Say hello to one of the finest PS2 games yet, and the best snowboarding game ever.
-
An excellent game. From its graphical prowess to its fast-paced gameplay and killer soundtrack, it doesn't fail to deliver in a single area.
-
Everything SSX was, but better. Loading times are better, voice-acting improved, more tricks, new racers, improved tracks...
-
Games RadarIt's SSX's cooler, meaner, smarter brother - and still the most exhilarating game on PS2.
-
Official U.S. Playstation MagazineI can't begin to explain how addictive I found this. [Jan 2002, p.140]
-
It's literally almost perfect.
-
The biggest improvement though comes in the form of the framerate.
-
It has great competitive factions, a large line-up of diverse skaters, and some of the most mind-blowing, thumb-numbing, breathtaking tricks yet seen on a console snowboarding game.
-
A highly polished and much improved product that gives longtime fans, and especially newcomers, a fantastic diversion to enjoy and become addicted to all over again on a shiny new DVD-Rom disc.
-
The brilliance of this game, however, doesn't stop with the audio effects, or the crisp, fast moving, beautiful graphics, with you and up to five other boarders on the screen at the same time, moving at a blistering fast frame rate. The controls in SSX Tricky are perfect.
-
The game uses DTS Interactive and SurroundSoundScape audio technologies to deliver a dynamically enveloping and completely stunning audio presentation.
-
It delivers solid gameplay that outperforms its predecessor in almost every aspect.
-
Tricky has everything that SSX has and, along with tons of DVD extras, gives us all another reason to crash those slopes again this year.
-
WOW, I thought SSX was a great game to begin with even more solid gameplay, yummy graphics and audio that just rocks... Tricky is just AWESOME !
-
More than just an upgrade of the original, SSX Tricky is the best snowboarding game ever made.
-
A very, very good sequel, one that builds and improves on a game that was already brilliant.
-
The best snowboarding game on the market.
-
It's tons of fun...I'm a big fan of old-school Run D.M.C., but it gets a little redundant hearing the sample 'It's Tricky!' every time you land an Uber trick.
-
Game InformerThe play is even more engrossing than before. [Dec 2001, p.92]
-
One of the key successes is the complete abandonment of convention - screw physics, we want to breakdance on the boards in mid-air. SSX Tricky is bigger and better, with more explosions.
-
The visuals are, if anything, more extreme than the previous version - the whole game is geared to slam your eyeballs through the back of your head. Not, fairly obviously, in a bad way, but in a crisp, well-defined and dazzling way.
-
The sound effects are all extremely accurate, whether carving in powder or carving on ice, the noise produced will make you think you're actually on the slopes.
-
Perhaps it's the fine tuning of the controls, or the training section that changed my mind. Whatever it was, I totally am in love with EA Big's newest title.
-
If youre looking for longevity in a game, Tricky has it in spades.
-
With a massive amount of features to unlock and enjoy, SSX Tricky gives fans a whole lot of tasty treats to chew on.
-
The stunt system found in SSX Tricky is arguably the best found in any sports title thanks to a wonderfully intuitive control system.
-
Electronic Gaming MonthlyEven though Tricky isnt completely fresh, its substantial enough to squash any challengers out there. [Jan 2002, p.222]
-
It is full of new ideas, updates, and fun content that flesh out the SSX concept completely.
-
Cheat Code CentralThis game is loaded plain and simple.
-
Next Generation MagazineIts interesting to watch but by no means as compelling as a true sequel would have been. [Jan 2002, p.81]
-
Play MagazineTricky derives as much replay power from its personality as it does its graphics and gameplay. [Feb 2002, p.62]
-
GMR MagazineBoasts a new set of insane gravity-defying and physically impossible stunts, not to mention all-new tracks and characters. [Feb 2003, p.93]
-
Snow Blinding.
