There’s nothing that’s going to knock your socks off, but enough for your 10 year old to enjoy it at least as a rental.
-
It's not exactly a memorable quest, but Madagascar is still a good time, especially to fans of the movie who can't get enough of its main characters.
-
It doesn't force you through level after level of mindless item collection. Instead, it boasts a number of well-designed levels that feature a variety of play styles.
-
Game InformerThe gameplay is simple yet heavily varied, which in turn keeps the action fresh and fun. [Aug 2005, p.98]
-
If you happen to be a veteran gamer WITH kids, then Madagascar can provide you with a guilt-free excuse to play video games with your children- or maybe even on your own ("Honey, I'm just clearing this level for Bobby...)
-
The whole thing can be finished in just a couple of sittings. However, fans of the film, both young and old, would do well to give it a shot, as it's an entertaining platformer that complements the movie quite well.
-
Make no mistake, folks: This is a quick cash-in, no matter how you slice it.
-
PSM MagazineMake no mistake: this is a kiddie game. The difficulty level is super-low, and the gameplay within each area is quite repetitive and straightforward. [Aug 2005, p.82]
-
A charming, if flawed and anorexically shallow, kids' action game. Parents shouldn't feel bad about buying it. Kids won't feel bad playing it.
-
Overall, the mechanics are OK, though the camera is kind of unwieldy. But very frankly, that probably won't matter all that much to the target audience.
-
Kids will probably have a blast with this, but anyone else will find it brain cell-destroyingly tedious. But we'd like more games with Zebras please. Zebras are ace. [PSM2]

Feb 25, 2015This is actually a fun game! The level designs are actually well done. I feel like this was one of the last movie-to-game game that was actually fun..
