game has some racism, but its story is based on 1912 where racism was in its prime. This game isn't for the young gamer, but for mature audience anyways. It' a new world, way different to the damp, dark and Claustrophobia area. While the game doesn't offer free range gaming, and often limited. It's in rich with beautiful colors, details, and Easter eggs. Example: The Barbershop version of "God Only Knows". I miss Barbershop quartets. I love the steam punk, and Harry Turtledove feel to the game. To understand more about the story, I think it's very important for the player is able to locate audio logs, Voxophones and film projectors Kinetoscopes so that they will expand on the history of Columbia beyond those events occurring within the game. The player controls Booker throughout the game, eventually working with the AI-controlled Elizabeth. Having Elizabeth around, doesn't feel like an escort mission, you don't have to protect her, and she is very helpful as she gathers up money, vigors, and ammos for you. She also can unlocked doors and use her power to help fight hostile forces. Elizabeth felt like a Disney like character and works against Booker's grim appearance. Like previous BioShock games, the player uses a combination of weapons, gears, and psychokinetic powers granted through vigors. You can played on normal (easy, normal, and hard). All of them are a great challenge, but never to too frustrating. Enemies such as Handy Men, Patriots, and Sirens will make this game interesting. If not, there is the sky-line. A roller coaster, type ride for the player. There is also a 1999 mode will make you a pro and change the dynamics of the game. The faults of the game are that there are no altering endings like the previous Bio Shock's games. At the end of the game you realize why your choices don't matter, this was done purposely. This is why everyone should accept why there aren't any alternate endings. Still, it would be awesome to have a choice. If there's one thing we learned from this game is that in life you may have a limited amount of choice, but the potential outcomes are infinite. The game is less open and mazy. I wished this Songbird was also a boss instead of just a cut scene. The two weapon limit. The battles like the last battle needed better design. I couldn't really get a chance to buy all the upgrades I want and there is not a New Game+. The Vigors could've used more buff. Last, there weren't any puzzles or problem solving areas like the other Bio Shock's games. Still, the game is amazing and kick-ass but I don't see a sequel for it. Not because it's bad, no way is BioShock Infinite a bad game. So far it's one of the best games I've played in 2013. But unlike the last two BioShock games which even when you escaped from Rapture the city is still down there, and there's possible sequels for it. But the ending for Infinite, mind blowing ending by the way and the way it's told doesn't feel like it's setting up for a sequel if you know what I mean. Absolutely fantastic game! It's already become one of my all-time favorite games. It's a fun gameplay and having pleasing visuals. So give it a try. Game on, my fellow gamers.

Bioshock Infinite is an amazing game, the type of game we can't forget. These days, with so many games released, we find a lot of games who suffer from being too generic. Here, with Bioshock Infinite, it's not the case at all ! I played this game twice and I just finished this morning one of the DLC (Burial at sea episode 1 ) which I also recommend.

For me, this game is almost a 9/10. I think the best section is the first chapters when we enter Columbia. Ken Levine is so good to create worlds and universes. Columbia and Rapture are wonderful and unique ! Also, I must add that Elisabeth is one of the best side characters I ever saw in a video game !

Bioshock Infinite is quite different than the first two entries (Bioshock 1 and Bioshock 2). It is more linear and they implemented new systems (tears, aerotram, etc...).

Why I didn't give this game 9 or 10/10 ? I think it's because of the mechanics and the bad difficulty spike for the last battle. I think they should encouraged more the use of the different types of vigors and even create puzzles around that (they missed a huge opportunity here...). At least, in Bioshock 1, there were some small environmental puzzles for the plasmids like melting the ice for exemple.

However, this is a great game that is still enjoyable in 2022 :)

The combat is fun in the early levels, but devolves into unfair, one-shot kills from enemies that are impossible to see in the gorgeous vistas. The levels were not really designed with cover in mind, and the enemies dont care about your attempts to hide either. But if you mae even one step out into the open, you are murdered instantly.

The worst part about this is that there is basically no consequence of death. Enemies you killed stay dead after you rez, and you lose some money. As long as you keep buying updates and dont hoard money, the punishment is neglible.

Man, this game is a work of art. I just wish the combat left me feeling like my choices mattered more.

BioShock Infinite is a shooter in which the shooter is somewhere in the background. During the passage, I practically did not use power engineers. Management done pretty crooked. But instead, BioShock gives a wonderful story, narration, characters. BioShock charges you with a positive thanks to a wonderful style. This is the best story game I've ever played.

