NHL 2K7 on higher difficulties is a solid simulation and, with all the modes, teams and options, is the most complete hockey title on the PS2.
-
While the Pressure Control and drop pass are nice additions to the control scheme, they aren’t as innovative as last year’s Pro Control passing or even Crease Control. The new skating engine adds more precision in terms of player movement on the ice, but it doesn’t negate the overwhelming use of one-timers to score goals.
-
Graphically, this year's offering is a big step forward over last year's. However, it still has a way to go.
-
PSM MagazineEven though the PS2 version of NHL 2K7 isn't as slick and refined as its next-gen sibling, NHL 2K7 is probably the best--and perhaps the last--hockey game you may ever play on the PS2. [Jan. 2007, p.83]
-
Perhaps the most notable improvement this year is the AI's adaptation, finally, to the new NHL rules.
-
NHL 2K7 for the PlayStation 2 lacks much of the forward progress of its Xbox 360 counterpart and instead provides an enjoyable hockey game that you've pretty much played before.
-
Play UKGood, but hardly startling stuff. [Issue#146, p.95]
-
The lack of changes will disappoint some, but for 20 bucks the minor tweaks and new roster nicely enhance what was already a great game.
-
PSM3 Magazine UKAnother pretty decent ice hockey simulation. [Christmas 2006, p.99]
-
Game InformerThe AI is still riddled with holes and your money plays from last year will still work. [Oct. 2006, p.94]
-
Official Playstation 2 Magazine UKThe total package feels soulless and, as a result, rather unappealing. [Dec 2006, p.95]
-
Official U.S. Playstation MagazineBut for this season, pay the extra bucks and go with EA's NHL 07 instead. [Nov. 2006, p.110]
