It has the great gameplay from the original, a new story more, and still looks great. But yanking out the big online feature that made me jump for joy, I can't give the game the same score.
-
The fact that you have to train to increase stats, and the fact that training occurs after every match...it's not good.
-
TotalGames.netJust when it all sounds so promising it all falls apart as the boxing itself feels rigid and restrictive, while the punching animations don't feel nearly as convincing as the original Rocky game, with certain animations seemingly failing to connect for no reason.
-
The boxing mechanics, while occasionally enjoyable, become practically automatic after a couple of trips through the career mode. And while the career mode itself is cool, it could have benefited from more in the way of story.
-
If you are a fan of the movies, then youll probably enjoy the games story mode and be a lot more forgiving of the bare-basics boxing.
-
Where the first game was shorter than trainer Mickey Goldmill, Rocky Legends towers higher than Ivan Drago in terms of replay value. Its unfortunate that the gameplay isnt quite as polished.
-
Another problem is the game's terrible collision detection and absurd recovery times after throwing a punch or ducking to avoid a blow.

MikeL.Jan 4, 2005Greatly improved upon the original but could be made alot better by better looking contact when punch is thrown and definitley online is needed.

DavidM.Oct 4, 2004Not that much of a difference from the last game, it still lacks realistic punches and the knockout counter is too slow
