    This updated port ranks up with "God of War" and "San Andreas" as one of the PS2's best games. While the graphics are slightly inferior to the Nintendo version, the gameplay is fully intact.     That was one of the best games I played on the PS2. Quite innovative, it paved the way for all TPS from then on and on top of that it's an excellent game in its own right.

    10/10, Masterpiece. One of the greatest horror survival games out there, amazing gameplay, graphics look great for a 2005 video game. Highly recommended to everyone

    This was the game that set the benchmark in all departments back in 2005. Holds a special place in my heart. I held on to the Steelbook Limited Edition of this whilst back in 2006, I traded in all of my PS2 games towards an Xbox 360. Masterpiece.

    es perfecto en todo lo que se propone, como todo pobre lo jugue en una consola pirateada, el mejor juego de survival horror de la historia, la mezcla perfecta entre terror y accion, jugabilidad buenisima, villanos buenisimos, leon protagonista espectacular.

    While waiting fot the remake to become cheaper, I restarted the original RE4 on PS2. And wow, it blasted me away. If you are looking for some retro survival horror, you're just right. Very enjoyable! Overall rating: 9.7.

I was worried I wouldn't like the gameplay at first cause it felt weird to me, but after I adjusted I loved it. I never got bored a single time. I never complained once. Mainly cause of the gameplay differences and the fact I'll know what's coming, but I assume it'll be good too.… Expand

    Para mim um dos melhores jogos da era de ouro do playstation 2, quantas memorias tenho desse jogo, o jogo que me fez conhecer a saga e praticamente me apaixonar por games em geral, era incrivel e impressionante a qualidade de puzzles, e a atmosfera que esse jogo tinha na época, hoje em dia envelheceu terrivelmente mal, mas nunca vou esquecer das lembranças e da nostalgia que esse jogo me causa.

    this is the game of my childhood and school days! i love this game. when me and my brother played this game first time we were so scared. and after we werent afraid. we continued playing for 20 times. so i can say "THIS IS THE BEST RESIDENT EVIL GAME EVER" and i hope that Japanese will make the remake of this BEST RE GAME

R.e 4 ü bir oynadım birkaç ay boyunca etkisinden çıkamadım yani mükemmel. Kontrollere alışırsınız ilk oynandığında garip gelsede alışıyorsun zamanla. R.E serisi çok özel benim için.

    Resident evil 4 is my childhood game when i was kid, i used to be scared of that chainsaw guy but when i came back some time later i have finished the game so many times i lost count. Unlocked all special weapons including the hand cannon and more. I am 18 now and i am glad this game was there for me when i was a kid and it is one of the best live action shooter game i ever played.

    It was 2004, and i couldnt get enough, and still have this on pc steam.

    This game is great, it is too bad they are going to throw up all over it with political correctness in its remake, then try to cover up the original, moldy stds you.. moldy stds, to die as we live.

    I was 8 when RE4 first came out, too young to play, but old enough to watch my granddad play it, the story, the designs , the gameplay. All phenomenal. I miss you granddad and cherish the many games and times we spent gaming together, I miss you every day.

    So, the long awaited sequel to Resident Evil 3 is finally upon us - and it certainly is the treat that it promised to be. I have to admit, in the build up to the release of this game, I was worried. I was hearing all sorts of rumours, from this being more like Devil May Cry than previous Resident Evil games, to the complete dropping of the staple Resident Evil monster - the zombie.So, the long awaited sequel to Resident Evil 3 is finally upon us - and it certainly is the treat that it promised to be. I have to admit, in the build up to the release of this game, I was worried. I was hearing all sorts of rumours, from this being more like Devil May Cry than previous Resident Evil games, to the complete dropping of the staple Resident Evil monster - the zombie. However, I knew that Capcom weren't a gaming company that is in the habit of letting me down, so I decided to pass these ridiculous rumours off as hearsay, and therefore false. Imagine my surprise then when they turned out to be true, and imagine my increased surprise when they actually turned out to be worthy changes! The loss of the zombies, for example, is a big loss; but their replacement - mad villagers, is definitely a worthy one and it makes for a very nice change! In fact, all of the monsters in the game are brilliantly designed and help to make the game even more of a pleasure to play. The gigantic bi-pods, for example, are a particular highlight; as are the very odd 'regenerators' that come complete with their own unique and ingenious method of dispatch!

    One thing I really love about this game is the amount of movie tributes that it has in it. From The Evil Dead style camera towards the beginning, to the King Kong-esquire way the giant monster is introduced, all the way down to the Night of the Living Dead shootout in an old abandoned hut - the game is a treasure indeed! The choice of lead character - Leon Kennedy - wasn't the best idea in my opinion. While I have nothing against the guy, Leon has always struck me as one of Capcom's less interesting creations and I would much rather have followed the escapades of Barry Burton or Leon's Resident Evil 2 co-star Claire Redfield than Mr Kennedy...but never mind. The story is entirely different from anything we've seen in Resident Evil before, but it actually serves the game quite well and it's always interesting enough to keep you hooked. The way that the Capcom have opted to change to a more arcade style adventure than previous games represents a change for the worse, as it makes the game far too easy and cuts out many of the staples of the series - things such as backtracking and the great feeling you get when you find that all important green herb or another case of handgun bullets. Now you always know that there's more items just around the corner and you don't really feel the same fear that previous games instilled so well.

