Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07

Should be seen as the greatest game in a long line of excellent golf titles. This game is the culmination of six years of genre dominance. The new team game modes are fresh and fun, while the structure of the Team Tour is a perfect blend of team management and in-game strategy.

Even though it is still the same formula EA has gone with for years, Tiger Woods PGA Tour continues to be play home to a winning formula that has gone largely unchanged for a good reason.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 is the greatest Tiger yet, but it's starting to feel like season five of The Sopranos. It's still the greatest show on TV, but it's starting to feel a bit stale.

Same innovative control scheme as last year’s edition, now with a greater emphasis on using both analog sticks to land the best shot. The new courses were designed with a variety of layouts, ranging from easy to extremely difficult.

Undoubtedly the best golf game on the market right now. If you picked up last year’s version, however, the refinements—unless you’re a diehard Tiger fan—may not be enough to warrant the purchase.

Whilst certainly the best in the series, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 suffers from being far too similar to the previous game. [Issue 145, p.93]

There’s not a better golf game available on the PS2 and it comes recommended to anyone but the most ardent of golf-haters.

It all adds up to be the finest Tiger yet, but the lack of innovation means we'll hold on to our copy of "Hot Shots Golf." [Holiday 2006. p.81]

It is pretty obvious that EA has pretty much shifted their focus onto developing and innovating for the new generation of consoles, and simply decided to throw some “best-of” material out to the older systems.

Pick this one up if you want a fun golf game, but avoid it if you’re expecting something new and amazing.

It adds a new wrinkle to your career mode via Team Tour mode. You'll beat the usual club pros as you go up the ladder, but this time you can add them to your team.

Hardcore golfers will be disappointed that Tiger Woods PGA Tour isn't making revolutionary improvements, and everyone else will wonder why EA can't seem to make fields of green look prettier, but it's still the best golf game you can buy on any platform.

The true joy in Tiger Woods 07 comes in the new difficulty settings and the balance they provide against an otherwise birdie-heavy affair.

Tiger continues to dominate the golf genre with the same fluid gameplay but with more modes, bigger selection of courses and a nice visual upgrade.

It is undeniably the best of the series and it has more than enough content to offer. However, the problem is that the difference in price between the 06 and the 07 edition of the game does not correspond favourably with the number of improvements that have been made.

There's very little that's truly new in Tiger Woods 07, but it's still a very good game.

The Team Tour mode is fun, but everything else about the game has been seen/done before. Maybe a $25 price should be next year's "added feature."

The current-gen versions offer a solid golf game with a ton of content. Whichever version you choose, you’ll be getting a great golf experience.

The main gameplay is solid and the lengthy PGA Tour mode and Team Play mode will keep you quite busy for many hours. On the downside, production values are rather loose and inconsistent and the game has more than enough of its share of graphic, sound, physics and ball placement issues.

If you're cool with paying full price for another minor upgrade to last year's already good game, Tiger Woods 07 is for you. That sounds clichéd, but there's nothing so good, so bad, or wildly different this year that will make anyone change their opinion of the series. Only fans need apply.

It's as good a golf game as they come, and while there might not be a whole lot of improvement over 06's mechanics, it's at least as good if not better than last year's title.

The perfect place for a beginner to the series to start. Almost everything in the game has withstood the test of time and has been streamlined and smoothed to make it as accessible as possible to all players. However, this means that long-time veterans of the Tiger Woods series won't find much changed from last year's offering, either.

Very much a case of new year, same Tiger, boasting the least significant set of updates we've seen in the series for some time. That said, it still rightfully deserves to dominate the genre, being immensely satisfying when it goes right, and deeply frustrating when it goes wrong.

There's little argument overall that Tiger Woods 07 is the best possible starting point for golf-game beginners...but anybody who was getting a bit bored of the same formula last year will be even less impressed with this outing.

The recently released "ProStroke Golf" demonstrated how a more advanced control system can work on consoles, and playing Tiger Woods 07 does feel like a slight step back. At the same time, the controls have a simplicity to them that makes the game easy to play, and there is level of depth to the control and shot choice for the more serious players.

I can, without a doubt, say that the more people you have huddled around the PS2, the more fun you’ll have.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf 07 looks like it will be the swan song for the series on the PS2, and I would say that it’s about time after playing this game. If other versions of the game had the issues I experienced with it, I’m surprised that it lasted this long.