In structure, it's much more like the first game in the series but in its artistic design (as far as the story goes), it far surpasses even the original. Going into this game, I was skeptical that it was going to be "too different" and stand apart from the rest because of it but as I got further into this game I realized that this decision to separate the game from its predecessors was hardly anything negative. Because of it's inherent independence, it didn't need to try to connect itself in any way; instead of having huge plot points drawing similarities between the two, it could rely on thematics and mechanics to do all of the work while simply adding a VERY few little references via dialogue easter eggs. Referring to biblical "Adam and Eve" allows for connections between the ADAM and EVE in Bio1/2 to be made, and calling Elizabeth "Lamb" also not only draws comparisons to Lamb in the first games but also adds credibility to the biblical entendres. Furthermore, Rapture's name seems much more biblically based than just biblically inspired. Biblical or not, the narratives that tie these games together are air-tight and deserving of praise.
Gameplay, as mentioned, was also a huge step-up. Offering more player freedom, Infinite's quasi-free-roaming aesthetic made me feel much less connected to a linear responsibility and allowed me to have a lot more fun at the wheel. The sky-line was a blast, offering not only a quick escape-route from over-pressuring skirmishes but unique ways of coming into/returning to battles to get the leg up on intimidating opponents. While the vigors were a lot of fun as well, they didn't impress me as much as the Plasmids did from the first games, feeling less powerful and sometimes fairly useless in comparison. Also, with the setting and story being very biblical, I'm not sure why "vigors" and "salts" were a necessary (arbitrary) change and even though it seemed like semantics, I would have appreciated "Plasmids" and "EVE" remaining the monikers of those elements. Possibly my favorite gameplay change, however, was the emphasis on this being a SHOOTER (finally). The first two games while being First Person never really felt like shooters to me. Infinite, however, offered me a bolt-action sniper that I could quickscope fools with and allowed me to absolutely dominate every encounter I was in. Enemies died in one shot nearly 100% of the time and I felt like a Terminator; from the 3rd or 4th level when the sniper is introduced until the very final chapter, one of my two guns was-- without fail-- the sniper.
I think the only thing that I didn't like at all was how expensive vigor upgrades were. For about 1500 bucks, I could make minor upgrades to vigors I never used or for 250 I could upgrade damage and efficiency of guns that you encountered dozens of times in every chapter. I'm not sure why the vigor upgrades were so expensive but they turned me off of ever upgrading any of them since it seemed like a ridiculous scam. Of course, I mostly stuck with my sniper anyways but I would have liked to combine it with a vigor or two.
Lastly, I need to touch on Elizabeth (heh heh). She was the driving force of what made this story so compelling and strong. At first, she offered an innocent Beauty and the Beast-sort of twist but as we learned about her Tears and her will to be free, the story became simply mesmerizing. Her relationship with Booker was nothing less than beautiful and as you started to figure out more about them, it became even more glorious and emotionally epic. She became a little too much of a Deus Ex Machina towards the end but in doing so, she connected the games together in ways that I didn't see coming. I got a little bit of a Disney's Atlantis vibe but that's nothing negative except that it detracted from her humanity and therefore, sympathy of character.
TL;DR: play the damn game, it's hella tight

I like the colorful enviroment and although you can say this game is gore because of the blood and people burning it's not scary because it feels like cartoons (lucky me because I don't like terror nor gore games or movies). Soundtrack adapts to every situation, and when there's action it helps to rise your adrenalin. The plot is also interesting although it gets more and more complicated and the atmosphere has been well done. Also, the first person makes you involve more in the game and I think this was a good decision. I normally play the games in English but this time Spanish voices were decent. To sum up, you could say this is a weird good game. I beat it in 2 and a half days making pauses and searching everywhere so I guess it took me 15 hours or so, if you go straight to goals it might take you 10 hours. About difficulty I only died once in easy mode. Just take cover when you're shield is over. Also, you can carry 2 kinds of weapons. I was in the middle of the game when I realized that I could change my pistol for better guns so make sure to have good weapons. I'd recommend to have one short gun or launcher and another long range weapon. I don't want to talk more about the plot because I don't want to spoil it. It's just a good action game with an interesting plot, good enviroment, not scary but gore so I wouldn't recommend this game for kids. I wouldn't dare to say this is a must have but I don't regreat at all to have bought it. I just feel lucky to have decided to get this game. Enjoy it! Expand

Bought this for dirt cheap for PS3 and a nice refreshing change from other FPS games like the great CoD series. It is like Alice in Wonderland meets psychelic version of Halo and had a love child. Graphics are excellent, the skylines are fun change in the game and action nonstop. Now I still prefer games like Fallout 3 and Far Cry 3 because they have more open world sandbox and crafting options. This is a linear game but still fun.