    However, despite it's major flaw, Capcom have once again succeeded in creating a magnificent gaming experience. While Resident Evil 4 isn't as gripping or as difficult as it's earlier counterparts, this is still a great video game and a prime reason for owning a Gamecube. Highly recommended!    … Expand

    In contrast with the classic ones, this one has brought us some more action, instead of being threatened, you are now the threat. Graphics and ambiance are near perfect, and the dark feeling caused by the scenarios are also the essential part. Both fun and desperate to experience. Definitely a must play.

    Can't add more, I recommend everyone to play this game.

    Edit (February 17, 2022) just discovered that you can play the side mission of "Ada" after finishing the main story, I absolutely loved it.
    The fact that you can still enjoy the story content after finishing the main story, it just makes is wonderful, this game never ceases to amaze my expectations. 10/10 I totally re-recommend it.    … Expand

This game's got a simple story. we have to rescue the president's daughter ashley graham while she gets kidnapped over 4 or 5 times and there is nothing special about it B U T the gameplay ... boy oh boy the gameplay is just FANTASTIC. I don't know what kind of magic the gameplay of this game has but it is just f*cking FAN_TASTIC that it made me beat the game 2 freacking times in a row nonstoply.… Expand

This game is amazing: it has extremely wonderful gameplay mechanics that are satisfying and fun to play through all the time, with varied enemies and weapons seriously offering dozens of playthroughs worth for replayability. The story is cheesyResident Evil 4 on the Playstation 2 is how I grew up with this game, and this was my childhood favorite and is still my favorite game of all time. The story is cheesy but doesn't feel cheesier than a good action movie, and the graphics at the time were stylish and really helped create a blend of horror and action. The sections are rememberable and you can tell this game was perfectly crafted. Unfortunately, this port is really just not the most amazing version of the game with long loads, poorer graphics than the Gamecube version, and slowdown on the framerates but of course, I didn't notice this stuff until I actually grew up. If you are looking to play this game and get that retro feel I would recommend the Gamecube version, but this is still an amazing game. The PS2 version though is definitely the worst version with again, horrendous graphics and visual quality, really long loads for simply the inventory, and choppy framerates that hinder the gameplay quite a bit on this version.… Expand

    A complete masterpiece. Gameplay is so addictive. So addictive you don’t even care about the mediocre story. The crappy dark lore makes up for it. So much content. So worth buying it for its price.

    I've been reviewing these games backwards because I'm weird like that, and after getting through RE6 and RE5, it's nice to get to a game I love and can just talk positively about, I also have some bones to pick with the general flack Ashley Graham gets so that'll be fun.

    Resident Evil was the second game to focus on a sole protagonist after RE1 and RE2 had duel protagonists, and where    I've been reviewing these games backwards because I'm weird like that, and after getting through RE6 and RE5, it's nice to get to a game I love and can just talk positively about, I also have some bones to pick with the general flack Ashley Graham gets so that'll be fun.

    Resident Evil was the second game to focus on a sole protagonist after RE1 and RE2 had duel protagonists, and where RE3 has Jill from the first game, RE4 has Leon from the second game, and where I much preferred Claire in RE2, Leon in this game places him just above Claire in my personal rankings, he's a badass, he's quick witted, he's hot and most of all, he's blonde... why is he blonde? He was a brunette in RE2, what happened? Does he dye it?

    Aside from Leon, Ada Wong also makes an appearance, and she mentions Wesker, there's also a character Jack Krauser who was in some spin-off game I haven't played because they're generally bad, anyway he's kinda cool, I like the way he calls Leon "comrade" in a very American accent, it's just funny to me. As for newcomers, there's best girl and presidents daughter Ashley Graham, fight me, Leon's helpful information lady, I don't know her job title, Hunnigan who only appears on the weird Codec thing, Luis Sera, the scientist who created this games virus, Las Plagas, turned redemption seeking good guy And finally the villains, Ramon Salazar, who is just a treat every time he's on screen, also has a super breakable boss fight if you just buy the rocket launcher just outside the boss room you can kill him in one shot, it's great. And Osmund Saddler, he's not quite as fun, but he's there too.

