MX vs. ATV Untamed

While a few annoying quirks threaten to get in the way, overall this is definitely more of the same.

There's a steeper visual disparity between this and the HD-gen versions than many multiplatform games, partly because Rainbow wasn't behind the development of this version. However, if you're not interested in how modern a game looks or feels and you just want to go big now, you'll probably enjoy Untamed.

There are some solid modes here but the graphics and gameplay don't support the experience enough for it to matter.

Now that I've had to time to think about it, it seems that the only reason that MX vs. ATV Untamed for the PS2 exists is to force players to purchase the superior version on the superior PS3 system.

The technical departments, the visuals and audio, bring this ship down before it even left the port.

Call me nostalgic, but even with Untamed's officially licensed music, the racing sponsors and celebrity endorsements, I'd rather play a round of Excitebike any day.

A weak choice for a racing game, be it offroad or not. There are numerous problems relating to the controls, track design, presentation and so forth. If you're interested in an MX or ATV title, check out the previous release, MX vs. ATV Unleashed as it's much better.

A very poorly done game, that suffers from uninspired gameplay, poor track design, redundancy, and innovation. Furthermore, gamers who enjoy a decent looking title will find that MX vs. ATV Untamed is one of the worst visual offenders out there on the PlayStation 2, as it features an absurd lack of texture detail and a never ending supply of ugly.

Untamed is a perfect example of a franchise paying heed to a platform almost out of muscle memory more so than anything else.

Handing off the game from Rainbow to Incinerator Studios was a bad idea. A baaaaaad idea. If you must play the games, stick to the PSP or PS3 versions. No, really.
