You have the instant playability of the Dreamcast classic ["Crazy Taxi"], but with television's favourite family stuck onto it. How can it go wrong?
-
The details and references to the TV show will provide non-stop amazement.
-
Easily the best console Simpsons game ever. Considering that the lot its in is comprised primarily of crap that isnt surprising but the fact that I like this game better than Crazy Taxi might be.
-
This reckless, Crazy Taxilike romp around town is like a high-speed dream tour for fans of the series. Almost every Simpsons character in the game is either a driver or a passenger.
-
A game that only Simpsons fans can appreciate.
-
Game InformerIt looks a little worse than the Xbox version, but moves a bit faster and controls slightly better. [Dec 2001, p.93]
-
All the Simpsons characters and environments are lovingly and faithfully recreated, replete with references to specific events in episodes.
-
Its a fairly well done one but the controls are not nearly as precise [as "Crazy Taxi"], the moves not nearly as cool and the concept is more stale than Apu's old donuts.
-
Ok so The Simpsons are getting better in the games industry, "Simpsons Wrestling" was diabolical and should never of been created. The Simpsons Road Rage is a decent game.
-
Maybe its because Im such a big fan of the series but I absolutely love this game.
-
What makes this game rise above its humble beginnings are the tons of unlockable characters and the six different environments.
-
In the very least it will provide a good laugh and a desire to watch some re-runs.
-
Road Rage suffers from a number of problems, not the least of which is bad collision detection. You'll often find yourself clipping a corner of a building or slamming into another car even though you have room to spare.
-
Write 'I will not rip off other games, stick in a cult TV licence and rake in the cash' out 100 times.
-
Official U.S. Playstation MagazineNon-fans just won't have much reason to play. [Jan 2002, p.134]
-
Like "Crazy Taxi," this game is fun for a few minutes at a time, but its not an engrossing experience. I liked it a little better than I did "Crazy Taxi," because I am a Simpsons fan.
-
So it seems like we have a pretty solid game here. Not brilliant, but fun and dorky, maybe a "B." But there's a horrible curse on this game: the worst loading times ever. You can spend more time waiting around than actually playing Road Rage.
-
The lack of gameplay ingenuity, long load times and crappy graphics will turn most off. But Simpsons fans will love the game anyway.
-
While it certainly doesnt have the graphical prowess of Crazy Taxi the real character voices and classic Simpsons sense of humor make it worth a rental.
-
The developers have done an excellent job of making use of the well-loved license, but the end product is a very average videogame.
-
Nothing more than a third-rate "Crazy Taxi" knockoff, but minus the technique, slick visuals, and overall fun of its source material.
-
It's just unfortunate that technical problems and repetitive audio samples cause annoyance throughout.
-
[It] would make a fine purchase for masochists and parents looking to punish their kids. Other than that, gamers could play "Crazy Taxi," and then watch an episode of the TV show to end up ten times more satisfied than this game will make them.
