I can't imagine the series, or video game golf for that matter, getting much better than this (of course it will).
-
This game is easier to play than a sorority co-ed. In fact, the gameplay is so basic you can handle it easily while half in the bag.
-
While Hot Shots 3 doesnt revolutionize the series by any stretch of the imagination, it delivers sweet PS2 graphics and loads of slick refinements that make it another must-play game.
-
Game InformerA fantastic game get off your can and go get it before that fat guy across the street beats you to the store. [Apr 2002, p.72]
-
The single player is enough to warrant a buy, but the national tournaments and multi-player aspects make it one you just have to have in your game library.
-
It's so good that on a gorgeous, sunny 80-degree afternoon I found myself hitting the virtual links instead of the real thing and I love real golf.
-
Everything works well together and Clap Hanz should be complimented by improving on an already successful formula.
-
The only real flaw I found with the gameplay is that the game seems fairly forgiving with mistakes.
-
Usually a person will hate a game when they lose at it on a consistent basis, the case is completely different here. This is just a testament of how fun and gripping this game is to play.
-
Electronic Gaming MonthlyI can't remember a game with almost nothing I would change...No other golf game keeps the action moving so well from one shot to the next. [Apr 2002, p.138]
-
Given the choice between Tiger Woods and Hot Shots Golf 3, I'd take Hot Shots any day.
-
PSM MagazineCasual fans have everything they could want. [Apr 2002]
-
PlayboyA perfect virtual getaway -- without the pretension.
-
An exceptional golf game.
-
Perhaps the best party game for the PS2 out there.
-
Theres only so much Hot Shots you can take before you start craving something new and innovative about the whole experience.
-
If there's one area in which Hot Shots Golf 3 completely obliterates the competition, it's pacing. The loading times are nearly nonexistent...You can finish an 18 hole course in a half-hour, which is really great.
-
In comparison [to "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2002"], the tap-tap-tap system employed in Hot Shots can't help but feel a little bit tired. It works, but there are far more possibilities to the PS2 control interface that could be make golf gameplay fresher, more intuitive, and more fun.
-
Deep where it counts the game play.
-
netjakI have to point out that it is a rare thing indeed for a game to grab me the way Hot Shots Golf 3 did and hold onto me for three entire YEARS, especially considering the fact that it is a golf game.
-
Official U.S. Playstation MagazineIt's easy to play, but it's got remarkable depth and tons of replayability. [Apr 2002, p.104]
-
Play MagazineThe coolest thing about Hot Shots, though, has to be the crazy caddies. Each time you drive, they jet after the ball like Benny Hill on a caffeine bender, kicking up dust and generally freaking out. [Mar 2002, p.52]
-
It's improvements, however, aren't as dramatic or gameplay-enhancing as those that EA's "PGA Tour 2002" has brought to the videogame golf genre.
-
Hot Shots Golf 3 takes the game into a whole hilarious new direction - but the realism it loses may hinder real golf fans.
-
True to its word, a round of 18 holes can be played within 20 minutes, making the game extremely accessible for those who want some quick fun without getting bogged down in reading a series of meters or clicking through multiple menu screens before initiating a shot.
-
There are no PGA courses or players, but what it does have to offer is a gameplay style so simple it truly is good for everyone.
-
Despite the aging gameplay dynamics and rehashed sound-effects Hot Shots Golf 3 manages to deliver a full-on entertaining experience that is rarely found within games of the golfing simulation genre.
-
Gets old fast. The multiplayer gameplay grows stale and can be boring, and the one-player game only takes so long to master, or become bored with. A golf fan might eat it up, but your typical gamer will probably put it down after a few days of extended play.
-
A top-notch golf game perfect for anyone looking to make some digital divots.
-
Its incredible similarity to previous Hot Shots Golf games may disappoint those looking for something fresh and new...[but] anyone looking for a consistently goofy, lighthearted golf game, will surely be pleased.
