Awesome graphics, awesome gameplay, awesome story... everything is just so freaking good. The game is still fresh, not repetitive, fun as hell. It's almost perfect, but it's kind of unfair to give it a 10/10 if it's not very innovative. I mean, the game is almost perfect, fresh, but it's not very different from the second one. I'd give it a 9,5 if I could.

A great continuation of AC:II, now set in a single level, rather than the typical smaller, multiple levels as the series has had up until now. Though, this single level - Rome is huge, and well designed, with a great sense of traditional, historical Italy.
A much appreciated new feature of being able to ride horses within the town, means the travel is far more enjoyable than previous games, as while free-running across rooftops is great fun, after many many hours, being able to just ride the horse between two distant points is far more efficient and enjoyable.
This is even more appreciated when you realise that, for reasons unknown, time limits have been added to many of the levels. In order to reach 100% synchronisation with the different missions, you must complete them within a few short minutes, and while this isn't too challenging, many levels involve a tomb-raider style climb and jump around various abandoned buildings, and if you fall, you will probably die.
Another 'new feature' is Shop Quests, and 'items'. Personally I found these to be a nuisance and a 'cluttering' of the game. Instead of just getting money from chests, you will now also get random items, from minerals, to various fabrics. These are mostly useless, except for being able to complete a few shop quests.. which give you weapon and armor type unlocks, and honestly I found completely unnecessary for the rest of the game. There are far better to unlock with various side missions.
This is still a fantastic game, and despite being a 'minor version' game release, is extremely large and feels like major game, with lots of plot development and character development.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is also epic as AC2, but It's not better. Anyway, Rome is fantastic in the game, the combat is extreme, characters are truly great and graphics are great. But, I didn't like the ending, and It's easy. (9.5)

By far the best Assassin's Creed out there. I recommend this game to those who like shooters and 1st person player games. Thank you Ubisoft for this beautiful piece of Assassin's creed. This game had 3 very simple, overlook-able flaws, and the 1st thing was finding things on your map. In this game, you sadly cannot fast-travel, which made it hard to be running across Rome on your horse for 5 minutes trying to repair it. That brings me to the second flaw, rebuilding it and it becomes annoying to find i later found when I was 98% from rebuilding all of Rome, it took me 3 days to find the last bank to repair. Then there's some missions, which were hard to do if you aren't good with mind puzzles, accuracy or speed. I loved Ezio, and all the graphics in this game. It had remarkably great graphics, and it is so fun to call out your assassins. You get to bond so much with Ezio. Unlike Assassin's Creed III with Conner, you don't bond much or get to understand what Conner lives for unless you are planning on hitting the books again. not fun. Here, you can understand what Ezio fights for, and what he lives for. Going in and out through the Animus is fun. When you hit the end though, you cannot exit the Animus, and if you get the game (Which I highly recommend) you will understand. This game's price has dropped, and you should come pick up this game now, and I know this game is staying with me and my Ps3 for a loooooooooooooonnnggg time! Expand

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood takes what AC2 did well and makes it even better. It may have not been the best story wise, but to me it was my favorite to play up until AC3 The combat has finally been establish and not instead of reworking they can move forward. i love all the additions they added to the game. But sadly I wasn't as captivated with the story like I was in 2. The world of Rome is amazing but the story lacked a little.

Ubisoft's great move on making like an expansion pack of a story into a large new engine and a new experience of a stealth action fighting game. A second excellent entry in the series, showing that Ubisoft have nailed the formula. The main new ingredient for the single player is the introduction of assassin friends who can aid you and be sent on tasks. There's also the introduction of multiplayer, which while enjoyable, was never a requirement. May have served better as a meaty DLC for AC 2, but you can't deny the beauty of Rome.

The next 20 minutes of gameplay left me gutted in a good way. It's these events that fuel Ezio's actions for the rest of the game.

Besides retaining the protagonist and the gameplay of the last game, there are subtle additions the franchise. The first of which is the inclusion of 'Optional Objectives' that contribute to 100% synchronisation. These add an extra layer of challenge to missions and encourage players to revisit sequences that they didn't fully complete. The next is the multiplayer mode, which is a first for the franchise. And last, but certainly not least, is the ability to recruit ordinary civilians and make them part of your Brotherhood. Once recruited, you can level them up, send them on missions or summon them into battle alongside of you to help even the odds. It's this defining feature that earns Brotherhood it's name.

