Awesome game! Single player is whatever, but the best part is playing against bots in the local multiplayer. Playing against bots is really fun and there is lots of options to make it harder/easier.

The original James Bond theme song mix and the other songs are good and represent the feel of each level accurately. The underwater level has an eery feel, matched with eery music. I love how the first mission is like the opening action sequences of the movies: grabs your attention, but unrelated to the plot. This adds to the James Bond effect. I love how in multi-player you can get the golden gun, and how you can fight in levels based off settings in the movies, as well as shrunk versions of the maps in the game. Expand

What a great game. The multiplayer to this day is tough to beat. Shooter games are one genre that I find grows less fun as it gets more realistic, and this one has just the right blend of realism and, in certain spots, a fun lack thereof.

I'm still playing this in 2012, that's how enjoyable it is!
I have to say, it is probably the most enjoyable FPS I've played on multiplayer. The fun is actually endless!

I still do like this given even though it's years old. I just find it to be a nice shooter, it has it's moments of somewhat dullness, and i usually only play it now if i'm playing with friends, but it's still a nice game.

Yes, Nightfire is fun. No, its not too original or completely interactive. Just as Entertainment Weekly put it: "...but what's really frustrating is that these [cinematic] sequences (parachuting off a skyscraper, somersaulting to avoid gunfire) illustrate precisely the kind of actions that you should be able to control."

The worst 007 game ever, but still fun. The worst things about this title are the AI and the soun. 007 doesn't sound like 007 and finding a game with worse AI is like try to find a needle in a stack of hay. Decent game overall.

DUDE! THIS GAME TOTALLY ROCKS! It needs to have multiplayer Co-Op and more! You need MORE MAPS! MORE GUNS! MORE SUITS! but then SINGLE PLAYER IS A BLAST!!!!!!!! it is great and though the loading sequence is kind of annoying it has alot of nice objectives. The games not to easy but not too hard its just rite!!!!!!

I didn't grow up with Goldeneye on the N64. Instead, I grew up in this era of Bond games and Nightfire is easily the best Bond game as the controls actually hold up, unlike Goldeneye.

Time has been kind to this 007 classic. In fact, I would say it's the second best Bond game ever made. Only Goldeneye N64 is better. The cinematic campaign is very diverse and replayable. You can tackle it on several difficulty levels and unlock plenty of content. The multiplayer is also a lot of fun. You can play with buddies in split-screen or solo with bots. The 21st in the series, released in 2002, as James Bond you will combine stealth, efficiency and class as you carefully plan out approaches, strategies and takeouts all while using your secret agent gadgets to progress through each level. Unique in it's first-person style, there is a myriad of weapons, machinery and gadgets to choose from, all with their corresponding uses to finishing each individual mission. Complete with explosions, helicopters, hot babes and the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, this game is sure to take you on an immersive journey that is reminiscent of that classic cinematic style we've come to know and love in movies today.

The main quest can be easy to progress at times. There's very few levels that will leave you stumped trying to figure out the next objective but if you happen to get stuck somewhere, the game lends a hand by giving you a simple text hint in the menu options which can be useful at times, even when you aren't stuck on a mission. Now, What I'm about to say might just be a matter of opinion but I believe the speed of the character in the general sense, is a bit slow. While the movement is fluid in nature and you have vast freedom of control... the levels that this character was designed for almost seem out of place and could be aided with the help of added mobility or speed in some parts. Although, It's very satisfying to go through each level even after completion and I think this game has earned it's spot as one with a lot of replayability.

You might think because of it's first-person experience, there isn't much that can be done in terms of control... I whole-heartedly disagree. After a quick look at the menu options, this game makes it easy for anyone to become a pro. It comes packed with 8 different control schemes all designed to do the exact same thing in a more comfy, easy and most importantly, personalized manner that you might not find in other similar games which could be the difference maker in terms of enjoyment and whether you think that game is good or not. It even goes a step further and gives you customizable Y-Axis inversion options in cause you're naturally comfortable with what's known as "reverse controls". Once you've found your niche, it's easy to target, aim, shoot, scroll, shift, slide, strafe in whatever creative ways you can think of, so I would advise to make use of this as early as possible, as it's very important.

