Meh. The game is alright. It's very easy and wouldn't recommend anyone over the age of 12 to play. If you enjoy a light-hearted, silly game, where you can interact with the environment, and enjoy Star Wars then this is for you. My personal favorite parts of the game are where you are forced to interact with the environment in clever ways to make more progress

This is the most fun I've had with a video game in years. Sure it might be designed for kids, but it satisfies the kid in all of us. Game play is fun, the animated sequences are entertaining, and best of all is you resurect everytime and at the same place. Details for scenery are excellent. My only gripe: having to max out the Jedi bar for every level to open the mystery door. Aside This is the most fun I've had with a video game in years. The game is pretty easy but its still pretty fun too! There is a lot to come back for! Like gold bricks, red bricks, and the mini kits! Game moves smoothly and the graphics are decent for Lego game.

Now, a lot of gamers wont pick up this game because they believe it to be too kiddy or childish. Granted, it is geared towards children somewhat, and isn't overtly difficult or mature. However, this is a really entertaining game with a lot to do.

I waited three weeks for this game, and it is so addictive. It is probably one of my top ten favourite games, possibly number three or four (my favourite game is probably Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion, and cos my computer is dodgy with PC games and I don't have an XBOX 360, I can't have it!).

My dad, who does not like most of the games I buy, actually liked the look of this one! I got this a day after I bought Super Smash Bros Melee, one of my other favourite games, and this game is the one that steps between me and SSB:M.

The first level is in the droid ship at the beginning of Episode 1, and you can be Qui Gon, Obi Wan and TC 14. It is probably one of the best levels in the game, and it shows that even a kid's game can be funny for a teenager (Obi Wan shimmies around the side of a droid carrier, only to be spotted by Qui Gon, who sighs with embarrassment). It has everything in a game that you could wish for, like a little bit of adult humour after you defeat Anakin, great and colourful graphics that are easy on eyes, and addicting game play.

I give this game 10/10, because of its all out fun and greatness.

A great game that tells the story of Star Wars I,II and III in a comedy and lego style. Great platforming game that did not age even nowadays. It is even better if you play co-op with a friend. Highly recommended.

Kommt leider nicht ganz an die Original Trilogie heran aber trotzdem ein großartiges LEGO Spiel, welches meine Kindheit mitgeprägt hat.

LEGO Star Wars used to be one of my favorite childhood games and one of the most memorable in general. I’d say it is the first solid LEGO game, which before 2005 were more of a cash grab for LEGO-loving kids and their uninformed parents (I loved some of them anyway! The biggest blessing of being a kid is not knowing what a really good game looks like). This time, the task was handed toLEGO Star Wars used to be one of my favorite childhood games and one of the most memorable in general. I’d say it is the first solid LEGO game, which before 2005 were more of a cash grab for LEGO-loving kids and their uninformed parents (I loved some of them anyway! The biggest blessing of being a kid is not knowing what a really good game looks like). This time, the task was handed to Traveller’s Tales and it came out so well it started a whole franchise and became kind of iconic. Replaying it in 2021 after doing a Star Wars movies marathon provided me with tons of nostalgia and good memories.

The game allows the player to go through the story from the prequel trilogy of Star Wars in a funny, platforming style. The plot is obviously simplified (there is no voice acting and if you rush, you can beat the game in 4-5 hours) and some events were skipped – like Asajj Ventress subplot in the beginning of Episode II, which starts at Kamino. This doesn’t spoil the fun at all because it’s the gameplay that makes LSW a good title.

It is a pretty easy (but not insultingly easy) game that just… relaxes you? It’s difficult for me to pick a word for it but it just feels good to play it, although the challenges are rather scarce. Is it the nostalgia again? Welp, might be, but it is exactly the same feeling I had 16 years ago. So probably it’s just good and satisfying. No matter if you play it alone or in co-op which I highly recommend.

The cause might be the visuals: even though it’s an old game, angular LEGO bricks and minifigures (59 characters to unlock) aged pretty well. Developers took a creative approach on the material they got and LEGO bricks are a significant element of the gameplay, being pretty much everywhere. You have to interact with them to progress which is immensely fun. Also the nature of clumsy, sharp-edged minifigures was used to add some comedy to the epic saga. The result is cute.

Gameplay-wise, as I said, it’s very easy but it has its moments – you can run through the whole story but finding all collectibles and completing the game can take much more than a couple of hours (18h for me). You have to grind a bit to get every item from the in-game shop. This doesn’t feel bad in any way, fun-to-grind ratio seems to be perfect. LSW is pretty replayable. It also makes you want more of it and foreshadows its sequel in an entertaining way.

And, it has a well designed booklet inside! I will never stop mourning the death of thick booklets added to games….

Knowing all this, time to discuss the dark side (lol) of the game. I played it on PS2 and the first thing I noticed was a loud noise coming from a trembling console. Why would anyone distribute a PS2 game on blue CD that has to spin much faster than DVDs and almost kills the device is still a mystery to me. The game itself has a really stupid AI (making it a bit smarter wouldn’t destroy the easy-going atmosphere) and the hitboxes are kind of screwed. Try killing some basic droids as a powerful Jedi knight – I guarantee you’ll be swinging your lightsaber a lot trying to get the right angle. Vehicle levels are crap, especially the pod racing from Episode I which is a prime example of difficulty spike. Speaking of difficulty, the game gets a bit more challenging in Episode III only to leave you with a really disappointing final fight on Mustafar. I must say it looked much better in my 2005 memories. Finally, dozens of minifigures to play – it’s really cool but most of them are just reskins of basic characters with no unique skills. General Grievous is as powerful as young Obi-Wan. But if you’re a minifigure maniac, you should be satisfied to see them all in action. For example when your character is trying to get out of a glitched texture. Yup, such things might happen in LSW.

All in all, completing LEGO Star Wars after so many years was great and didn’t feel odd at all. If you haven’t tried it, do it before the Skywalker Saga comes out this year (hopefully…) and if you did… there’s never a bad time to replay it. A classic.

I'm glad, that there are Lego games for many franchises. Even if the Batman game is slightly better, this one still rocks. Overall rating: 8.5.

I finished this game with my friend but we were both kinda exhausted after first chapter (movie). Game-play is really repetitive. Controls are okay, but in few moments (like race part) it is almost unplayable and annoying when you are playing in co-op.

The gameplay isn't going to challenge hardcore gamers as the enemies simply aren't that tough, but the presentation really shines. [May 2005, p.95]

It has everything a family-oriented title needs: it has personality, puzzles, cooperative modes, replay value, low violence, a lack of frustrating difficulty, and most importantly, it has Darth Vader.
  3. The novelty of watching a little Lego person version of Obi-Wan Kenobi duel it out with Darth Maul certainly accounts for a large portion of the game's appeal, but on its own merits it's a fairly fun, inventive little game.
