It's not the best of the series, but Tekken 5 still offers refined gameplay and some great new features. Pros: Beautiful graphics; stunning level design; variety of fantastic characters; a lot of extras, including Tekken 1-3. Cons: Lacks the innovation its competitors are shrouded in; sluggish adventure mode; no online play.

Effective fighter, and good gameplay is worth the play by new gamers that want fighter's. Great catalog of good fighters in it which is fine. The bad thing is that is to slow the scheme, and frustrating. Tekken is classic followed by tekken 3 , but tekken 5 fails to do dome stuff, but not in the big way.

Nina, Asuka, and Anna are the most lusty babes i've ever seen in a Video Game....... Until now i stil find Nina as dangerous as ever and Asuka as a very hot teenage babe...harrrrrrrrrr... anyway, the game still rocks as ever and the music has been changed since T4(thank god for that), if you want a very good fighting game the Tekken 5 is the one for you!!!!!!!!!

I like the way it the attacks are faster but for a long time craftsman tekken user who studies certain tekken moves to beat the computer and my friends, this has now made the game easier for 'beginners' but harder for 'masters' of tekken. Though, there are no glitches in this game (which i heavily applaude), I have to say it is also VERY annoying not being able to play with Jinapchi! The music and general atmosphere of the game has improved with Tekken 5. After all Tekken 4 was a definate flop because of its draining, depressing music. Though no music can beat Tekken Tag Tournament which unarguably drew all players to addiction. I will DEFINITELY buy tekken 6 if that comes out and i am very happy with this result. Expand

The tekken of tekken series. It combines most of the tekken's in one if i may say the BEST tekken game ever. Why? 1.new players 2.advanced property (including jump property) 3.excelent stages 4. New modes and maybe just maybe tag system in konzole version.

A great game indeed. This game in my opinion is so in depth that it puts other fighting games to shame. I am currently mastering Lee Chaolan and I am still impressed at all the moves I can perform with him (great indeed since in Tekken 2 he is just acarbon copy of Law with some changes here and there) and how deep as a character he has become. Paul, Nina, Heichachi, Jin, Asuka, Raven... all these characters in the right hand are deadly (Nina and Paul are apparently the deadliest however with Nina being the most deadly of the two) And the movie sequqneces are breathtaking to say the least. Tekken 5 is the best 3D fighting game history. Many moves, great history, many possible combos, incredible graphs for the PS2 and the time it was released, a lesson in how to make a great fighting game, many characters, each of them has a great history and all are charismatic, unlike TRASH Virtua Fighter.

A great Tekken with exciting gameplay, a large roster, memorable stages, and tons of content. The Devil Within adventure mode is a bit dull and not as good as Tekken Force and the final boss of the Story Mode is undeniably cheap, but that is balanced out by a polished product that even features full versions of the first three Tekken games!

The gameplay is better than Tekken 4. It brought back a lot of the original characters and also gave us the original trilogy in arcade form which was really good. It also gave us one of the most famous and hardest final bosses in fighting game history.

I did like the Devil Within mini game but it was too short. The Starlight mini game was disappointing. The AI is also very unforgiving and heavily unbalanced.

It is so much fun though despite its flaws. This is a must buy.

The best part of Tekken on Playstation 2, and in general the best fighting game for PlayStation 2 in my opinion. In this part of the game we sell all the events and family disassemblies of the Mishima family, watch the fifth iron fist tournament and sell the arcade mode.

The best "Tekken" game on the PS2. It's visually spectacular, features a ton of fighters and several modes. It is the PlayStation 2's equivalent to the Xbox's "Dead or Alive 3". This is a must own for the fans of the fighting genre. Great stuff. I would rate it with a 9.2 out of 10.

An excellent arcade fighter from that time. If you find it at a game shop buy it (it's like £5 max) call a friend or don't, sit down and tackle reasonably balanced ai using all sorts of combos. It's characters are unique and fun to use so you won't get to bored with the game. Absolutely worth it overall 9/10.

My favorite mode is easily the Arcade Mode, as I had played 33 stages to get to the top. However, there are some issues with the game, such the enemy AI can be a pain in the ass to beat and the final boss is very difficult. The boss is so overpowered, it took me a long time to beat him. That's **** Anyway, Tekken 5 is still a great fighting game and I highly recommend it to any fan of the franchise. Expand

Can I say this is my favorite fighting game ever? Well, i guess so. Almost twenty years later, you can play it and still get the same vibes the present tekken give you, with no doubt, whatever the tekken 10 or 234597 be in that day. Also, it had the arcade games and a lot of playing modes, it was the whole-package. Ten, ten, ten across the boards, honey.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Another great game in the series with the best soundtracks so far.