You may have Rome as your only playground, but it's large enough to accomodate your open-world needs. Also new are the Borgia Towers that divide sections of Rome into districts. Conquer these and you liberate Rome.

It may closely imitate the sequel, but AC: Brotherhood is another good mark on Ubisoft's track record.

After the events of AC2, it is safe to say that AC Brotherhood is an impressive upgrade over AC2 in terms of combat system, stealth mechanics, and of course, saturated colors that reflect the games overall mood. Let's not mention that the follow up of AC2 is totally worth the buy to see what happens next in the past and present.

The second game in the Ezio Trilogy, 2010's Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, is in my opinion the best game in the entire Assassin's Creed franchise. It takes everything from Assassin's Creed 2 and refines and improves it, whilst adding in a few new tricks of its own. That's not to say the game is perfect, as 7 years on, just like it's predecessor, the chinks in the game have begun to show.

To start with, I believe the story is a huge upgrade over 2's story. Ezio's actions at the end of 2 come back to haunt him, as he now rides off to Rome to rebuild the Italian Assassin Brotherhood and destroy the Templars from the source: the infamous Borgia Family. The story contains much more drama and tension, especially within the Assassin Brotherhood itself, as we see how the repercussions from 2 have affected the city and inhabitants of Rome, as well as Ezio's allies in their own personal quests. It keeps you hooked in much better than the previous game thanks to it's great storytelling and amazing character-work as you slowly begin to rebuild the Brotherhood as well as Rome and rid its streets of Borgia/Templar influence. Speaking of characters, they are given much more space in the limelight and continue to develop wonderfully, with Niccolo Machiavelli and Claudia Auditore (Ezio's Sister) standing out the best. All allies (past and present), are made much more likeable and interesting through their interactions with Ezio and each other, as well as how they react to their own personal missions.

Gameplay is also quite the improvement, with combat made much more easier and fluent (a counter indicator and execution streaks as well as new combat moves, gadgets, and improved enemy speed make combat much more enjoyable), and the movement and free-running is much better and more responsive. However, it's still not perfect. Ezio can still miss or just fall off buildings at random, and similar combat problems to what I faced in 2 still exist, but are much less frequent. A fantastic new addition to the gameplay is the ability to renovate shops and buildings to get higher income, more influence, and more equipment for cheaper discounts. It's really fun to do and extremely rewarding the more you renovate. Using Leonardo's inventions (like the machine gun and tank) in their own unique missions added a new flavour into the game and were extreme amounts of fun. The new Assassin Recruits feature was also a great amount of fun to play with, creating some tense and amazing moments when you call in many Assassin's at once to fight at your side, or to assassinate many targets at once. It really feels like you're making your own Assassin's Brotherhood and it can keep you playing for hours. Side missions are also still a great break from the main missions. From the Leonardo invention missions I mentioned earlier, to the many contracts your allies give you to help further their causes, to the underground catacombs and lairs which were so much fun to navigate, to the plethora of collectables.

Finally, this game looks absolutely breathtaking, the lively city streets, the lush fields, the dazzling ruins, it's all more alive than ever and it really immerses you into Ezio's world as you navigate around the frankly massive playground of buildings, ruins, and iconic landmarks.

All in all, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is an absolutely wonderful experience and one that places it in as the Best Assassin's Creed Game ever (in my opinion). To me, no other game in the franchise beats it in terms of story, character, and spectacle.

It's almost what I could call "the perfect AC game", because it had everything that made AC 2 such a masterpiece, and went on adding an original multiplayer mode that was very fun to play to be honest...

Roma was incredible as the only city in this game, and it didn't bothered me to have only one city, at all. Ezio matured and was at his very prime. The story went full circle, in the past and present. Friendships and relations between the characters were great. Side missions were more interesting than ever. The brotherhood really meant something. Nah, for real, this game looked incredible.

The main reason I don't give it a 10, is that it also looked... a bit too much like AC II on many points. Again, don't get me wrong : AC II was such a success that not continuing and focusing on giving a great sequel would have been a bad idea. But it honestly kind of felt that they had to copy and paste many things in order to have Brotherhood released less than a year after AC II.

A lot of things were reused, maybe a bit too much, and I did not felt that I was living a "lifelong adventure" as much as AC II. Besides, it marked the start of the yearly release of AC games, which led us to embark on the downfall of the saga.

But still, I feel like AC Brotherhood was where the saga peaked at maturity. It had everything Assassin's Creed should be all about, and it's a must-play for sure. That's why he's only short of 1 point from the perfect rating!

