AceGamezNBA 2K8 is this year's version of an already very accomplished basketball series with an updated roster and some additional enhancements that, whilst not court shattering, add to the overall experience. I would recommend it even if you have NBA 2K7, but you need to realise that it's a game that needs a lot of time and effort put in; make that investment and you'll reap dividends of enjoyment in return.
-
Official Playstation 2 Magazine UKStill the best basketball sim on PS2 and great value, but not much different to last year's title. [Dec 2007, p.89]
-
NBA 2K8's got the best on-court basketball experience on the PS2 this year. That's enough for us to declare it the champ.
-
A decent game of basketball, but it has to be taken with a grain of salt. With very few enhancements to the gameplay, dated visuals and old shooting issues still plaguing the title, NBA 2K8 one of those titles that barely escapes being a mild roster update.
-
Shortcomings aside, we harken back to our Vince Carter analogy. Carter's star is fading, and the "next-gen" is already here in D-Wade, 'Bron and Melo. The PS2 version of 2K8 faces a similar challenge.
-
It's half the price of the stellar new-gen version of NBA 2K8 -- and pretty much half the game.
-
It's light on new features, but NBA 2K8 is still a solid basketball game if you have yet to make the leap to the new generation of consoles.
