  1. A somewhat entertaining diversion from the onslaught of current street racing games, but it does not take home any checked flags because of its lack of online play and questionable control.
  2. The only thing lacking in the game is the gameplay. Sure the Actions mini-events are fun to play, but the fact is, the game is rather slow paced compared to "Burnout3" or "Gran Turismo."
  3. The driving in Test Drive: Eve of Destruction is one that I think had the potential to be great but with the lack of fine tuning ended up just being average.
  4. While it offers many unique race types that will provide short periods of fun the game fails to captivate you for long periods of time and as a result the it quickly loses its appeal despite the amount of variation it offers!
  5. Some sluggish racing gameplay and a lack of any real depth beyond the game's offline multiplayer component and slightly taxing career mode mar the experience enough to prevent Eve of Destruction from living up to its potential.

The game's wide array of races runs the gamut from interesting to bizarre, but one constant factor lessens the overall impact - the racin' be slow. [Nov 2004, p.128]
  7. The gameplay is incredibly slow, with weak controls and very sloppy technical facets that harms the enjoyment and eventual replayability of the title.

But the single-player experience is ultimately too limited to recommend it as anything other than a rental.

Surprisingly enough, TD: EOD not only satisfies these hedonistic tendencies, it also delivers an interestingly deep and accessible gameplay system.
  10. Nothing in this attempt at an arcadey demolition derby stands out as unique or outstanding.

If you want destruction and racing get "Burnout 3." This feels as fun as throwing a Lego car around a bathtub while a bald man shouts in your ear about how pissed off he is. Oh, right, there's the music volume down switch. Damn.

To make things even worse, the soundtrack features a short list of songs that are guaranteed to make you reach for the mute button. It was funny to hear The Scorpions' "Rock You Like a Hurricane" the first time, but the 100th?

The action looks good, with real time damage but the sluggishness of the vehicles takes away any excitement the visuals may instill.

The cars are all beater types, there are buses, ambulances, trailer races, flag pole races on and on and on. If its at the derby its in this one. No one has made a racer dedicated exclusively to the derby since this one. Sometimes the critics don't GET a type of culture. If you like derby this is your game. Full Review »

Maybe nostalgia is playing a big role in my opinion, but this is a gem lost in time,as it was released in 2004,year that games like BurnoutMaybe nostalgia is playing a big role in my opinion, but this is a gem lost in time,as it was released in 2004,year that games like Burnout 3,NFS underground 2 and GTA:SA were released,it was very over shadowed, but this definitely holds up in various points, like the graphics, wich were actually good for a 2004 game, the car models were good, and the damage model was good too,the soundtrack is very good, the game had a first person(very rare in this period) mode, with the car interior working perfectly, pedals, wheel and speedometer, and one of the best parts,a story mode,in wich you could buy cars, upgrade it,and even create a custom livery (not even NFS U2 had that, and years before NFS or Forza make it a thing),and one of the biggest points,a open world, that you can explore for missions,races,etc...But in my opinion, the best part of this game is the environment, and how real it seems, the objects dont look out of place,or dated for todays stardard, and the background is amazing, while some games just add trees or mountains so you cant see far away,or add some blank enviroment, this game feels alive, the background being a amusement park,a city or just a plantation field, there is always something everywhere, some objects scattered around, npcs, some cars passing, things that make it appear that youre not in a simulated reality in wich the only thing there is,is thr racetrack youre in,instead, there is a whole world out there, existing without you needing to be there.
So,if you want a very good racing game about destryoing cars, this is a VERY good pick,Monster Games did a very good job in this game.
