The Simpsons Game

The Simpsons Game is a unique title - it's a game where the characters know they're in a game, and seek to use their new game-given powers to aid them in their journey to stop an alien menace and discover the meaning of their existence.

In the end, what you are presented with is a very solid Simpsons title. Its humor, as stated, goes beyond just pleasing regular and hardcore Simpsons fans. So aside from the camera, the game is just find-diddly-ine to go on out and pick up.

I think fans will have a lot of fun with this one, as long as they take this for what it is: a platformer released on an aging console, with a helluva lot of personality and charm – a little like Homer himself.

The chuckles along the way make it worth the trouble for fans, but if you don’t know Arman Tamzarian from Disco Stu, most of the game’s redeeming elements will fall on deaf, bored ears. [Dec 2007, p.142]

The gameplay might not be anything special, but The Simpsons Game delivers more than enough laughs to make it worth a look.

The Simpsons Game on PS2 falls short of its next-gen brethren because of horrific controls that cause unneeded deaths throughout the game.

The problem with The Simpsons Game is that as an extended episode it is great, but as a video game it is average.

The camera is a nightmare, often getting stuck behind some invisible barrier or randomly switching to new and more disorienting angles. The collision detection's had a nervous breakdown, the puzzles are as laborious as a two-hour queue in the freezing cold and the combat has about as much depth as the shallow end at your local swimming pool.