The ESRB rating on the box says T for Teen which makes it very accessible to just about anyone and the theme of the game just resonates well with typical consumable media that just about anyone can get behind. Again, this game... coming from a movie background, does a good job of blending in with the industry that also doesn't stray too far away from home. It's rare to see games like this fit so well and bring new elements to the table almost shaping what could become the inspiration for the next game developer to follow in it's footsteps and recreate that cinema-style video game, almost setting a new height for the genre in the process and that, my friends, can't be overlooked.

As for the in-game details, There are some areas in the game that do seem a bit much for the game to handle at times but it's not a nuisance in a casual sense. Driving controls and just about anything that isn't on foot can lead itself to become harder than it needs to be but the design for these missions aren't intended to be that of a racing game so keep that in mind when you play this game. More often than not, you may find yourself rushing to use some of your gadgets when you don't really need to and likewise, not rushing to use them when you should... Overall, it's well-polished and in the moment, none of these things really ruined or interfered with the experience in terms of enjoyment so take that as you will.

Now, when it comes to cinema turned video game, there's a lot of misconceptions and bias toward the idea that some movies are better left in their lane. Some people believe in the idea that a story told through the lens of a camera just won't translate well when left in the hands of someone with a controller. Perhaps a certain game company is just lacking the resources or confidence that are essential to creating the mechanics needed or the graphics suited for a self-sustained video game?
The problem here isn't one that a game or even film company is to blame for. The problem here is that you rarely get a group of people to go the extra mile like 007: Nightfire does. When you play this game, it is immediately eminent the time and effort put into every last detail made specifically for your personal enjoyment. I myself have not played any of the other 007 games but after this one of a kind experience, it's definitely something I look forward to mark on my calendar in the
    near future.

007 Nightfire was my favorite james bond game as a kid and so when i put this on my play queue i was pretty excited to play this again after all these years. but i was a little scared it wouldnt hold up without my nostalgia goggles.

Story: Nighfire feels very much like a bond movie , the story is campy but also takes it self a little to seriously , witch is how i feel about most of pierce brosnans turns as bond and because they got his likeness this games story feels pretty authentic. it tastefully borrows elements from other bond movies like moon ranker and even die another day. its exactly what you expect from a bond movie its not ground breaking but its still fun
    story 7/10

world building: the James bond series is not much for world building for the most part its a new bad guy every time with hundreds of expendable henchmen and this game is no exception to that . not much connects the films together besides witch actors appear in witch films . this game dose world building little better than agent under fire by having pierces likeness as well as having Zoe nightshade be a returning character from agent under fire.
    world building 7/10

graphics: for the PlayStation 2 the graphics look great character models are really good especially for 2002. the guns and gadgets have so much detail on them its , locations are filled with detail and that is pretty impressive for 2002, the graphics hold up pretty well even in 2019 , a little dated but the graphics are very much ahead of its time. the only real bad thing i could say about it is that there seems to be delayed death animations and its made me shoot dead bodys a few times by accident
    graphics:9/10

gameplay: nightfire has a lot of variety in terms of weapons and gadgets , the first level the exchange is probably one of the greatest video game levels of all time , you can stealth the whole level or go guns blazing . there is lots of things to use your gadgets on and plenty of secrets to find. i played the hell out of this level when i was a kid and i loved it as an adult. the rest of the levels seem to focus more on one aspect of its game play , like stealth , snipeing , balls to the wall action and of course driving. i see why i loved this game as a kid its just an incredibly fun game. i played multiplayer bots on end for hours before call of duty and the james bond series was always known for its multiplayer , skyrail is a map that devs now a days need to learn from because its just such a well designed map
    gameplay: 9/10

sound design: the music is really good , the opening theme is really good and feels like it could be in an actual bond movie and fits the style well. the battle music is fun and memorable and the voice acting for 2002 is really good. i didn't even realize that wasn't pierce as a kid so the acting is good enough to fool a 12-13 year old. bit the best part of the sounds is how the guns sound , every gun sounds so different and it just makes them all a joy to use especially silenced guns that "slinke" just feels super satisfying.
    sound design: 9/10

    7+7+9+9+9= 42
    42/5 = 8.2

  1. A little more challenge, depth, and length with the trimming of the lame on-rails levels would have made this one a near classic. As it is, though, it's an above-average shooter with just enough variety and charm to make the familiar trip worth your time.

It's fun as far as it goes, but the experience can't help but feel a little limited at times -- you go there, you do this, you whack a few bad guys in between, and do it all over again once a new objective arises.
