  1. To see a series falter so badly after years of doing everything right is distressing.
  2. The towns have a distinct Playmobil air about them, the facades of the buildings looking more Kloppa Castle than Windsor Castle, and the personnel hugely dated and childlike.

A soulless videogame that stands as a grave indictment of how stale a series can become if it loses its spark of creativity and imagination. [March 2005, p.93]
  4. Intolerable loading times certainly detract from enjoyment of the game, but putting this aside for a moment, the developers have failed to imbue their creation with a soul. Devoid of any discernable character, during the most dramatic moments of the story Suikoden feels like it is simply going through the motions.
  5. An uninspired, unnecessary chapter in the Suikoden series. The game’s greatest failing is its incredible mediocrity.

It's not bad, but it's not good. I would say there is no doubt it is the worst game in the Suikoden series, but that doesn't mean it's a badIt's not bad, but it's not good. I would say there is no doubt it is the worst game in the Suikoden series, but that doesn't mean it's a bad game. For some reason the developers thought it would be a good idea to make the protagonist's rune really sucky and sometimes self destructive and the cast of characters are the worst of the series. If this game were a Steve Miller song it would be "Abracadabra"; not a bad song, but not what we want to remember him by either. Full Review »