Not as great and what I did not like why it is not perfect

    1. Autosave method sucks. Why no ability to do manual game saves? This sucks because I have to redo a level if I die.

    2. Also the anti-white propaganda is annoying social justice warrior **** nonsense. I am tired of hearing 24x7 on lamestream media how white people are evil.

    3. Not much replay value. Probably not worth replay except for DLCs.

Overall I like this far better than Mass Effect series and Deux Ex Human revolution which sucked bad.

I wish they would add crafting and ability to use vehicles like cars and boats.

In my opinion, BioShock Infinite is exactly as good as the original BioShock in almost everything. In other words, it is another masterpiece of video games. Even more importantly, it is as good as the first BioShock with different elements and ideas.

At the beginning, one may think this is not even BioShock, as Rapture is too significant a city to be changed this way. However, Columbia, despite its radically opposed atmosphere, offers new challenges and a carefully planned storyline. It maintains BioShock essence (which goes beyond Rapture, Columbia or any other possible setting) while adding many other relevant aspects, such as the presence of Elizabeth, a larger variety of enemies and weapons or new movements to move across Columbia. Gameplay is thus of the same quality -or even better- than the first game.

Particularly, the DLC is indispensable to understand the whole BioShock universe inasmuch as it achieves that everything in the other games makes full sense. BioShock is a perfectly closed circle precisely because of Infinite DLC, so do not miss it. I could not conceive BioShock without this added content.

Personally, I still prefer the original BioShock because of the underwater atmosphere and the sense of decadence. Nevertheless, I think it just depends on opinion, since there is not one 'better' than the other. in any case, bear this in mind: BioShock Infinite is a unique masterpiece in video games history.

There are so many good things to say about this game the art, story and writing are excellent! The games premise is unique and intriguing and you find yourself raising so many questions playing through the game. Most of these questions are answered well and you won't be disappointed.

Compared to the first game there isn't the same sense of unease, you are just going through the motions to one section to another with your companion Elizabeth who is an important plot device used throughout the game. There also isn't an atmosphere like the first game, rapture was an eerie, creepy and wonderful location that made you feel like you were never safe. Columbia is more of a weird, pretty and open location and doesn't have an effect on you like rapture did, however it is beautiful to look at and fun to explore.

The gameplay is more fluid than previous Bioshock games, vigors (new plasmids) are still fun to use but most are just for aesthetic purposes rather than for practical use and you'll find yourself using the same throughout the game, gunplay feels solid but is nothing mind blowing, it gets the job done. The story is very well put together and always keeps you on your toes, it really is one of the best stories in video games with a few mind blowing sections. Apart from a few new gameplay features such as clothes that provide you with slight stat boosts and special abilities every other part of Bioshock infinite will feel familiar to you if you've played the previous games, what also helps the game feel more fluid is the use of the skyhook, this device allows you to hook on various rails that are suspended off the ground and will let you get around a lot faster, this makes combat feel more exciting and is a great addition.

This game starts great and ends great with only a few missions throughout the game that slows things down but the game is quick to rise up again. One of the best games ever made in my opinion but still not as good as the original Bioshock, a must buy!

This game is excellent for FPS fans who're not into the chaos of warfare that CoD provides.

    The pros:
    1- beautiful atmosphere.
2- Well set battles, Smooth game mechanics and a Varied play style
3- Voice acting, Characterization and Story line

    The cons:
1- The way Bioshock Infinite lays down its story.
    2- No actual Boss battles.

I am a big fan of this game, only played this edition and its episodes, the downside is that the story really comes together if one finds and listens carefully to 90% of the Voxophones and listens to all of Elizabeth's conversations, which are interesting but as FPS goes I got absorbed in scavenging and shooting to actually care about all of that, when the final stage arrived I found out that I had imagined many parts of the story that cannot be true, so I read explanations that spoiled the real story for me.

Nevertheless I played it on 1999 mode and observed how the story came together again, who were the important characters and what were their roles, so replay-ability made up for my bad experience with its ending.

