Unless you happen to be a complete lunatic who's willing to pay this sort of money for what was originally, and still ultimately is, an extremely simple game on virtually any mobile OS, this release is just staggering in its lack of necessity. Name me just one reason to get this $1 phone game for $50. Ok, I have to admit, console games cost generally more, ok but let it be $5-10. There is of course another aspect that game is played naturally on the tablet, but not so comfortable with the joystick. Leave this nonsense behind.

This game is just another complete rip-off of angry birds. The game itself is exactly the same except the graphics quality is much lower and the gameplay is significantly less user friendly.

Before I actually review the game, we have to mention that this game was $50 at launch, which is just borderline unacceptable. The original launched on the app store for 99 cents, so having to pay such a high price for one new mode and a few exclusive levels is not okay. The original launched on the app store for 99 cents, so having to pay such a high price for one new mode and a few exclusive levels is not okay. However, the ludacris price point does not affect my overall thoughts, as I just waited a few years and bought it off Amazon for $10, which is still not that worth it, but way better than the launch. Now for my thoughts.

This game is severely underrated. The stages are fun and relaxing. You can play them at your own pace, whether you just want to finish it and move on or try to aim for 3 stars. Each bird has their own abilities which gives each level variety too. You could design one level, and the outcome would be different depending on what birds are being used for it. Speaking of levels, there is an insane number of them. There are 160 levels in the main story, with around 20 extra levels being unlocked as you collect stars. There are also the 20 aforementioned bonus levels included, which most are really fun. As someone who is a completionist in these types of games, the game could keep me coming back for weeks, possibly months.

On the whole, Angry Birds Star Wars for the PS3 is actually a moderately good game that definitely does not deserve the hate it gets. The controls are responsive and precise, even with a joystick. But if you really do not want the joystick, there is Playstation Move compatibility with the game as well. There is just so much to do, so much to collect, and a lot, if not all, of the things to do and collect are engaging the whole way through.

This game ruined my life. After playing through the Tattoine part of the game, I was mentally drained. I felt like the FBI had preformed copious amounts of torture upon me. My mind was foggy, and plagued by the theme of this game. I was confused, and disoriented; the only things that I could still make out in my mind were my subconscious voice, and sounds of the game repeating in my head. This game ruined my life. If you simply can't resist the urge to use the Force against piggy Storm Troopers, then put that wallet away and buy the mobile version.

Angry Birds Star Wars isn’t the greatest of games, it is a tried and tested formula that offers little new and is cashing in on both its own success and the success of one of the biggest movie franchises in the world. It does however do what it does as well as it does. If you enjoy the franchise as a whole, then you’ll get plenty of mileage out of this version, but it is one for fans of the series only.

Angry Birds Star Wars is still an excellent game on PS3, with some new levels and a coop mode in addition... but this console version is still thirty times more expensive than the original! That's a shame.