The game is definitely worth its standalone price tag, however I have to agree with some other reviews on its recycled content that is from AC2, but the story is good enough to cover that up. I would also give it a higher score if it was for xbox or PC, but again any game that is not designed with PS3 in mind will often be full of bugs that needs quite a long time to iron out. However, I think it is very possible to go through the game without being killed, and I found the game's combat far too easy at times - with spamming the same kick, slash, slash, kick, slash, slash to win fights, with ten guards being disposed of with ease as they all seem to be scared of actually attacking you and seem to wait for you to dispose of them!

Any Assassin's Creed fan needs to play this, it is unmissable if you are a fan of the franchise.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is one of the best open world games in this generation, next to the original Assassin's Creed. The graphics are a huge improvement, and the story is as amazing as usual. The characters have become more love-able and are really their own, not some cliche characters from other games. I actually was stunned when Mario died, and I was hanging on the edge of my seat when Ezio was shot. The multiplayer is amazing, Ubisoft took the best parts of the Assassins Creed gameplay into the online experience. The maps are diversified and there is multiple opportunities for teamwork, something that has become uncommon in today's gaming world. The only thing that I didn't like was that in the Story Mode, the new combat system made killing enemies way too easy. And in the multiplayer it takes around 7-15 minutes to find a match, and there are always long waiting times for waiting on all the players to synchronize to the online game, and thats an extra 3-5 minutes just to player a 5 minute round, its not worth it. So much potential unfulfilled and some problems in first game still not addressed. But then I realized this game is tremendously fun if you try to cause as much trouble as you can. My favourite weapon is now the crossbow which truly gives that 'Master Assassin' feeling like in the trailers. The recruits aren't too bad either they actually help in tough spots. Overall the game's main meat is still a mixture of often hugely broken stealth elements, hit or miss free running/ climbing, dodgy targeting systems, inconsistent AI and fidgety camera aswell as unnecessarily long kill animations but this game HAS managed to improve a good amount over the last one though not without bringing some of its own tacky things. leveling up recruits, weapon stats and spread out and recycled side missions only aim to extend the games content some times artificially and are not always fun. The overall flow of combat is great because of the chain kills and horses are good fun. Not to mention the music is pretty engaging and as always the main missions and set pieces are pretty momentous. This game still needs to put more emphasis on thinking but no need to punish you for not doing it. For example there is no emphasis on even preplanning your escapes let alone making good ones (you can actually tell a group of mercenaries to wait outside the kill zone you know so they stop your pursuers after the kill, also having a couple of guards on you is not much of a problem anyways ). So yeah ignore the label "Assassin's Creed" and just play the game for what it is and you'll enjoy it. It's not really 'nearly there' but still a pretty good package. Expand

Story: Directly after the events of AC II, Ezio finds himself threatened by a new enemy, Cesare Borgia, son of AC2 antagonist Rodrigo Borgia. Now, Ezio heads to Rome, aiming to finish the Borgias once and for all. To cut a long story short, Brotherhood fails ti live-up to ACII's standards, relying more on cool and explosive set-pieces than on its script, which tends to fall short compare to AC2 or AC1. Thankfully, it begins and ends in a blast, and features some good development for Ezio and Desmond's characters. 7/10

Graphics: Using the Anvil engine, Brotherhood looks great and features some outstanding art design. Animations, however, are sometimes buggy and there are several technical hiccups. 9/10

Sound: Beautiful soundtrack and superb voice-acting, even if it falls to shame due to AC2's superior soundtrack and voice acting. 9/10

Gameplay: For the most part, it's AC 2.5, having a somewhat more polished climbing and fighting systems. BH's new feature is to sends Assassin recuits to eliminate guards and targets. While it is an overall nice add-up to the whole game, particularly for its story, the recuitment feature makes the game way more easy, and since the enemies in the game are not the smartest around, BH is a very easy game to beat. Still, I can't truly rage at the iconic combat system of AC. 8.5/10.

Multiplayer: Wow, just wow. While the single-player may not be the AC standard, BH's new multiplayer mode is amazing, unique and brings new life into the series. It's a very tactic and punishing experience, and may not appeal to all, but it's nice to see in fresh ideas for multiplayer modes every time in while. 9.5/10

Lasting appeal: Huge. Really, really huge. Tons of stuff to discover and complete, even if the story missions are so easy you can finish the whole game in a day or so. Multiplayer adds a lot of playtime to those who willing to spend their time within it and master their tactics. 9.5/10.

