The game does stumble in a couple of areas, but the program pulls together a wide range of elements for a challenging and enjoyable day of gridiron action.
-
It doesnt deserve starter status because its competition has a bigger head start with their titles, but its definitely a big step in the right direction.
-
Some graphical flaws, musical issues, and lightly overbalanced play cast a shadow on the game. However, if you can overlook these issues, youll find a good title to sustain you throughout this season.
-
The things they did well, were recreating a football atmosphere with a hard-hitting, fast paced game. I dont think they are far off; they need to come up with a challenging level of play, more animations and a completely revamped recruiting system.
-
This game is best for those who want to play a blowout game and not think about defense ever. This is a good-looking game, and is fun to play, but purists should look elsewhere.
-
This thing is too easy to run against. I usually get a average of 7 yards on my running plays in this game.
-
The lack of any real college atmosphere leaves you wondering whether or not you are even playing a college football game. The unbalanced controls and strategies do a lot of harm as well.
-
PSM MagazineIt pales in comparison with "NCAA Football 2003." [Oct 2002, p.40]
-
Marred by a poor representation of the scrambling and running game and just no[t] as personable as EA's collegiate masterpiece.
-
A bit too much like its NFL brother, this game does little to simulate the college experience.
-
The gameplay is incredibly unbalanced, the graphics are dated, and, most importantly, the game fails to capture the essence of the college football experience.
-
Too bad the flawed AI of the CPU opposition, choppy graphics and lack of customization keep it far below the excellence of EA's and Sega's PS2 college games.
-
While I thought NFL GameDay made some strides against the NFL competition, I don't think GameBreaker holds a candle to "NCAA."
-
Official U.S. Playstation MagazineJust pick up "NCAA 2003" and forget this one even exists. [Oct 2002, p.149]
-
While playing offense is very easy, playing defense will have you mashing your cleats into the turf out of frustration.
-
There's a nice added tweak in the Head Coach mode...but other than that there are zero improvements on the already deeply flawed GameDay 2003.
-
GameNowJust a notch below "GameDay" as one of the year's most disappointing football titles. [Sept 2002, p.52]
-
It plays and looks like a game that could have been worth your time a few years ago, when most games had mediocre graphics and at least a few gameplay flaws.
