Not much has changed since last year, but what HAS was done so for the better.
-
It's simple, yet deep; goofy, yet realistic. By straddling these contradictions, MLB Power Pros 2008 manages to appeal to casual and hardcore players alike. It doesn't step far from its predecessor's shadow, but that doesn't prevent it from shining.
-
Good, simple baseball is fun for parties and special occasions, though it becomes a bit repetitive when played solo for extended periods of time.
-
For those still clinging on to their PS2, MLB Power Pros 2008 is a decent purchase but I would encourage you to rent the game beforehand as it probably isn't for everyone.
-
It’s probably worth the purchase if you’ve got a kid who happens to be a big baseball fan, and that means that 2K and Konami hit their goal. …kind of.
-
Altogether, I enjoyed MLB Power Pros for the PS2, but I don't think it's a perfect casual game experience. It still straddles the line between hardcore and casual, and it occasionally dips too far into either side to be enjoyed by everyone
-
While Power Pros 2008 offers an undeniably massive amount of modes and options at a terrific $20 price, we could’ve easily waited until next spring for a truer, fuller follow-up.

Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)It's just not that good. [Sept 2008, p.81]
-
MLB Power Pros 2008 sits and stares you down from the television like a catcher who gives his pitcher bad signals.