Verdict: Brotherhood may fail to reach the heights set by the legendary AC 2 due to weak story and dumbed-down difficulty, but it is netherless a great game with a superb multiplayer mode and beautiful art design.

The multiplayer is very fun and unique from your usual call of duty esque games especially with a few friends. Only problem is most of the problems with assassins creed 2 remain (which was few but still) and most frustratingly the game decides to do a metroid and start you off by losing all your equipment from AC 2 which is extremely annoying if you got used to being able to waste enemies easily with your dual hidden blades and scale buildings with ease. Combat has been facilitated, but not very much, so expert AC gamers won't bother. The Bank and rebuilding Rome, makes winning money much easier than before. The Crossbow is now available. The Animus program training is fun and will improve your stealth, combat and free running in the actual game. Graphics slightly improved, but improved in the end. Voice Acting excellent. Beautiful Soundtrack. Addition of optional objectives to synchronize the mission to a 100%, which for expert AC players, will be a ton of fun to do. Assassin recruitment. It really makes you feel like, like on the tittle says, you're in an actual Assassin Brotherhood. Present Day starts to get fun, while in this game, you have to do missions that require tracking things or free run through places. Multiplayer. It is very fun challenging yourself to be the greatest assassin, really helps the game maintain itself. The Ending. This ending is done perfectly and will be leaving you anxious to play the next in the franchise, to know what happens.
    Bad Points:
Although Horse Riding is now available inside the city, it is not very well adapted to city obstacles, and sometimes, is frustrating. There is only 1 city, and after creating games which contained 4 or 5 cities, Rome feels small. You can't spur or gallop, and sometimes running, feels faster than the horse at "full speed". It feels like AC II remodelled, and not like a brand new game. There is almost no addition of secondary characters, just the old ones like Mario, Machiavelli, The Fox, and so on.
    Final Score:
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is a nice addition to the Assassin's Creed Franchise, but it feels like a second AC 2. The Story is still strong but it feels like they're running out of material for Ezio. Average Score: 8.8

finished the game for 17 hours. I like the story but i find ac 2 better. The controls are clunky most of the time i find it frustrating and annoying. I dont like the new features introduced from ac 2. And the puzzles are not as original and fluid. Overall i enjoy the game i seldom get bored to it.

Very good and decent game, same as AC2. A lot of things since AC2 were improved. World became more complex. I definitively recommend this game in case you played AC2!

AC 2's troubles have been largely removed. The newly added features have been properly absorbed into the story. And the story is definitely better. So what you didn't like in AC 2 has been corrected and the features you'll like have been added. Better than 1 and 2 in every way.

Mejora respecto al 2, pero creo que la historia y en general es algo peor, aún así, una gozada.

I think this game is just like dlc but with a long story, very silly when ezio struggled to get apple on AC2 but was easily taken by cesare

El juego resultó ser un prometedor sucesor de AC II. Su historia es atrapante de comienzo a fin. Las mecánicas resultan ser muy cómodas y su final es impactante.

I am really trying to like this game. It has me fixated. It could easily win Game of the Year, because of the production values alone: ever so grand. The gameplay: like crack, so addicting. The depth: massive. And yet this game is so full of fail that I can't even begin to disguise my disdain. Assassin's Creed (AC) is sadly broken. It could easily win Game of the Year, because of the production values alone: ever so grand. The gameplay: like crack, so addicting. The depth: massive. And yet this game is so full of fail that I can't even begin to disguise my disdain. Assassin's Creed (AC) is sadly broken. It's like having a plush body of your favorite classic car in your garage, but the engine's utterly trashed so it's not drivable. What I'm saying is that AC is ever so brilliant in its scope, so full of raw potential. Now I see... my analogy is flawed. Because playing AC is like handling a very fast sports car, but the previous owner had a cat or something and it ganked in the driver's seat.

Let's look at the controls, first. AC suffers from the same problem it had in its first release: bad bump mapping and over-sensitivity. You'll leap off building walls into thin air. You can't look behind you when hanging on a wall to see where you're jumping toward. This leads to frustration and annoying load times, pushing you out of the game repeatedly. You'll lock on enemies, but the controls are so sensitive that it will switch to a bystander mid-attack, or won't lock onto anyone, leaving you vulnerable. This will happen so many times that you'll rage quit at least once every time you play it.
But the story line is compelling and genius. It will have you coming back for more, like an abusive boyfriend who shows up at the door with flowers in hand, or a gorgeous girlfriend without an ounce of brains in her head. The free-running is epic when done correct. But the bump mapping is so horrible that it becomes almost hilarious to try to get from point A to point B without falling off a wall or accidentally leaping off one.

