  1. I do like this game, and I feel that if a few problems are fixed, it could rank up there with the Tony Hawk’s, and the Aggressive Inline’s of the extreme world.
  2. Comes close to being an excellent surfing title since all the right elements are present and accounted for, however small annoyances in graphics and challenge difficulties can become just a bit irritating.

Blows away all other surfing games already out.

A near-complete package. There's a good variety of moves, challenges, and features to keep the average extreme sports fan coming back.
  5. PSM Magazine

It's an addictive, unique, and fun game that definitely delivers the best surfing on a console. [June 2002, p.35]

The PS2 doesn't look very good compared to the Xbox version, but it actually plays a whole lot smoother, thanks to better tuned collision detection, smoother moves animations, and a much better sense of speed.
  7. The wave graphics are solid; the soundtrack is marvelous; and, most importantly, the game play is tight and intuitive.
  8. It remains enjoyable and challenging with considerable replayability even if it's not going to take home any awards for visuals or challenge the popularity of the bestselling "Tony Hawk" titles.
  9. Neither TransWorld Surf nor "Sunny Garcia" tap the videogame potential of surfing as far as the "Dave Mirra"/"Mat Hoffman"/"Tony Hawk" franchises pushed the interactive representations of their respective sports.

More laid-back surf tunes would've been nice. [June 2002, p.100]
  11. Thanks to a fantastic combo system, good music, and solid graphics, TWS manages to pull you in very, very slowly.
  12. While the graphics took a small hit in the PS2 version, they have managed to tweak the control to near perfection.
  13. Multiplatform gamers should be playing it on the Xbox.
  14. 70
The best surfing game on the market.
  15. It's not going to take home any awards for visuals, nor is it a "Tony Hawk" killer in any way, but it proves to be an enjoyable and challenging surfing game with considerable replayability.

This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. TransWorld Surf PS2 version is a smooth surfing game that I admire because there are very few good surfing games. Graphics are inferior to the xbox version but the animation or collisions is better and a bit more realistic on ps2. Playing is a bit tricky since the game doesn't tell all the tricks in which is a flaw for me. The multiplayer is awesome you can play as a shark, very memorable; then the main campaign is good because it will give you a challenge despite few pointless objectives that don't seem to make sense like jumping on a boat. But overall this game is great go buy it on any version is a gem for sure. Full Review »
