A fast paced, tightly controlled game with tons of depth within its gameplay modes and plenty of eye and ear catching additions makes it one of the better basketball titles to come out in a while.
-
Although the gameplay leaves much for my appetite, the rest of the game is solid. If the gameplay can be improved A LOT for next year, we might be looking at the best college basketball game on the market.
-
It goes beyond most gamers expectations and will be a quality contender soon enough.
-
The career and dynasty modes give a ton of single player depth. The control scheme and overall gameplay tend to pull these down unfortunately though.
-
While, this game is better then previous efforts, Final Four is still a long way from competing with the big boys.
-
The game has improved from last years game with its more in-depth game modes and slight visual enhancements, but otherwise the game still has a long way to go before being the ultimate college basketball game.
-
Poor A.I., stiff controls, and rough game flow may make you turn back around again.
-
PSM MagazineFor heaven's sake, why did they include a quickplay option that chooses two random teams? Who plays a sports game and doesn't want the option to pick their team? [Jan 2003, p.30]
-
There are still too many problems with the AI to make the game worth playing for an extended career.
-
If you see NCAA Final Four 2003 on the shelf just pass it and pretend its not there.
-
Just doesn't even come close to what the competition offers in terms of gameplay--both in the fundamental mechanics of the game and in its technical aspects.
-
Play MagazineThe game's most glaring flaw? Idiotic AI. [Jan 2003, p.84]
-
Official U.S. Playstation MagazineIt's roughly animation-free. [Jan 2003, p.138]
-
Competent but inferior to its souped-up competitors, Final Four 2003 is an amusing weekend rental at best.
-
The biggest shame is that the engrossing dynasty and career modes are wasted by the actual gameplay.
-
Game InformerThe only thing that could make this worse would be if the game was broken, but then you'd at least be spared the agony of playing it. [Jan 2003, p.96]

PhilC.May 2, 2003I thought it was horrible. I played one game and put it back in the box. I'm glad I only rented it