This game takes a ton of practice to become even remotely good at it. But it's worth the time and the repetitive gameplay.

The multiplayer is perhaps the grandest potential this game has, unfortunately, it's flawed by one single gametype where people run around trying to kill each other swiftly and silently. There are a number of gametypes that would seem intuitive to produce for this game: Free Running races, Horse Races, Combat, Team Deathmatch. But these are nowhere to be found. It will be interesting to see if these concepts are further developed and provided as DLC later. Doubtful, considering the history of games. The mutiplayer is tacked on, when it's the best thing the franchise has going for it. It would be wise for them to expand this, give us more maps, or better yet, make it one giant world where a number of players can engage in realistic nefariousness.

The AI in this game is at once incredible and challenging, yet stupid. I appreciate how consistent it was, but sometimes you would kill a guard and his buddies would come along, look at the corpse and keep walking. Other times it seems laden with bugs as I witnessed one AI standing in one place and spinning around in a circle.

All in all, it's an incredible game, but playing it is nothing short of frustrating. Losing is okay, when I lose because of something I tried and failed attempting. Losing is not fun when it occurs because of janky controls.

The graphics are absorbing, but there seem to be a smothering of sepia tones that wash it all out in amber, ruining a great deal of the ornateness of textures and colors that could have easily been achieved.

If this game wins, it will go down as the worst Game of the Year I have ever played.

One thing i can is that this game is definately not deserving of a perfect score and AC 2 is a far superior game. Pros: The new assassin recruits are useful and earn extra money,The multiplayer is fun but not perfect and has a few glitches, The new gadget one gets is awesome... Yeah and thats it. Overall this game has unimproved from AC 2 in nearly every aspect and the quality has been reduced. This game is dissappointing, what can i say thats what happens when a game is made in a year. I am a fan of AC because of AC2 and dont want to see AC 3 any time soon. 6.5/10. Expand

I was a disappointed with AC Brotherhood. The story is very lacking compared to AC2 and there were a ton of game play problems. I was really disappointed that the developers only took a year to make this game. It really showed in the overall quality of the game. Sure it looked great, but with a poorly written story that had a stupid ending and issues with the game play and camera. I would not recommend this game to anyone until the price dropped under fifteen dollars. The developers put out a game to make money and didn't put in the extra effort to give gamers their money's worth. Reminds me of the major screw-job that IW did to gamers with MW2. Expand

It gets a positive review for being more of the same with the slightly addicting twist of assassin training. Unfortunately, the story is too short, and the assassin training is only fun/interesting until you've filled all slots with Assassins, which takes far less time than it should. Multiplayer not reviewed, as I am generally disinterested in it.

There is a good improvement on the game play mechanics compared to AC2. But the story is kind of **** an acceptable game.Maybe I expected a little too much.

For me this was the worst Assassin's Creed from the first to Revelations. I felt the developers just copy and paste Assassin's Creed II, with a new setting, story, multiplier and called it Brotherhood. The story was weak, it felt more like the part two of Assassin's Creed II than a different game on it's own. The developer's seem to gotten incredibly lazy with this installment and simply want to cash in on the success of Assassin's Creed II (think MW3 to MW2). The environment was not believable, the building look like it's made of card board and Ezio's robe look like it's made of plastic as there not much sway to it. Nonetheless Assassin's Creed II was a good game and if it's not broken than why fix it right? for that I still have my respect for this game. It's not much improvement from the first and felt it was just copy of paste from the second. Expand

Very repetitive, basically the same game as two but with a smaller, singular world. The plot has lowered in standards since then and combat has remained fairly unchanged. Climbing "samey" and multiplayer uninspired and unrequired. Ultimately this should've been better , but it wasn't. Far too like the previous one. It has its moments but stabbing people is starting to get old... 7/10

Recommended to fans of the franchise and also to newcomers. While the single player campaign is entertaining and offers a lot of content, the multiplayer mode is only average. It's a nice goodie, nothing more. The atmosphere, the localization and the videos are pretty well done, which let the player forget time and play hours.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is a more than a worthy addition to the series canon. The similar setting of renaissance Italy will trick folks into assuming this is a half-arsed expansion, but honestly, this feels like Assassin's Creed 2.99. Don't be fooled by Brotherhood's cunningly familiar disguise. Mark it as a fresh target, pounce and take it down. [January 2011 p66]
