An astounding and strange mash-up of rogue like elements, beat-em-up gameplay, and capture mechanics like those in Pokémon. Won't take long to beat, but it will take long to master all the characters as every monster in this game is playable once captured and can be used as an extra life/character you can voluntarily switch to and from. Great with someone who is willing to play something aAn astounding and strange mash-up of rogue like elements, beat-em-up gameplay, and capture mechanics like those in Pokémon. Captivating beat'em'up infused with RPG elements and a healthy dose of Chilean mythology. It could use some fine tuning in regards of its control scheme but the game itself is worth revisiting. [Issue#245]

A 2-hour repeat-fest isn't an odyssey. Still, an interesting hybrid of genres that succeeds more than it fails. [October 2014, p77]

Between those shooting star moments, too much of Odyssey weakens under the pile. It’s many things at once with new ideas; this is the both the kindest and most damning thing to be said about it.