    Story wise, it's about Leon travelling to a vaguely Spanish town to rescue the presidents daughter, yes Leon works for the president now, no I don't think it's ever explained, maybe it is in that Krauser game, just don't think about it. Along Leon's journey he'll be met with all manner of weird zombie BS, and saying great one liners the entire time, he really approaches this high stakes mission like an action hero, and it is what makes this game for me, I love it. There's also some hidden mission stuff going on with Ada working for Albert Wesker after Umbrella went bankrupt after Raccoon City got nuked in the last game, yeah Umbrella got torn down offscreen, figured that would've been worth showing, but I guess not. And then there's the unresolved rivalry between Leon and Jack Krauser, again I don't know why, I'll play the game soon, maybe.

    Gameplay is kinda funky, see we've moved on from fixed camera angles of the original trilogy and moved into a free-ish camera, I say "ish" because the Leon still moves with Tank controls, it can take a minute to get used to but once you come to grips with it, it feels fine. Leon's shooting is done by aiming the gun, manually moving it over to where you want to shoot and shooting, it sounds really bad and clunky on paper, but in practice it's done very well, enemies are slow, have large windup times and very telling animations, and rarely, if ever, gank you, it's all very slow and methodical, like a dance... with guns and roundhouse kicks, it's great. The gameplay can definitely feel strange starting out, but it won't be long till you learn how to play and then you'll be punching weird infected Spanish villagers like it's no problem at all.

    Before I wrap this up, I want to take a moment to talk about Ashley Graham, and no, it's not to whine about her. Ashley is a good addition to the game, y'all are just bad at video games. Ashley often comes under fire for being "hard to manage" or "annoying" or that she "keeps complaining that I keep trying to look up her skirt with the sniper rifle"...No? just me? Ok. Point is, no the f*ck she isn't. Ashley can not defend herself and in combat situations she is a liability, so you PUT HER IN THE TRASH... No really, the game has dumpsters coincidentally located just outside of large fight areas, their express purpose is for you to put Ash inside where she is invulnerable and safe, and failing that, she stays directly behind you at all times, so when she gets hit, it means you messed up and would've taken that hit anyway, she just saved your negligent ass you ungrateful swine. Ash will never take damage unless you the player make a mistake, git good.

    With my rant concluded, we've come to the end of this review. Resident Evil 4 is a masterclass in action game design, great characters, entertaining writing, amazing boss fights, and a cheesy 80's action movies plot, with a few, aside from some low points here and there, and Leon's weird blonde hair, the game is perfect, an easy 10 in my mind, and a game I love going back to.    … Expand

    As a person who used to play this game back in the PS2 days i can confirm this was one of the best PS2 games i have ever played, even though it’s getting a bit out dated now but it’s still supreme in its level design, story telling, villains and game mechanics till this day

    Some consider this game the GOAT for the franchise , and yes I agree that it is one hell of a game I dont think its the goat , not even leons best story , but this game gave us iconic characters , a great story and I think this was the first game to have the way better over the shoulder camera. Great game

    I just love this game, its just so easy too me after finishing it to play it and beat it again, i have too much things to say, the gameplay is clunky and not great at all, but thats the thing, if the game had better controlls it would broke the game and not be as good as it is, the bad gameplay just makes it better, as is more challenging, the enemies and bosses are so so great, theI just love this game, its just so easy too me after finishing it to play it and beat it again, i have too much things to say, the gameplay is clunky and not great at all, but thats the thing, if the game had better controlls it would broke the game and not be as good as it is, the bad gameplay just makes it better, as is more challenging, the enemies and bosses are so so great, the verdugo, the iron maiden, vitores mendez, the blind man, all of them aree so unique and great, the story is also a good part, its not the best story in the world but its so simple that you can enjoy it without paying attention to the story, the graphics for a 2004-2005 gamecube game are jaw dropping, some textures look aged but the characters look so good, the voice acting is magnificent in some cases, the merchants voice its still in my head and i love it, the game is so fair, it always gives you the enough amount of ammo, but it isnt enough to go killing normal enemies with the shotgun, you need to always be saving your ammo and thats what makes it so cool and fun, if i have to say some bad things, its ashley, she becomes really annoiying how she just doesnt make anything to save her life and just stands up there while enemies try to kill her, and some bosses can be really hard but the game its just one of the best ones, i just recommend it if you want a long game that you can enjoy for ages.… Expand

    Although being different from the original series, which is often criticised, this game was executed almost perfectly. It was my first game of the franchise and I absolutely loved it and got blown away. I played through it four times in a row, no break. Two times on normal, two times on pro. The game has so many little things that make it satisfying. From the loved merchant to the safe room music, from the upgrade system to the treasures and many other things, it has a certain charm to it. sadly, the PS2 PAL version misses some content but I have played the main story and Ada`s Assignment and had fun with everything. Bosses are great, enemy hordes make you sweat, opening the menu and inventory makes you catch breath and think about your next move, treasures are satisfying due to the combination possibility, every weapon feels useful in its own way and the game overall is a masterpiece in my opinion, hence the score of 9/10. Recommended for everyone, beginne rin the franchise or fan, when not minding its differences to the original series.… Expand
