For every awful moment in The Warriors, there are two great ones. The mix of story, nostalgia and out-and-out combat is a heady concoction and when it all clicks, it's thoroughly enjoyable. [Dec 2005, p.120]

An enjoyable beat-'em-up that does the movie justice. But there's little more than a basic scrolling brawler under all the great ideas. [Nov 2005, p.84]

It is worth a glance, but if you bore easily you may find this doesn't have the 'wow' gameplay factor to hold your interest for long, and would probably be better off looking elsewhere ultimately.
  4. Sadly, The Warriors is never more than running about smashing people's heads in to cool 1970s music and listening to clichéd gang speak. We demand more these days. [PSW]

It's when the game is at its most GTA-like that it comes alive, conjuring up scenarios that take in whole city boroughs and throwing at you groups of adversaries and challenges you have to juggle on the fly… and then you get to a tediously engineered boss encounter and it all begins to get tiresome again. [Christmas 2005, p.109]

While gameplay mainly consists of combo-basedRockstar's adaption of the 1979 cult film is a fun brawler that delves into GTA territory. While gameplay mainly consists of combo-based fighting, you can still participate in petty crimes like stealing car radios and vandalism. In addition, there are some "Manhunt"-style stealth segments that appear in the game. You can also use squad commands to create havoc with your fellow gang members. The game mainly serves as a prequel to the movie. It takes place hours before the events of "The Warriors". But it eventually becomes a recreation of the film in the final levels. Overall, this is a fun fighting game that can be compared to "Def Jam: Fight for NY". I would rate it with an 8.6 out of 10. Full Review »
