May 4, 2012Overall I think Awesomenauts is a really solid, fun take on a genre that hasn't seen much face time on consoles. I really hope that despite the issues with the publisher Ronimo has a chance to support the game with future DLC, because it's a title that could easily be built off of for months to come. It's a game that definitely warrants the awesome part of its title, and even if you've never jumped into MOBA games before, Awesomenauts makes a pretty good place to start.

May 9, 2012The perspective might be unsual, but in the 2D-arenas you'll witness intense online battles. Balancing is okay, controls are easy to pick up and the cartoon style is easy on the eyes.

Official PlayStation Magazine BeneluxApr 25, 2012Don't expect complicated controls or a deep, engrossing storyline, but 2D arenas that look like they have been puked on by someone who ate too many Smarties, a boatload of upgradeable weapons and two teams of three mercenaries trying to destroy each other's base. [May 2012, p.88]
-
May 8, 2012Mix up a 2D platformer and a MOBA game and you get Awesomenauts. It offers a great multiplayer experience on the cheap. But on the other hand it's really frustrating playing with a bloody noob in one team, because the match making is not the best.

Hyper MagazineJul 19, 2012Even losing a game of Awesomenauts is still fantastic fun. [Aug 2012, p.80]
-
May 8, 2012Awesomenauts is surprisingly accessible, offering plenty of depth for those seeking it, the overall package being one that looks sublime and plays out with such a rare degree of fluidity.
-
CD-ActionJun 6, 2012A colourful, humorous cross between 2D platformers and MOBA games. In single player mode it can get boring pretty fast but is addictive in multiplayer. [July 2012, p.72]
-
May 14, 2012The simplistic combat paired with strategic gameplay offers a fantastic experience for those gamers who are either new to strategy games or just wish to play a quick game with a few of their friends. Even though frustrating at times, Awesomenauts is a great addition to the PSN's strategic game line-up - as long as you keep the moronic NPCs off your team.
-
Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaMay 7, 2012It's a hell of a slog to win a match and characters are fairly underpowered at the start. It is tactically deep and responsive, but make sure you have mates to play with. [May 2012, p80]
-
Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)May 7, 2012Though there is some environmental repetition, Awesomenauts is fun, addictive chaos at a decent price. [June 2012, p.82]
-
May 2, 2012The mechanics of Awesomenauts initially feel overly shallow – to its detriment. Combat mostly consists of repeatedly pressing one or two face buttons, and there's no real diversity in your objectives. But as you become more familiar, the game's tactical options reveal themselves, and honing your approach to capitalise upon your favourite character's skillset is an enjoyable process.
-
May 1, 2012Awesomenauts loves how silly it is, but it takes its strategy seriously. This is a deeply tactical game, but it needs to be played a certain way.