Story line is mind blowing, it's along with The Last of Us as best story telling for me, only it was more compelling to explore and marvel at its absurd premises and conclusions, the voice acting is top notch and Elizabeth implies this 3rd person aspect to the game where she's always moving and interacting with my surroundings, along with the interesting Booker Dewitt I never felt like I'm driving floating arms in a FPS, it felt more engaging than some 3rd person shooters actually.

The atmosphere especially in the first stage is absorbing, I felt that the game is daring to some of my deepest beliefs and concepts and provides characters with more background behind their motives, it's dark and it almost felt like pinching me in the sides and bringing my eyes closer as I played tentatively, that's where the magic of Bioshock is, more imaginative designs and more surprises and mysteries that kept me wandering at its shores wondering if I really should dare move forward before I did, unlike even The last of us which had a great story but in many occasions I couldn't wait to get to the finish because it's all predictable, this game was anything but predictable to me.

Some people complained that the boss battles are recycled, well apart from the Handyman whom appears 4 times during the game, there are no bosses, there are super soldiers who have no sign atop them but are in fact more lethal than even the Patriot, so there isn't a standard for bosses in this game aside from the somewhat recycled handyman.

Game mechanics flow blissfully, unlike Dishonored where you could save game at any instant you desire (in order to replay any situation) this game only has checkpoints, but when the player dies he's revived almost instantly, he loses some of his cash and all the characters he's defeated stay dead and the ones he's wounded heal, which makes every encounter counts because there's basically no going back in some situations yet that doesn't stop or hinder one's game because one can always beat the enemy no matter the many tries it takes (unless one's out of cash).

I only mourn the scarcity of boss battles in this game and the fact that it never explains how crucial are its voxophones or random conversations, aside from that it could have been better (which applies to all games) but its still my most enjoyable experience on a PS3.

A great FPS with a unique personality and awesome ideas. Different from Bioshock, ¿better?, I think that it is different, less dark. But the journey for Columbia is full of surprises and the possibility of travel with Elisabeth and the history is a very good point.

Ken Levine knocks it out the park once more. After the success of the first BioShock, you're expecting another mind-bending twist and boy does it deliver. The soundtrack and atmosphere is once again great, even if the combat is a little weak at points.

In any case I would definitely recommend renting the game or borrowing from a friend if not purchasing it yourself. Expand

Just wow. The story in this game is amazing, and you finally get to play as a character that is able to speak in a bio-shock game. That in it self is great, but for story building it is vital. Now this game is not just about the story, but it actually looks truly amazing aswell. Differing from the two other bioshock games, this one is a lot more colorful and a true joy for the eyes. Mechanics wise i feel shooting is a lot better in this one then say Bioshock 1 where i felt the recoil was just plain weird, here i didn't think any of it, meaning it's probably good as it is.

It is set in bright Columbia, where it is full of references relating to such heavy issues like religion and racism, yet it has that sense of enjoyment like a carnival. It is also set in the skies. The story is confusingly great. Although it does not have a surprising twist like in Bioshock, it is still an amazing story that will leave your jaws dropping with alternate dimensions and head-spinning revelations. The characters are memorable and fantastic, especially Elizabeth. Booker DeWitt is also a great protagonist. He portrays as a depressed cop (or detective) who has nothing left to lose and has to pay all of his debts for one last mission. Even better is that at least he is not one-dimensional. He is not too depressed that he stays his pitch low but actually conveys emotions to the current situation and even makes decisions that is tough to even make as that specific character. Elizabeth is by far the best side character in a video game ever. She possesses traits that no other partner possesses. She is emotional yet does not seem one-dimensional. When I mean she is emotional, she expresses true expressions to the current situation of the game that will make the story more realistic like watching a 3D movie. I even just look at her when she says a dialogue. You don't have to protect her for she can protect herself. It is even mentioned in the game that you don't have to save her. She is ACTUALLY USEFUL by giving you health kits, salt and ammo. She is also a very memorable and enjoyable character. You would wish that she was not gone in your missions. Before its launch, they were afraid that she was that character that you have to escort to places and will just be an annoyance throughout the game, but surprisingly, she turned out to be one of your best partners ever in a video game. Other characters were portrayed well like Comstock, the Vox Populi and etc. Even the NPCs were portrayed well throughout the game. The gameplay was amazing. The added game mechanics were actually great game mechanics, even though there were only 2 (or 3 if you add carrying 2 weapons only). The tears were used in order to add more strategies in your gameplay. The skylines are my favorite. Not only it is a great and epic way to evade against your enemies, but you can also us Sky-Line Strike or Smash, where you can punch your enemies away from the freaking ground or even just punch them while riding the skyline. How awesome does that sound. The change of maximum weapons you can carry from 6 to 2 was actually kind of disappointing since I had to sacrifice most of my weapons and make decisions in which I will regret later, but there was something I realized about this new mechanic. This was actually a sacrifice to the developers of the game because since Elizabeth will give you ammo in the game, if they added no maximum weapon carriage amount, it will end up as she was giving you ammo to another ammo even though it was unnecessary. This is to make Elizabeth not an annoying character. Bottom line, buy this game. This is like Bioshock so if you like that game, buy this game. It will truly blow your mind. 10/10 Expand

