  1. Transformers: The Game is like the Prom Queen from the nerd's perspective. She's really very beautiful and engaging, but trying to get your hands on her is a maddening adventure. If you do get your hands on her you can't share with friends (1 player only), and you might not want a second date after that first experience.
  2. It’s not that this game is terrible, just kind of unimpressive and full of things that have been done better elsewhere.
  3. It’s about on par with all other movie licensed games: relatively short, decent graphics, decent gameplay, and not much value to it.
  4. Transformers: The Game is a big, loud, shallow action game that severely lacks in content.
  5. Transformers: The Game should be a sleek, cutting-edge sports car; instead, it's an old beater whose driver's seat has a spring sticking out in exactly the wrong place.

With this subject matter it could've been great, but all the noise and effects in the galaxy can't disguise the lack of invention or class. [Aug 2007, p.82]
  7. This is the epitome a game that was quickly thrown together with the most basic and juvenile concepts videogaming has.
  8. As far as summer movie licensed video games go, Transformers is sadly one of the worst we've seen this year. While the movie stands, the video game most definitely falls.

But there are a few downsides to the game.
Causing destruction is honestly way too damn easy (Great for Decepticons, horrific for Autobots), vehicle controls are way too loose (Driving a car-based vehicle can be horrendous), depending how well you do you may end up finishing the game in no-time, and action could have been better.
The main issue is that there isn't much depth to the game as there could've been to make it something spectacular.

I'd recommend this game to anyone who is just looking to have a good Transformers experience and is satisfied with just bashing Deception/Autobot heads. Just don't expect there to be much.

Starting with the few positives, the transformation animations of the robots do look great, as do the graphics generally in the game. You can play through the entire story from either the Autobots of Decepticons which is also neat and would have been a fantastic addition of the game was enjoyable.

The guns every character is equipped are useless against any enemy with a shield, which ends up being the majority of the enemies in the game. The three melee moves your character can do do not make a combat system, sorry.

The enemy AI is incredibly cheap and will spam their guns at you resulting in knock-backs which can be enfuriating. The voice acting in this game is equally awful with overdone acting and no effort aimed at a coherent plot, no inclusion of even the movie's basic plot structure.

This game is garbage. For a great Transformers game, play the one simply titled "Transformers", or War for Cybertron, those games were made with time and care behind them, and it shows when playing them. This movie tie-in is a cash grab hardly worthy of the 5 dollar Best Buy bargain bins.