Tekken 5 is another worthy successor in the series. It adds the most glorious soundtracks in the series to date, new characters and character customization.

The family drama continues in this game. The G Corporation attacks Heihachi in his building by deploying multiple Jack-4 robots and he, and Kazuya fight them off. One of the Jack’s explodes in front of Heihachi. Kazuya leaves him for dead and the only witness of the event is Raven, a ninja dude that confirms to his superiors that Heihachi is dead (or so everyone thinks). Everyone hears the news and assume the end of the Mishima Zaibatsu family. However, business has resumed again shortly after by someone unknown.

Not that much later, the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 is announced. Finally, the sponsor and owner of the Mishima Zaibatsu is revealed to be Jinpachi Mishima, the father of Heihachi. He should be resting in peace, but is instead revived and possessed by a vengeful spirit, granting him unspeakable power and rage. In the Tournament, he faces off against Jin, who ultimately defeats him. Grateful for his eternal rest, Jinpachi dissolves into dust and ash. Afterwards, Jin becomes the new head of the Mishima Zaibatsu.

Tekken 5 includes the story mode/arcade mode, Survival mode, Time Attack mode, and a new mode called Devil Within. This is a mini game in which you blast your way through stages and enemies, playing solely as Jin and his alter ego Devil Jin. It is the fourth installment of the “Tekken Force” mini game series.
Each game mode now rewards you with gold when you complete fights. This gold can be used for the new customization feature in which you can buy cosmetic items for your characters.

The roster has, once again, been updated, 32 characters are now playable, with the inclusion of six new ones. Like the previous games, all these new characters are so characteristic that they were included in all the installments that followed.

The new customization aspect of this game is great. You can now put a party hat on Jin’s grumpy face, something that never gets old. Add some wings to Paul Phoenix, put a flower in Yoshimitsu’s helmet and you are all set. The customization is pure cosmetic, keeping the game balanced as it should be, without paid advantages.

Tekken 5 looks great. It is comparable with Tekken 4, but just slightly more polished. Animations and movement is even more fluent, mainly because the uneven terrain and obstacles have been removed from the previous game, allowing for faster and smoother gameplay.

What sets Tekken 5 apart from the rest of the series is the soundtrack. It sounds so epic and beautiful and it came out of the blue. Special credit must be given to the Moonlight Wilderness track, which is just perfection. If one track got me hyped up for the fight, it was this one. Ten points for the audio department.

I have to say that Tekken 5, along with Tekken 6, have the worst boss fights in the series. In Tekken 5, Jinpachi is an ultimate middle finger to every player. He has a freaking mouth in his belly that shoots fireballs that cannot be dodged and almost one hit K.O. you, and his punches hit harder than a freight train. It is one of the most unfair boss stages in the series and this sucked some of the fun out of this installment, at least for me.

The game was followed by Tekken: Dark Resurrection, a PSP game that includes my favorite character in the series: Sergei Dragunov. It is a shame that he was not present on the PS2 release of Tekken 5, but that does not matter that much anymore because of his availability in the later installments of the series.

In the end, Tekken 5 remains, alongside with Tekken Tag Tournament 2, my favorite entry in the series and will always have a special place in my black heart.

    Definitely recommend this gem.

From a purely technical standpoint, the frame-rate is rock solid, and the lighting effects are lavish as well, and while not as polished, overall, as the technical achievements of "Dead or Alive Ultimate," come a close second. Matching the visual largesse is a comprehensive features list that does for PS2 what "Dead or Alive Ultimate" did for Xbox.
  2. Fans of the arcade version of Tekken 5 will be happy to see a near flawless port of the game, complete with all of the customization aspects of the arcade game. In addition, you'll find your standard fighting game modes of play, plus an in-depth practice mode, and all three original Tekken arcade titles. Hands down, this is one of the best fighting games available for the PS2.
  3. While some of the extra modes aren't as strong as they could have been, the core fighting is nearly perfect, whether you're playing against other humans or computer-controlled opposition.