There are no words that describe how flawlessly this game executes gameplay and story, and how well it mixes a great shooter with such an in-depth world. I had my doubts, definitely. I had my doubts, definitely. I fell in love with Rapture, and it was hard to give up the dark, dreary, fallen city of hope for the flying city of Columbia, but I'm so glad I did. Bioshock blew my mind, it took me to a place I had never experienced with games. The big reviewers will tell you it drops off in the middle, but that wasn't the case for me, I loved every moment of it and I would give just about anything to live in that city (before Booker of course). I'd like to note just how great the acting is from Troy Baker and Courtnee Draper, it's remarkable. The graphics look sort of cartoony at first, but it doesn't stop you from being completely sucked into the world. Calling this anything but the game of the year is a crime. The soundtrack is spot on and the world is believable. Of course, like all bioshocks, it is darker than it seems and packs a large twist at the end. Without spoiling anything, I'll say that it's bigger than than the first bioshock, and will leave you thinking for weeks after you finish the game. Which is good, this game had huge shoes to fill, and everyone knew that there would be a twist, and that's why it had to be great, it wasn't a surprise anymore. But the execution is amazing. I've never been happier to revisit a game and write a review. While I may believe that this game if for everyone, there is a sure way to tell; play the fist half hour of the game, and if you're not completely swept away, then maybe it isn't for you. But I promise, the margin of players who won't enjoy this, isn't even worth mentioning. I spent the better half of four hours exploring the city. No guns, no problems, just a new city to explore, and I enjoyed it tremendously. I cannot begin to explain how great this game is and how I actually found sentimental value in it. Play it, love it, and keep it forever. Whether you're a fan of the Bioshock series or not, now is the time to jump into the masterpiece that is Bioshock Infinite. Try it out, and you'll understand. I'll see you in Columbia. Expand

And that's why Infinite is so well done: you feel like what you're doing has a purpose. It's not just a series of contrived objectives that gets you from point "A" to point "B;" the action has a very natural feel, as opposed to the heavily scripted, QTE games of today. This is a richly crafted game, with a very candid feel. Most importantly though, it's truly very fun, and it doesn't insult your intelligence! Best game of 2013. Expand

I beat this game awhile ago, I recently just tried getting some more trophies for it...
One thing I always hated about the other Bio shock games is, die had no consequence as you would start 2 seconds from where you died in a vita chamber... This was is similar, however if you die in this one you lose money, which is essential to upgrading your stuff and other things.. I really liked that

This was is similar, however if you die in this one you lose money, which is essential to upgrading your stuff and other things.. I really liked that much more than the vita chambers. The graphics are nice, the sound is good. Now the story to this game was ok, for me it was very much too predictable, I knew what would happen before it happened, including the "twist" at the end. The game has a lot of hard work put into it, it was not done by a lazy team that is for sure, considering a lot of devs nowadays are cash grabs...However the gameplay itself, was nice at first but it became really boring. Sure swinging on skyhooks and jumping off and murdering people is cool and all, but it just gets boring...rather quickly... I also beat this game on the hardest difficulty and I will add that the hardest difficulty should of been normal mode.. The hardest difficulty option was not difficult at all, anyone could do it...Now at first I was worried the elizebeth would be annoying, but turns out you are happy to have her with yu, she will give you items when you are low and she doesn't get in the way , the did this right as I have seen many other games fail in AI co op.. I give the game an 8.

Multiple dimensions and a clever scenario with a surprise around every corner make it difficult for us to explain our enthusiasm without spoiling the story. Only the extended ghost chase (literally) halfway through the game drags on a bit too long. [April 2013, p.74]
