Wrap up the tight gameplay in gorgeous graphics and solid sounds, and Pitfall has never been better. [May 2004, p.69]
-
The more I have played this game, the higher my review score has gone. The farther I got in, the more I enjoyed the puzzles, and the more I appreciated the throwback to the game that started all of this.
-
Keep in mind that you do need some skill to progress; its not an easy win. However, if you like a challenging adventure/ puzzle game, you will have a really good time playing this one.
-
Immersive elements are everywhere: You don't just press a button to activate a lever that opens a gate -- you use the analog stick to shift Harry in the direction you want to tug that lever.
-
Kids and the parents who shop for them or nostalgic Atari 2600 gamers will find it a decent purchase, but its recommended they rent it first as well to see if the unique control schemes arent too frustrating.
-
A great little platforming adventure that is humorous, well crafted and bubbling with personality.
-
This is a new spin for the old time favorite that should give owners of this generation of consoles a feel of what we old guys and gals felt back in the day, or at least that's what Activision intends.
-
But once you get a feel for the camera and compensate for its flaws, the game opens up and feels so free. It's fun to just rush through each level.
-
One of the better platformers available on the PS2, certainly more so than games like Vexx and Sphinx. Its not quite on the level of the Ratchet & Clank or Jak & Daxter series, but then, so few games are.
-
While Pitfall is souped up on Charm it is low on challenge. Experienced gamers will revel in nostalgia, but it will be a short journey.
-
Captures both the good and the bad of platforming, and it does so in a surprisingly fun way.
-
On the bargain rack however, Harry definitely has the brass to stand out amongst on the tier-two competition Ty, Haven, Vexx and I-Ninja.
-
The PS2 version of the game doesnt support Progressive Scan and looks noticeably less sharp than the Xbox and Gamecube versions of the game.
-
Still, these drawbacks in mind, I was entertained with the game from its opening cut-scene to its end credits.
-
A good platforming experience that is only somewhat overshadowed by its limited gamespan. However, its a solid return to next gen consoles for Pitfall Harry, and the inclusion of the original Pitfall and Pitfall II games makes this a must have for action fans.
-
A platform game with lots of adventure, humorous elements and a ton of gameplay.
